A sub that fits where you want it

Ever have trouble finding the perfect spot for your sub? Well, with MartinLogan's Dynamo 700W subwoofer, you'll have lots of options. This versatile sub's standard down-firing setup is perfect for placing it in corners or along side walls. But if you're looking for a more discreet placement such as in a cabinet with your other home theater gear, you can easily convert it into a front-firing sub by simply removing and reorienting its detachable feet.

MartinLogan Dynamo 1500X converting from front- to down-firing.

Wireless convenience right out of the box

Even if you're willing to place your sub far from your receiver, you might not want a long wire running between the two. No worries, thanks to the 700W's built-in wireless receiver and included transmitter. So you can feel those deep rumbling movie sound effects without tripping over a cable when you get up to get more popcorn.

Not just for explosive movie soundtracks

When you add a subwoofer to your full-range speaker system, your movies and music will sound fuller and more dramatic. The Dynamo 700W accomplishes this without taking up valuable real estate in your living room or home theater. The sealed enclosure is constructed of high-density materials and reinforced with solid internal bracing to minimize cabinet resonance for cleaner sound. The 10-inch speaker is driven by a high-powered built-in amplifier that delivers 300 watts of continuous, clean power. Both are optimized for low noise and distortion, to produce bass that is not only bold, but detailed and tight rather than loose and boomy. That makes this sub a great performer with movies and music — not to mention a great match with MartinLogan's fine lineup of full-range speakers.

MartinLogan Dynamo 700W powered subwoofer with wireless transmitter

The Dynamo 700W's detachable feet let you easily orient the woofer in a down- or front-firing configuration.

Best little sub for the money.

This is great little subwoofer at a great value from a high end manufacturer. It's simple to set up with just the controls you need and no more. The wireless feature is included and easy to use if you need to remote the sub from your main electronics. Bass is tight and strong. Highly recommended.

2 Martin Logan subwoofers = Perfection + House Shaking w/ Clarity

Crutchfield customer from Crestwood, KY on 6/24/2019

I recently upgraded my home theater system. I purchased an Onkyo TX-RZ620 AV Receiver, Polk Audio RTi A3 front speakers, CSi A4 center channel speaker, F/Xi A6 rear surround speakers and 1 Martin Logan Dynamo 700W Powered Subwoofer. The system is incredible! I really like the clean power this Martin Logan Dynamo powered subwoofer puts out. I wanted to get a second sub for a few reasons. I have a seperate Denon AVR Receiver I could use it with, a shop stereo, or my current home theater. I decided to try the Klipsch Reference R-112SW powered subwoofer. It was physically 2x larger than the Martin Logan sub. The Klipsch had its power but I didn't like not having same brand subwoofers paired with my home theater. Crutchfield gladly returned it and I purchased a 2nd Martin Logan Dynamo 700W to have hooked up to the Onkyo Home Theater. ADVANCED WARNING!!!!! 2 Martin Logan Dynamo powered subs is phenomenal..... Just one will shake the floor, windows, light fixtures. Putting 2 matching subs of this quality and you have a high-fi clean, crisp, sharp response system. Believe me, the subs are plenty loud. I like base booming, and I like quality base. These do anything you want. I credit my advisor, (Levi) who helped me piece this home theater together. If you every want a powered sub and haven't tried a Martin Logan, JUST DO IT!!! You won't be dissapointed.

Pros: Gotta Get yourself one or two of these. Very clean, crisp, powerful and Awesome!!!!!

Cons: Nothing. Martin Logan wins hands down.

For the price I paid couldn't be happier. It complements my ML Motion 4i 5.1 system very well. Now have the 4i crossed over at 100hz and they truly came alive. I read that it was small in size but could not believe what I saw when I opened the box. This thing is tiny, I was scared that it would not be powerful enough but it's very powerful, tight, with clean bass. I did buy an acoustic Foam to use it with woofer facing down because I have tiles in my family room. But love the fact that you can convert it to frwd firing. Have not tried the wireless feature yet but will play around with it later. Overall great sub, I was going to buy the RSL speed woofer but got a great deal for the ML and it looks better and now I have a full ML 5.1 system

Pros: Size, looks, clean tight bass, down or frwd facing woofer, wireless built in, price

Cons: None at this price.

