About the JBL PRX418S

PRX 400 Series
PRX 400 Series
JBL designed their PRX400 Series passive speakers with the high power handling and extended frequency response required by nightclubs, DJs, churches, concerts, and other applications. These speakers house JBL's road-tested components in rugged, road-worthy enclosures, so you can expect reliable performance night after night.
Bass in your face
The PRX418S subwoofer houses a JBL Selenium SWS1000 18" woofer in a compact, ported, hardwood enclosure, handling up to 800 watts continuous power (or 3200 watts peak). Properly amplified, this subwoofer will bring a whole new dimension to your performance, where the audience hears and feels the low notes.
Bang for your buck
JBL built the rugged enclosure from 0.7" birch/poplar laminate with an 16-gauge steel grille and JBL's DuraFlex finish. A 36mm pole mounting socket allows the JRX218S to serve as the base for a mid/high speaker cabinet, like JBL's PRX415. The JRX218S offers the performance and durability JBL is known for in a tough, compact package. It's a convenient way to go way down deep.

I replaced a 20-year-old 15-inch JBL sub with the PRX418S, and the difference is amazing. This is in a home theater/audio system, and I power the sub with 500 watts from a McIntosh amplifier. It's great!
