About the Yamaha PSR-EW410
Finding the perfect sound
Finding the perfect sound
All of Yamaha's portable keyboards are designed to give the player broad options for finding the perfect sound. The PSR-EW410 includes over 700 sound samples and a wide selection of effects, and also offers recording and sampling options for an unlimited variety of sounds. And its comprehensive control set gives you pinpoint control of a wide range of parameters.
With 76 full-sized, touch-sensitive keys, the PSR-EW410's keyboard gives you the room you need for broad voicings and complex arrangements. An easy-to-read backlit LCD display shows the current instrument settings. A dedicated Piano button on the control panel lets you instantly switch to the Grand Piano setting. The two assignable Live Control knobs let you control the synth's waveform parameters and DSP effects as well as selecting Voices, Songs, Styles, and Grooves.
Dual Voice allows you to trigger two sounds with the same key, and Split Voice maps two different voices onto different areas of the keyboard so you can accompany a treble line with a bass line. Registration Memory includes 32 spaces where you can save your control panel settings for easy recall. Additional controls include a pitch wheel which allows you to bend notes and add vibrato for greater realism and dynamics, and Yamaha's FC4A foot pedal (sold separately) which gives you control of sustain.
Sounds and effects galore
With 694 sampled sounds, the PSR-EW410 can emulate a full range of instruments including keyboards, strings, wind instruments, percussion, synthesizers, and sound effects. The 16 kit settings make it simple to trigger drums and sound effects. Ten types of digital sound processing are available, and can be controlled via the Live Control knobs.
Onboard effects include twelve different reverbs, five chorus settings including two flangers, and six types of equalization, while the 26 harmonizer presets allow you to play multiple parts with a single key. 165 automated Accompaniment Styles give you multi-instrument tracks to play along to, with intelligent Intro, Fill, and Ending options for a more realistic experience. A library of 30 pre-programmed songs gives you material to help hone your skills.
Sampling and recording
As well as using the onboard sound library, the PSR-EW410 can record external sounds and save them as assignable samples to give your performances even more variety. It can capture a sound or phrase from an audio playback device via the audio input, and you can use a USB flash drive to upload saved sounds or store the samples you create. And when you've come up with ideas for tracks that you want to save, the PSR-EW410 can record up to 10 User Songs with six tracks each.
Get into the groove
Groove Creator's pre-programmed rhythms and phrases give you the tools to construct electronic music tracks in 35 grooves including house, hip-hop, trance, and dub. The software also includes features to add variety to your tracks with track muting, key changes via a single keystroke, automated arpeggios, and the Musical Climax setting which creates a build-up to take your track over the top. You'll also be able to assign effects and functions to the Live Control knobs to really bring your music to life.
The PSR-EW410 operates on six D batteries or the included AC adapter. Two 4-3/4" speakers let you hear yourself in stereo; you can connect the keyboard to external amplification via 1/4" balanced and unbalanced stereo outputs. The 1/8" stereo input jack connects the PSR-EW410 to external devices for playback and sampling.
With its advanced features, sophisticated control options, and extensive sound libraries, the PSR-EW410 gives you the tools to grow your skills, capture your sounds, and take it to the stage without breaking the bank. More details on the Yamaha PSR-EW410
Overview: The Yamaha PSR-EW410 is an all-round keyboard that is ideal as a starter instrument but also a robust alternative for experienced players who seek advanced features for their live performance and/or for their composing. Its powerful sound system boasts two built-in 12W amplified speakers and its wide range of features, controls, and connectivity make the PSR-EW410 a long-lasting musical companion as you grow and hone your skills.
758 High-Quality Voices: The PSR-EW410 includes 758 high quality voices, ranging from acoustic to electric instruments, featuring 8 Sweet! voices, 3 Cool! voices, and 1 Live! voice. Voices are designed using Yamaha's AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) sampling which uses digital technology to record the sound of an acoustic piano. AWM Stereo Sampling creates a deeper, richer and more spacious sound by using pairs of waveforms (L and R) captured with two microphones.
Built-In Speakers: The PSR-EW410 features a pair of built-in 4.7" bass-reflex speakers, powered by a powerful internal 12W+12W amplifier and providing deep, rich sound. The internal speakers can be manually muted or will automatically cut off if a plug is inserted into the rear-panel Headphone jack.
Live Control Knob Interface: Two assignable, real-time control knobs let you filter and adjust your sound just like an analog synthesizer. 10 brand new DSP effects can be assigned and controlled by the knobs for dynamic and expressive live performance. The Pitch Bend wheel adjusts the pitch of the sound bringing voices like the Guitar, Sax and Trumpet to life.
Quick Sampling: The PSR-EW410 lets you sample sounds from an external audio source, such as a computer, smartphone, portable audio player, or a USB flash drive, via the rear-panel Aux In jack. You can then assign the sampled sound to the keyboard for playing back. The PSR-EW410 lets you record up to approximately 9.6 seconds of audio (mono) at 16-bit/44.1kHz resolution. The keyboard can be divided into 7 Sample Zones with each having one Sample assigned to it. Sample Zone A (Normal sample type) takes up the left four octaves, while Zones B-G can have individual Samples assigned to individual keys for either Loop or One-Shot playback.