I put together a complete home system from Crutchfield. I have an Onkyo TX-NR686 powering Polk Audio RTi A1 bookshelf mains, Polk Audio TSi100 bookshelf for surrounds, and a Polk Audio CSi A4 center channel. All five are setup on the bookshelf around the TV and the low end is handled by a MartinLogan DynamoT 700W in a room about 14 feet by 22 feet. Also added a phono Audio-Technica LP-60XBT. The sub is amazing. When Dolby is set to low volume bass mode the room shakes like a theatre. This thing is a beast.

Clean, tight bass

Great sub for music, ok for ht. My room is about 20x30x9. One was just enough for music, but left a tad more to be desired. The wireless allowed me to easily try every position in the room to find the best spot. The bass is very tight, not boomy at all. One was not nearly enough for home theater, though. I purchased another and it gave me the depth I was looking for. This sub doesn't seem to go any lower than about the 30hz range, maybe not even that low. But for its price and foot print, (very compact, smooth and clean looking) I'm happy with its range and output.

Pros: Very small Simple, clean looking Wireless built in Tight bass

Cons: Too small for larger rooms Not great for home theater

Great sounding sub. Paired with Maranztz 5012 receiver and some old Panasonic speakers for now. Small footprint and looks nice. Rumbles the house so got the subduded to set it in and sounds even better. The only complaint the blue lights on the back are bright but nothing a piece of electrical tape can't handle.

Cons: Bright blue lights on back.

The sound is awesome both on movie and music soundtracks. This was part of a home theater set up in my den which is a large room and the bass filled the entire room. Set up was seamless and connected right away with the transmitter. The finish on the unit is high end. The only downside is that it occasionally makes some low pitched rumbling noises even when the system is not in use. Am moving the unit around to see if I can get this resolved. Hence the 4 star rating.

Just what the doctor ordered

I've never had an adult-level sub on a system before. Lots of "toys", just no "real" sub. My needs were not substantial to start with and I half expected to be returning this unit after trying it out for a month or so. No way! It stays. I have a pair of Focal Chorus 716s and a NAD c368 set up in a 15 x 20 room. The sound I was getting was beautiful, but ever so thin and a bit weak. I was all set to go double my spend on speakers and trade in the 716s for a pair of 926s, but someone at a local stereo shop recommended that a sub may be all I needed to give my music a little better foundation. He had suggested a new Paradigm sub at about $700. Had more bells & whistles, but when I saw this ML Dynamo 700W in a Crutchfield add at $400, I thought - "why not give this a try, and, if it's good I will have saved $300+ to spend on another something for my setup!" After trying this sub, I'm going to do just that - pocket the $300 in savings and move on. This thing rocks. It has elevated the sound of virtually every type of music I've played through it, without adding bulky, heavy, overwhelming, thumpy bass. I could not be happier and, so far, 2 weeks in, love everything about this including it's wirelessness! The wireless functionality works beautifully allowing for excellent flexibility in moving the box around the room. The only thing I added to this purchase was an Auralex Sub Dude II to sit the thing on given my bare hard-wood floors. That was is the best!

Pros: Solid, yet subtle foundation for my 2 channel music system. No, heavy, muddy overwhelming, thick bass here, just smooth and punchy only where it should be. Sounds natural when paired with the right speakers.

