I had an HT-6. I replaced it with the HTX-6. Awesome sound. Thank you

Pros: Great sound.

Cons: Allen wrench to take cover off. Wasn't a plug and play from switching from my old HT-6 to the HTX-6. No biggy though. Love the sound

Looks like I received a bad one right out of the box. Clips at higher volume. Here is the great part. Send it back to Wet Sounds for warranty. Nice the boating season is about 3 months in Pa. and I will be without a stereo. Not happy with this especially from Crutchfield. How about you replace it and you deal with the factory. I bought it and a whole lot more from you. May very well be the end of my relationship with either company

Pros: None at this point never really worked

Cons: To light to be an anchor, definitely not a quality product at this time. I did try to call wet sounds 2 times 45 and 35 minute wait time just to have call answered.

Wet Sounds HTX-6

Installed on a Santa Cruz 70 running 6 Bose Marine speakers from a Rockford Fosgate head unit. Great sound and was able to run two zones off one amp. Like the hidden controls so no one can mess with them, more protection from dust and moisture, and they are a set and forget thing anyway.

Pros: Single amp for six speakers, easy install, great sound and plenty of power

Cons: None yet

Sounds good, but little issues.

I installed this amplifier to power four wet sounds 6.5" marine speakers. I am pleased with the sound, but not as impressed with the build quality and features of the amplifier. This amplifier has a plate that must be removed, with two tiny allen head bolts, to adjust the settings on the amplifier, this is kind of annoying since other amps have figured out how to mount these settings on the sides where no tools are required to access them. I also was not thrilled with the quality of the speaker wire binding slots. The screws did not hold my speaker wires well, and one came loose already (while the boat was parked in my garage). They screws themselves feel weak, like they are going to strip out, when turned with a tiny phillips head screwdriver. I would prefer spring loaded slots that come with other amplifiers, no chance of stripping those. I will say that it powers my four speakers very well, and the sound is good, just not sure I would recommend for the other issues I mentioned.

Pros: Sounds nice

Cons: Speaker wire terminals, and setting access could use improvement.

It was time for an upgrade. There are 6 batteries running my boat stereo with many amps and 27 speakers. After blowing a few year old amp and reading so many good things about this amp I decided to give it a try. I'm sold!!!! I will now be replacing most of my other amps with wet sounds. The sound is warm and inviting. Highs are crisps and vocals are clear. Most definitely recommend!!!

Pros: Excellent power management (very important to me). Small package. Ease of install and adjustability

Cons: None

I installed this in my 2007 Albemarle Offshore fishing boat. Straight forward installation instructions. Quality construction. Great addition to my sound system.

Pros: Great unit for the price. I was able to expand my system to 6 speakers, very easily.

Features

Marine Amplifier: The Wet Sounds Hydro-Tech X (HTX) series amplifiers are equipped with conformal coated PCBs, and are specifically designed for marine applications. In addition, the amp features completely sealed, salt-water compliant, high mass heat sinks and stainless steel hardware that resists corrosion.

Extended Side Panels: The amplifier's side panels extend approximately 1/2" below the bottom of the amplifier chassis. This allows air to circulate under the amp for cooling purposes. It also allows you to hide the wiring under the chassis.

Logo: The Wet Sounds logo badge can be mounted over the dual-illumination status LED on the top of the amp. The LED light shows around the edges of the logo to let you observe the amp's status. When the amplifier goes into protection mode, the LED light will flash a red diagnostic sequence to aid you in troubleshooting.

Control Panel: The control panel is protected by a cover to help keep the controls dry, and to prevent unwanted adjustments. The cover screws can be removed with the supplied 2.5mm Allen wrench. These rotary controls require the use of a flat-head screwdriver (not supplied) to make adjustments. Except for the Input Mode switch, this 6-channel amplifier features independent controls for CH1+2, CH3+4, and CH5+6. The controls includes:

  • Input Mode: The amp features separate Input Mode switches for CH3+4 and CH5+6 determines the input source of those channel pairs. In the 2CH position, the input signal from the Channel 1 and Channel 2 RCA inputs is carried over to Channels 3+4 and 5+6. In this position, you will not have fading capabilities between the front and rear outputs. In the 4CH and 6CH positions, all channels each have separate input signals, and fading between the front and rear outputs is possible.
  • Input Gain: The Input Gain controls let you match the amplifier to the source unit. The input sensitivity of the amp ranges from 0.2V to 6.1V.
  • Crossover Frequency: The amplifier's built-in Crossovers are continuously variable from 50 Hz to 250 Hz, with a slope of 12dB/octave.
  • Crossover Switch: The Crossover Switch lets you set the built-in crossovers to high-pass or low-pass operation. There is no Full Range position.

Connections: The HTX-6's wiring connections are on the front of the amplifier, and are protected by the removable top panel. The connections are as follows:

  • Power/Ground/Turn-on: The amplifier has set screw terminals for the power, ground, and remote turn on. These connections require a Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) to tighten/loosen the set screws. The power and ground terminals will accept up to 4 AWG wire, while the remote turn-on terminal will take up to 6 AWG.
    • Wiring Recommendations: A 4-gauge amplifier wiring kit should be used to connect the amplifier. An 80A fuse should be placed on the power wire within 18" of the battery.
  • Fuses: The amplifier is protected by two 40-amp ATO blade-type fuses.
  • Preamp Inputs: Three pairs of RCA inputs (CH1+2, CH3+4, CH5+6) are provided for connecting the input signal from the source unit.
  • Speaker: The speaker output has removable Phoenix (or Euroblock) connectors with captive C-clamp terminals for each channel. These C-clamps will accept 12 AWG to 16 AWG speaker wire, and require a small flat-head or Phillips-head screwdriver (not included) to tighten/loosen the clamps.

I would have to go back and look at the manual, but Crutchfield should be able to answer I am running six speakers with it and a separate powered sub. I seem to remember you can bridge two channels together to run a sub though.

In my boat, I'm running 4 6-1/2", 4 6x9, and a 12" sub using this amp. Seems to work fine.

How much does this weigh? I am comparing to the JL M600

A
There is no provided weight specification from the manufacturer. I can tell you that the amplifier has a "shipping weight" of 8 lbs. That's the amp in the manufacturer's packaging with included accessories and manual. I hope that helps. My bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan
