The Virtual Sound Tool works

Very pleased with this purchase. I went with the Monitor Audio C165s to replace floor standing PSB speakers in a 7.1 surround set up. I chose the speakers using the Crutchfield virtual sound tool. I was really impressed with how close the actual sound is to the sound on the virtual tool. While the tool is accurate, they definitely sound even better in person. I am using a Sony STR DH750 receiver with 90 watts per channel, and installed 5 speakers in the main room for surround sound with an additional 2 speakers acting as a second sound zone in the kitchen. Audio separation from room to room and speaker to speaker is amazing. The mid and high frequency sound is crisp, clear and really shines with vocals and instrumental music. I coupled the speakers with an existing PSB 350 subwoofer. While they have pretty good punch on their own, the subwoofer is a necessity. I have mostly been using them for music, but believe they will perform well for surround sound based on the vocals and separation noted above. Installation went well. The template provides an exact fit in terms of cutting a hole in the drywall. As other people have commented, it is a bit of a shoulder work-out to hold the speaker and use a screw driver to clamp the three legs in place. Probably best as a two person job because it takes a number of turns by hand to clamp everything down. Great overall experience!
Pros: Outstanding vocal and instrumental sound. Easy in ceiling install. Blend beautifully with white ceiling Flush mounted grills
Cons: Needs a subwoofer

Monitor Audio C165

I have not yet installed my new wall mount speakers but I did my home vvork. I plan to match these with floor standing monitor audio bronze front speakers. I anticipate that these will be a perfect match.