Cons: An app to control settings would have been nice. This fires from a downward facing woofer. You can change the orientation, which would put connections and controls on the bottom of the unit. Without an app there would be no way to adjust settings if the woofer were placed in a forward facing orientation. So it stays a downward firing unit.

phase one (esthetics and craftsmanship) Out of the box I felt the "Serious Business" piece of sound gear, emotion. Handsome look that blends easily but with authority in the room. I bought it for High Resolution Stereo Music only so the sealed 10" 300RMS woofer will compliment the dual 7" woofers on each of my Polk's RTiA7 (a well thought calculation). In the near future I will let you know how this Compact Bad Boy performs "on stage" (currently under construction) along the Beautiful Seven's. pd. If you plan to listen Nuclear Explosions, or Zombies vomiting plasma on your home theater, better get a 100" 35,000rms ported sub. This one is for High Res M.U.S.I.C.

I added the ML 700W sub to my home theater in addition to a Bostom Acoustics sub. the wireless feature was very easy to setup and allowed me to locate the new ML sub across the room without having to run 20 feet of cable. the small form factor of the ML made it easy to find a place for it that was not obvious or in the way of living room traffic.

Pros: great bass. wireless. small footprint. great looks.

Cons: none.

The ML Dynamo 700 is a good sub for music, fast & tight response. I'm using it with a pair of Klipsch "Super-Heresies", and needed an octave+ on the low end for a 2 channel music system in a smaller room. The results are excellent! I chose this model because it's a sealed subwoofer, fast & tight, and for ML's fine reputation.

Pros: Fast, tight response. Front or bottom firing Excellent finish Direct or wireless operation Integrates well

Cons: None

Tiny, mighty and clean

Ryan from Logan, UT on 1/5/2019

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is a pretty good little sub, particularly for tight spaces. Though I haven't used it, the wireless transmitter does afford great freedom in placement as well and can't be ignored as a feature. It provides reasonably balanced and tight bass to down to a pretty good frequency level. In my room, meaningful output feels like it goes down to about 30 Hz. While it does provide impressive output for it size, it is a small subwoofer. If you need high output for HT, then you need to find room for a bigger driver and amp in a bigger cabinet, and be prepared to pay for it.

Pros: Small size, easy placement Good output for size Wireless transmitter included Reasonably clean sound All essential controls available

Cons: May not be enough output for some HT applications Limited output in lowest frequencies

Disappointing Performance

Peter from Edmonds, WA on 1/4/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

My setup: pair of XStatic full range electrostatic mains, Martin Logan SLM-XL center channel, Martin Logan Dynamo 700 Sub, powered by a Marantz SR7012. Source is Tidal Lossless FLAC streaming via HEOS to the Marantz AVR. I ran the Audyssey Room Correction utility to accommodate and adjust the sub for optimum performance in my room. My room is large, 20' x 30' x 10' ceilings. The sub was initially placed about 2' from the wall and 3' from the side wall. The ML Dynamo 700 was a bit of a disappointment from the start. The bass was tubby and muffled, particularly at between 150-220Hz. I tried several adjustments, changed the sub from down firing to front firing, changed LFE settings, changed the phasing, reran the Audyssey room correction multiple times, and moved the sub around in an attempt to get the best sound. All to no avail. As a quick test, I grabbed my Klipsch R112SW to compare and the Klipsch blew the ML away. I returned the ML. Too bad as I really wanted to be impressed with the ML and it should have been a good match for the speed of an electrostatic speaker.

Pros: Compact size, configurability, price

Cons: Tubby, flabby, boomy bass.

i had an old M&K sub for many years that recently died. it weighed 80 lbs and so i was skeptical of what the dynamo 700 could really do when i saw how small it was. but after hooking it up, it more than holds its own. plenty of punch and no boomy loose bass with the sealed cabinet and down-firing option. great sale price too! the only drawback is having the controls on the underside of the unit when opting for the front firing mode.

Pros: small and lightweight so it is easy to place around the room during tuning. nice low pass filter, works great. plus you have the option for down firing or front firing mode. i like the easy to remove feet and option to use carpet spikes.

Cons: if you use front firing mode, access to all controls will be on the bottom of the unit and pretty tough to gain access. blue operating lights too bright.