- Normal: The pitch of the assigned Sample will vary depending on the key played, with the default pitch assigned to note C3.
- Loop: The Sample is played in a loop without changing the pitch. Pressing a white key plays the Sample as long as you are holding the key. Pressing a black key plays the Sample continuously until the key is pressed again.
- One-Shot: The Sample is played only once, without changing the pitch, as long as you hold down the key.
Effects: This instrument features built-in effect settings as well as Master EQ that can add extra depth and expression to the sound creating a realistic acoustic ambience. Although the appropriate effects are called up automatically when you select each of the Voices, you can change each as well as control the depth of the effect. Effects include: 10 types of DSP, 12 Reverb, 5 Chorus, 26 Harmony, and 6 types of Master EQ.
Registration Memory: This function allows you to save or "register" panel settings such as Voice and Style to a Registration Memory Button on the front panel, and instantly recall your custom panel settings by pressing the corresponding Memory button. 32 Memory slots are available, divided into 8 Banks with 4 each.
Songs: The PSR-EW410 includes 40 internal Song slots: 30 Preset, and 10 User for recording your own Songs. Songs can be recorded on up to 6 tracks, one at a time, letting you layer complex parts that may be difficult to play all at one time. Commercially available Songs can also be downloaded and saved, or can be accessed from a connected USB flash drive or from a computer. Demo and Preset Songs can be set to playback individually or can be set to automatically play all internal Songs in succession.
Accompaniment (Styles): The PSR-EW410 includes an Auto Accompaniment feature that can automatically play an appropriate rhythm "style" (rhythm + bass + chord accompaniment), controlled by playing chords with your left hand. A wide range of musical styles are available with 235 Preset Styles to choose from. The default "split-point" on the keyboard is F#2, but can be changed in the Function menu.
- Style Variations: Each Style consists of 4 sections that let you vary the arrangement of the accompaniment to match the song you are playing; Intro, Main, Auto-Fill, and Ending.
Groove Creator: This function lets you repeatedly play back various rhythm patterns and phrases (Grooves) in various genres, including Hip Hop, House, EDM, Trance, Electro, and contemporary dance music from around the world. Similar to Styles, each of the 35 Preset Grooves features several Sections, allowing you to add dynamic variations to your performance. Five Sections are available: A-D, and Musical Climax. All Sections A-D will play back repeatedly until manually stopped.
Arpeggio Function: Tap into instant inspiration with the Arpeggio function, which has been improved for smoother playability. Hold Mode and Allocated key-range free your hands, allowing you to improvise over the pattern. The 150 Arpeggio patterns adjust and morph around the notes and chords you play on the keyboard allowing for almost limitless creativity. The Arpeggiator can be quantized to match the beat of a Song, Style, or Groove with sync options of 1/16th notes, 1/8th notes, or Off.
Background Music Source (BGM): A front-panel Demo button lets you playback the 3 internal Demo Songs repeatedly, using the PSR-EW410 as a background music playback device. All of the internal Songs can be set for BGM playback as well.
Tempo: The overall tempo of a Style or Groove can be changed between 11 and 280 BPM (Beats Per Minute). The front-panel Tempo button can also be used to "tap" out your tempo, especially helpful for beat-matching to an external music source. The Tap Tempo range is 32-280 BPM.
Main Outputs: Two rear-panel 1/4" jacks provide a stereo line-output that can be run to an amplifier or pair of powered speakers. The Left jack can also be used as a summed Mono output for running to a single amplified speaker.
Headphone Jack: Any pair of stereo headphones with a 1/4" stereo phone plug can be plugged in here for convenient monitoring. The speakers are automatically shut off when a plug is inserted into this jack.
Sustain: A dedicated front-panel Sustain button that can add a fixed, automatic sustain to the keyboard Voices. A rear-panel 1/4" jack lets you use an optional footswitch, such as the Yamaha FC4A (sold separately), for turning the Sustain on and off.
Aux Input: A rear-panel 3.5mm Auxiliary Input lets you play audio from a portable playback device through the PSR-EW410's built-in speakers, letting you play along with your favorite music. The playback device's volume control will be used to balance the blended sounds. This input also can be used for sampling external sounds.
USB: Two rear-panel USB ports are provided:
- USB To Host: A USB type-B (2.0) can be used for connecting a computer or smart device, letting you transfer songs and sounds to and from the keyboard, as well as sending and receiving MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) data for editing sounds, pitch, etc. on music production software (sold separately). The USB To Host port also lets you connect a smart device and use select Apps that let you expand the PSR-EW410's functionality, such as Cloud Audio Recorder, Visual Performer, Sound Controller, and more. These take advantage of the device's touchscreen for operations like pitch bend and modulation using an X/Y pad, and creating visual animations from your MIDI based performances.
- USB To Device: A USB type-A (2.0) can be used for saving and storing sounds and performances to a flash drive. The maximum recording time is 80 minutes or until the flash drive memory is full.
Power: The PSR-EW410 can be powered by either the included AC power supply or with batteries. A bottom-panel battery compartment can hold 6 "D" cell batteries (not included) for portable use.
