Made for life on the water

These Wet Sounds speakers aren't just for show, though. They're made for marine use, with strong, durable Nylas™ (a combination of nylon and fiberglass) speaker frames and grilles that are tough enough to withstand the rigors of life on the water. Durable, pliable rubber is used on the spiders, the speaker surrounds, and the protective magnet boot to keep moisture and corrosion from ruining the party. The tweeter's even mounted directly to the grille, eliminating any chance of water getting into the woofer's interior.

These speakers are built for boating, but they're also a great choice if you're outfitting an off-road vehicle that sees frequent use in muddy, dirty, and wet conditions.

Product Research

Features

Nylas Basket and Grille: Both the speaker frame and grille are made of Nylas, a composite mix of Nylon and Fiberglass, providing strength and stability. The grille is not removable.

Rubber Spider: Durability is further improved by the rubber spider Wet Sounds developed for their marine speakers.

Tweeters: The tweeters are mounted to the grilles, rather than to a pole piece, thus there is no chance of water leaking through the woofer cone.

I have these installed on my boat. 2 pair. Ones pair runs through an amp and one pair does not. I do notknow the power of the amp, but for marine speakers, I am very happy with them. They sound great. I will probably being buying a third pair and upgrading my current amp so that I have everything running through it.
[ MATTHEW  Jul 21, 2017 ]

I am running a Sync 4 DX amp with 6 of the xs-650 speakers and it is amazing sound.
[ Keith  Jul 21, 2017 ]

I have a jl 400/4 marine amp that are running those speakers on my boat and it's loud
[ JOSH  Jul 21, 2017 ]

Wet sounds r the bomb for sure...I'd probably go with one of their 300w peak speakers just so u have a little head room with peak power. I'm pushing 200w peak out my amp and the 650's handle it w/o issue. With a 400w system I'd think you would want a little more room. The guys at crust field would better be able to answer a his question. Wet sound speakers r a top of the line product. U will not b disappointed at all.

Q
What are the watts ratings for these? Also what is the mounting depth required?
[ Paul  Jun 11, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
They are rated for up to 100 watts RMS and have a mounting depth of 3.1". We'll be adding this information to our "Overview" tab on the speaker's main webpage in the near future. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Do the 650s have crossovers on them?
[ cooltools123  Mar 19, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
There is no external crossover to mount but the built-in tweeter is high-passed. Hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
Does the silver grill come off so that it can be mounted with an existing speaker grill for a more discreet installation?
[ SanDiegoJeep  May 24, 2016 ]

A
The tweeter is conformed into the grill yes, so here's the sum of it all if it is the grill you wish to remove it can be done by removing the screws on backside but the tweeter will be removed as well :(
[ Chris  May 26, 2016 ]
A
Yes, the grill can be removed with a small Phillips head screw driver. There are roughly 5-6 screws on backside of the grill. Hope this helps with the question
[ Chris  May 26, 2016 ]
A
I do not believe the grill comes off. The tweeter is mounted to it
[ John  May 25, 2016 ]
A
No. It is part of the assembly of the speaker. Plus, it's wetsounds...show them off!
[ Jon  May 25, 2016 ]