I set this up with a pair of paradigm tower speakers to add low end presence in my living room. This performs very well for music and only rarely struggles to stay tight with some of the lowest frequencies in music. At 399 it might not be the best performance for the dollar but it is still a good value especially if a small footprint and the wireless option are needed.

Added this sub to increase the range of my Martin Logan LX16s. Does a fantastic job and would have given it 5 stars were it not for the fact that the controls end up on the bottom of the speaker when you go to a front firing setup. Doesn't make any sense that you have to tip the speaker over to access the controls. I think I have it set to the level I want but still . . .

Received this to replace an old B&W 100W sub I had. This one is very nice -- great clear sound, reaches deep, beautiful cabinet, solid feel, and very well made. Only hiccup I had was with the included wireless adapter (it would not stay on unless I wiggled the little plug --- it appears to be a loose socket on the wireless module where the AC adapter plugs in. This led to the sub dropping out due to the external adapter losing power). Otherwise, awesome sub and I do recommend this unit to others....

Pros: very clear sound, deep base, nice features, beautiful cabinet.

Cons: None with the sub itself. With the accessory -- the external wifi adapter included with it would not stay powered on. The Sub itself was flawless.

Exactly what I was looking for: to fill a medium-sized house (1740 sq ft, open concept room layout, cathedral ceiling) with tightly rumbling sound. Quality subwoofer, has a full range of controls and a wired or wireless connection to easily satisfy harder-to-wire spaces. Tons of power! Will be experimenting with side-firing by placing it directly behind sofa, because I'm finding that down-firing is too much shaking for our wood-frame house at higher volumes. Long-term plan is to relocate subwoofer to basement, after we finish the remodel.

Pros: Tight Powerful Full range of controls Down or side-firing Wireless or wired Compact

Cons: Blue lights are super bright (recommend to cover with tape) Can't think of ANY OTHER CONS

This is my first powered subwoofer, it is replacing the sub that came with Bose lifestyle 18 theater system. My room is a standard living room ... approx 20 x 15 open concept house; I do not have a dedicated theater / media room. The bass is a great compliment to the existing 5 Bose speakers and a tremendous upgrade from their factory unit. Installation was extremely simple and the packaging was designed to ensure no damage during transit. I found the instruction manual very easy to understand with the suggested setup and explanation of the adjustments available. The included wireless transmitter and ability to change down-firing or front-firing were the 2 main reasons I selected this over alternate subs. Pairing was a breeze and there is no latency - the lows hit when they are suppose to. I have it in the down-firing position and it shakes the walls of my house. It sounds louder and deeper the further you get away from it. Highly recommend if you are wanting a 10 inch versatile sub to complete your theater setup.

Great sound, issues with wireless connection

Namir from Annandale, VA on 12/1/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I have been enjoying a dated but fine Boston Acoustics 5.1 system, and the sub-woofer died. I purchased the new ML to replace it, and acoustically it is great. It fills the large (but not huge) room with excellent bass for adventure movies, which was the main reason I got it. (Star Wars, etc.) There is one disappointing issue that I may eventually sort out, and they do warn you about it: since I cannot place it close enough to my receiver to hardwire it in, I use the wireless connection that comes with it. As warned, all the other ambient RF signals in my house (WiFi mainly, but who knows what else) cause some interference. Thus when the subwoofer is on, you get some low level rumblings from time to time. It's a little annoying, but not catastrophic. What I do now is turn the sub-woofer down until I really it need it, and then just crank it for high powered movies. Clearly not the best solution. I am playing with moving the transmitter and receiver (for the wireless connection to the receiver) around, and hopefully I will soon find a "null" in my ambient RF where I can eliminate the interference.

Pros: Acoustically great for a relatively small footprint.

Cons: Ambient RF (i.e. WiFi) produces unwanted "rumbling" from time to time, when using the wireless connection.

