We purchased a pair of these for our master bedroom and have a pair of the CT280s in the master bathroom. We are running these with the Onkyo RZ800. The CT380s are very well balanced, and excel in the mid ranges compared to a lot of others. As with all Monitor Audio speakers, vocals are extremely clear. Make sure you have reasonable expectations. Yes they are pricey, but they are still in ceiling speakers. We have a theater room in our home that has the Silver 10s for fronts, they are no where near that (as expected). They are rated for down to 50 hz, but they do start getting a little muddy under 90 hz. We set the crossover for both pair at 90 hz and have an SVS 10 inch sealed sub to accompany. This balances these very well. The CT280s are also a great speaker but do not fill the mid range like the CT380s. We got the 280s for the humidity in the bathroom. The CT380s do seem to have more of a break in period than the 280s so be patient. With 50+ hours, they really have started to sound even better. For a well balanced sound, add a sub though. We set the sub for a 120 hz crossover which works quite well. Most importantly, know your application. We play a fair amount of Pandora as well as cds. The 380s will bring out the flaws in the music on MP3s. However, they really outshine the 280s on cds. If you are going to be listening to MP3s or radio, save the money and go with the 280s. If you really like lossless music, go with the 380s.
Pros: Well balanced sound Sound continues to improve with break in Outshine many speakers in the mid range Excel in lossless music
Cons: Pricey Need a sub for well rounded sound as they get muddy below 90 hz

Installing in ceiling speakers with a compromise between me and my other half. As someone that has had Monitor Audio Speakers for over ten year I am aware of how balanced these speakers can sound, however I was not sure that I would be able to get the balanced sound that I was use to from a floor speaker in an in ceiling speaker. I am happy to report that I have no regrets with this purchase. These speakers sound balanced and clean, very clear highs and decent lows. I have no regrets purchasing these speakers and am very happy with the sound. I will tell you that they are big so make sure that you have the required space. Also these speakers will require a decent amp to drive them. I have four of them in one room and currently have them hooked up to a Marantz Integrated Amplifier (PM5004) and they sound amazing, however when pushed beyond normal listening levels the amp will shut down. While these speakers are somewhat expensive, they provide a lot of value of you like to listen to hit quality music.
Pros: Great sound (good balance between highs and lows) Easy to install
Cons: Need a good Amp Big
