About the Monitor Audio CPC120
Ideal for overhead sound in small spaces
Ideal for overhead sound in small spaces
Have a cozy kitchen, home office, or other small space where you want music playing overhead? Monitor Audio's CPC120 in-ceiling speakers are worth a look as part of your custom-installed audio system.
Their ultra-compact design allows them to fit into spaces where larger speakers can't. Use them in conjunction with other Controlled Performance Series speakers for balanced, voice-matched sound throughout your system.
A built-in enclosure elevates performance
One of my favorite features of the CPC120 is the back-box that's built onto each speaker.
This carefully designed enclosure helps each speaker deliver consistently focused, well-balanced sound no matter what kind of space is behind it in your ceiling. It also keeps dust and dirt out.
DIY installation
If this is a do-it-yourself install, check out our guide to installing in-ceiling speakers, along with our selection of in-wall speaker wire.

Features
2" Micro-Driver: The Monitor Audio CPC120 in-ceiling speaker is outfitted with a single 2" full-range micro-driver featuring a 1" long-throw voice coil and die-cast aluminum chassis. Although miniaturized, the 2" micro-driver utilizes technologies found across other Monitor Audio loudspeakers, allowing the CPC120 to blend sonically with other Monitor Audio floorstanding, bookshelf, stand-mount, in-ceiling, and in-wall speakers for a perfectly optimized sound anywhere in your home.
Dedicated Enclosure: Its precision engineered micro-design allows it to offer a surprisingly coherent and detailed performance from a standard halogen down-lighter hole. The secret to its success is that in spite of its size, and unlike many other in-ceiling speakers, the CPC120 provides a dedicate enclosure for the driver, giving improved quality and consistency to midrange frequencies wherever the CPC120 is installed.
Spring-Post Terminals: The Monitor Audio CPC120 is equipped with gold-plated spring-post speaker terminals that will accept up to 12AWG speaker wire. Due to the design of the speaker, plus the size and spacing of the spring-post terminals, you cannot use pin-connectors, spade lugs, or banana plugs.
Mounting Options: The CPC120 includes spring-clips for quick and simple installation in your ceiling. The CPC120 requires a 2.5" (diameter) x 3.625" (depth) cutout. The CPC120 in-ceiling loudspeaker can only installed in plasterboard (drywall) or suspended ceilings up to 1.75" thick.
Thermal Protection Device: The CPC120 has an integrated thermal protection device. This helps to protect the driver from permanent damage. If the speaker stops working after a long period of play, turn off the source for approximately 10 minutes and then try to play it again later.