As our first home theater we don't have a comparable reference point, but this sub was simple and easy to connect. We tried both wired and wireless methods and cannot tell a difference in sound between the two methods. The woofer is small which is ideal and it produces clean crisp sound. Make sure you set your LFE to 120Mhz and all your speakers to small and 80Mhz crossover and it produces the best effect. Did not rely on Audyssey to auto-set levels, as it cannot work with an externally powered sub. We don't listen to over the top loud content, so we cannot rate it on sheer volume, but Bladerunner 2049 sounded simply awesome as well as so does soft Jazz and Netflix movies streaming in 5.1. Using in a 7.1 system with Denon X3400, 6 Polk ceiling mounted 70RT's, and a Polk a4 Center. Medium size room.

Pros: Small size Acoustic Suspension Wireless Good crisp sound

Cons: None Will probably eventually purchase a 2nd Sub to even out the natural highs and lows in different seats in our living space, but not a necessity

I'm using the SWT-2 wireless interface and it works perfectly. It would be more ideal if the subwoofer would auto turn-on with lower signal levels or turn on whenever the wireless link is active, however once it's on it stays on even at low listening volumes, which is nice.

Pros: Clean, deep bass extension Very musical Great slam for movies Compact

Cons: Auto turn-on requires somewhat high audio signal

Always wanted a high quality 2 channel system. I'm not really a stereophile but appreciate well made functional equipment. Upgraded my speakers from Infinity to Martin Logan LX16 and the ML700W acoustic suspension. The Infinitys were fine and were also purchased from Crutchfield. I just wanted a bit more of a refined sound. Got what I wanted with this setup. The bass it tight and the down firing woofer adds bottom without being muddy or obtrusive. Love the phase capability and operate in 2 channel mode. If my 67year old ears notice a difference, I think that says something. I don't use the wireless capability.

Adds just the right amount of "lower end" bass to round out my book shelf speakers. The Martin Logan sub gives an all around fullness to the music without being overpowering. Hard to explain, but you can hear the difference. I listened to a couple of other subs and this one fit what I needed.

Amazing!! This is honestly one of the smallest 10" subs on the market but you would have no idea by listening to it. My goal with my new 5.1 setup was to feel like the Earth was shaking. Excellent sub! Easily fills the room. After going through the setup on my Marantz SR7011 receiver, I've got the volume set at about 40% to get to about 73 dB and it balances the room very well. The room is open on 2 sides, 12ft ceiling, wood floor with large area rug. The flexibility to set it as downward firing or forward firing is a nice feature I didn't think would make a difference. I like the forward firing setup better for my space. The wireless option seems like a nice option to have but mine is hard wired. Current setup is 5.1 but looking forward to adding a few more speakers and I will definitely consider adding more MartinLogan products.

Pros: Flexible setup, excellent power

Cons: Flashing blue wireless light is annoying and the only solution I've found is ducktape.

Great sounding sub, but wireless feature was disappointing. My setup is ML's all around in a 2.1 system - 35xt's and the 700W. The set sounds awesome, but was hoping to be able to tuck the sub in a corner with it being wireless. Unfortunately, the wireless frequency is 2.4GHz, which is the same as our phone, router, etc. so there was a ton of interference that distorted the sound. Disappointing they would use a common frequency like this.

Pros: great sound, easy setup

Cons: wireless didn't work

Great low end and output

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I wasn't shopping for any new equipment, but then we had a lightning hit... I lost a beloved Klipsch KSW-10D subwoofer. I knew it wouldn't be easy to replace that or easy to be happy with a new item. The MartinLogan Dynamo was one of the few models that I've seen since getting my last sub that impressed me. With a phone call to Crutchfield to double check some things, I was comfortable that this was the right thing for my needs. Set up was easy and quick using the auto EQ of the new receiver in that room. It visually disappears thanks to the very small size and has no trouble at all keeping up with what we ask of it. Great low end and more than enough output for a large room in an 'open' floor plan.

Pros: Small size, wireless is nice, but didn't need to use it. Lots of output. Lots of low end extension.

Cons: Blue LED on the rear is very bright. You'll want to cover that with a small piece of electrical tape.

I recently purchased a Yamaha YSP-5600 soundbar to replace a 5.1 speaker system to make better use of the space we have. I then decided I might as well upgrade my subwoofer and was looking for something with a small footprint and that was also wireless. After reading reviews and looking at different brands I decided on the Martin Logan Dynamo 700w. I was not familiar with their products but decided to go ahead with the purchase. After the initial shock of how small the sub was, I did not think that this was such a good idea. Wrong! This puts my old much larger ported sub to shame. The bass is tight and sounds great!

Pros: small size great sound wireless

MartinLogan Dynamo 700W subwoofer

LC from Cary, North Carolina on 11/8/2015

I'm still amazed at the sound and power of this subwoofer, from a cube that's about 12x12x12 inches. It can literally rattle the walls (which I did accidentally when first setting up). I've had 2 other subs ( Sony and John Thomas) that couldn't hold a candle to this MartinLogan. It took a little playing around to find the optimal location (thank goodness it's wireless except for the power cord), but I found the sweet spot, so the bass seems to come from the PSB X2Ts I also purchased from Crutchfield. I listen almost exclusively to classical music (specifically baroque), and although the PSB X2Ts have dual 6 1/2 inch woofers, this sub adds a true extra dimension. I highly recommend it.

Pros: Quality of construction and (needless to say) sound that you hear and feel, without making your ears bleed.

Cons: None. I do agree with another review that a piece of electrical tape over the lights would be beneficial (they could serve as night lights).

Awesome, I already had a sub and wanted to add a second. I'm using this one in wireless mode, no interference so far. The sound is great, still tweaking the placement and gain. I have it firing downward. Thinking about placing tape over blue light in back. Already I can tell it's the best sub in the house. The only problem was the first sub I got a random thumping noise, I advised Crutchfield and they immediately sent out another. This one worked perfectly. No regrets

Pros: Great addition, I want to say it added warmth to the music. I'm playing a lot of old school R & B, the bass is tight.

Cons: Non, so far

Very Solid Sub, with some minor quirks

Luke from Charlotte, NC on 3/30/2014

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is a very solid and powerful sub. I have it connected through my Martin Logan Motion View sound bar, and the sub delivers quite a punch when it's active. The key word there is active. If the volume on the sound bar is low or you're watching a sitcom or scene with not a lot of bass, the sub does go into stand by mode. And in order to get it active again, you have to turn the sound up in order for it to register. I have not determined whether this is attributed to the sub being connected through a wireless connection versus a direct connection into the sub. Also, there are times the sub doesn't register a signal during a non HD movie (meaning no surround sound). I would think the sub would still come on, but it does not.

Pros: Powerful sound when hooked up Easy to connect via a wireless connection Configuration options to make it fire down or out

Cons: Inconsistently goes in and out of stand by mode During scenes with heavy dialog and no background music or sound, the sub sometimes transmits a tick / popping sound. Don't know if that is because of wireless interference or something else

Features

Dynamo Series Powered Subwoofer: The MartinLogan Dynamo 700w powered subwoofer offers audiophile grade performance and home-friendly aesthetics. Featuring a high-current 300-watt RMS (600-watt peak) amplifier and a 10" cone driver, the Dynamo 700w delivers deep, tight, effortless bass for movie and music soundtracks. It can be configured as a down-firing or front-firing powered sub. The 700w offers both a wired and wireless powered subwoofer connection to your home AV entertainment system.

Advanced, Ultra-Efficient 300-Watt Amp: The Dynamo 700w's ultra-efficient, high-power amplifier uses variable audio tracking power supplies to drive its class AB output stage. With lower distortion and less noise than typical Class D switching amplifiers, this advanced design allows the amplifier to operate at much higher efficiencies than a typical class AB amplifier, delivering a true 300-watts of continuous power (600-watts peak).

High-Resolution, Low-Distortion 10" Woofer: The Dynamo 700w's advanced-technology driver pairs a high-power magnet structure with a 10" poly diaphragm to deliver huge excursion and sound output while perfectly preserving the tiniest bass detail; and all without a hint of distortion. The exceptional damping properties of the poly cone material also ensure the smooth, non-resonant response necessary for truly seamless blending with MartinLogan's electrostatic panel and Folded Motion driver technologies found in their loudspeakers.

Inverse Mathematical Equalization (IME) Filtering: An IME filter is derived from the inverse of the unfiltered driver response. Precision IME filtering yields extremely accurate low-frequency response; far superior to that provided by the simple second-order high-Q filters typically found in subwoofers in this price range.

Sealed Cabinet w/ Internal Bracing: On the outside, the Dynamo 700w's cabinet is constructed from the finest composite material for acoustic integrity. Inside, critically placed structural cross-bracing acts an excellent baffle for the woofer while the added rigidity keeps cabinet-induced resonances and non-linearities to inaudible levels. As a result the MartinLogan Dynamo 700w maintains a smooth, consistent response regardless of music or movie source material.

Front-Firing or Down-Firing Configuration: To maximize performance when installed inside of a cabinet or other discrete installation, the Dynamo 700w's standard down-firing configuration easily converts into a front-firing orientation; no tools required. A grille cover and 90-degree RCA adaptors are provided for use in front-firing applications. Dimensions:

  • Down-Firing Orientation (default): 11.6875" (w) x 12.5625" (h) x 12.875" (d)
  • Front-Firing Orientation: 11.6875" (w) x 13.5" (h) x 12.3125" (d)
Note: If placing the powered subwoofer inside of a cabinet, it is recommended that there be a minimum of 3" of open space between the cabinet and the front and back sides of the powered sub.

Seamless System Integration: Comprehensive connection options, low-pass filtering, and phase control make integrating the Dynamo 700w subwoofer into a multi-channel home theater or stereo music setup simple and seamless. The main left/right line-level inputs feed into a precision low-pass filter with a cut-off frequency variable from 35 to 120 Hz. For systems in which the AV receiver supplies the low-pass crossover, the Dynamo 700w offers an LFE input that bypasses its internal filters. The phase control can be set to 0, 90, or 180-degrees.

Built-in Wireless Receiver: Although correct placement plays a key role in optimizing subwoofer performance, sometimes it imposes the inconvenience of running long lengths of cable through walls, along baseboards, or under floors and carpets. To solve the problem, the Dynamo 700w incorporates a wireless receiver (digital RF transmission) for use with the included SWT-2 MartinLogan Subwoofer Wireless Transmitter which plugs into the subwoofer or LFE output of your home receiver or active soundbar speaker via stereo RCA (cable not included).

Note: You cannot add additional wireless receivers, transmitters, or subwoofers to this system.

Energy Transfer Coupler (ETC) Spikes: The Dynamo 700w comes with custom ETC spikes which can be used along with the pre-installed rubber feet to enhance stability on thick carpets, or create tighter coupling between subwoofer and floor to enhance overall sound quality. The spiked feet add 0.625" of height to the powered sub.

Auto Power On/Off: The powered subwoofer will automatically enter a power saving mode when no audio signal is detected. The subwoofer will automatically come out of power saving mode when an audio signal is detected.

Break-In Period: The Dynamo 700w woofer requires approximately 50 hours of break-in at moderate listening levels before its optimal performance occurs. This will factor in on any critical listening and judgment.

I don't have a home theater and I use audio equipment only for music listening. My setup employs two Martin Logan 35xt bookshelf speakers. I picked this sub because reviewers have praised it for its tight bass. I listen mainly to classical music and jazz ,and my highest priorities are clarity and detail. The last thing I want is boomy bass. I'm hoping that because it is a Martin Logan product it will blend well with my other ML speakers. [ joel  Feb 09, 2018 ]

I'm sorry I don't know. I have ML speakers and the finish on them is incredible. So unless you are very talented or want to have a professional paint them I wouldn't bother. They are like a very expensive piece of furniture.
[ Glen  Nov 09, 2017 ]
A
Disregard the Bose recommendation. The Definitive Technology Prosub 800 in white is a proper recommendation for a powered sub.
[ Rodney  Nov 07, 2017 ]
A
It does not come in white. It can be painted but i would go a different route. I would remove the control panel and woofer, take the cabinet to an automotive shop that does vinyl wrap and have them wrap it. Reinstall the components and put the legs on to configure the woofer in the down firing position. Another option is to go with a white Bose Acoustimass 300.
[ Rodney  Nov 07, 2017 ]
A
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT WHITE BUT I KNOW IT CAN BE PAINTED/JUST SAND IT LIGHTLY WITH VERY FINE SAND PAPER,PROTECT THE DRIVER AND THE CONTROLS AND APPLY 3 LAYERS OR MORE OF SPRAY PAINT /GET GOOD SPRAY PAINT -NO DRIP HI COVERING POWER

Q
Can two of these be connected wirelessy to a capable receiver? I have an Yamaha RX-A3070 receiver and would like dual subs for my system. Thanks.
[ Jared  Aug 27, 2017 ]

A
If that receiver has either two outputs to right and left or front and rear dedicated to sub woofers. The answer is yes.If it does not have but one sub out then you would have to connect between L and R or Back to front main spkrs and that would possibly interfere with the mains spkrs dynamics.GL,BC

Q
I'm using an old receiver, a Nakamichi Stasis TA 3A as a preamp with my beloved Adcom 555 amp. Spk wire already run under the carpet to my 2 Coincident spkrs. How would I hook this up? Long RCA cables across the room are not an option. Thanks. John from Texas

Q
When operating the sub in wireless mode, does the wireless transmitter have to be wired to the pre-amp/receiver?
[ Jove23  Jan 03, 2017 ]

A
Yes, it has to be wired to the preamp.
[ Czeslaw  Jan 04, 2017 ]
A
Yes, it's a little box that you connect to your pre-outs or sub woofer out and to an 110 outlet. It has a blue pilot light as does the back of the amp/speaker. The unit goes to sleep after a short period of no signal. Actually, I can't tell the difference between this unit and the hard-wired unit I have on another system.
[ Steven  Jan 03, 2017 ]
A
YES.... It plugs into one of the Sub inputs on the receiver. This sub is amazing and needs time to "burn in," meaning after a few weeks of solid use it really comes into it's own! I do wish it weighed more...
[ Joel  Jan 03, 2017 ]
A
Yes, you plug it into the sub pre-out just like you would normally do with the subwoofer. You also need to plug it into an outlet for power.
[ Michael  Jan 03, 2017 ]
A
yes, the transmitter transmits the signal wirelessly to the sub.

Q
How do I size a receiver for this?
[ Brandt  Nov 19, 2015 ]

A
I'm not really sure how to answer this except to say that mine is matched up to a McIntosh MA 5200 and it works just fine, but the room is rather small (14x14 w 10' ceiling) so I don't crank the sub up but a little.
[ Steven  Nov 20, 2015 ]
A
Yo don't. It has a built in amp. You size the sub to the room.
[ JEFFREY  Nov 20, 2015 ]
A
Unfortunately I cannot be of assistance. I purchased my speakers for a move and they are still in the factory packaging. Sorry
[ MICHAEL H  Nov 20, 2015 ]
A
The sub is self powered. You just need to connect to your sub pre amp out or LFE. Also this sub is wireless.
[ CALVIN L.  Nov 20, 2015 ]
A
Since the Dynamo is a powered subwoofer it should not draw off the receiver. I have a 8 year old H/K receiver with 75 watts per channel. I played the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony and there was absolutely no problem. The wood floor literally shook due to the down firing bass driver. It is also great due it is wireless capability with no wires running from the unit,
[ Gordon F.  Nov 20, 2015 ]
A
You can get any receiver. It has gain so you can shape the sound to come in soft for low power or hard for big power.
