About the Monitor Audio IWB-10

Optimize your in-wall subwoofer's sound

IWB-10 back panel closeup

The IWB-10 comes pre-wired with high-quality external speaker connectors that help simplify installation.

If you're installing your Monitor Audio in-wall sub in a new home under construction (or in a room that's undergoing major renovation), use Monitor's IWB-10 enclosure for the best possible sound. This "in-wall cabinet" is custom made for the IWS-10 in-wall subwoofer. The engineers at Monitor carefully designed the enclosure to allow the woofer to achieve optimum low-frequency response. The rigid MDF construction and rugged vinyl laminate finish keep the bass tight and clean, while reducing the amount of bass radiated into adjacent rooms. For easier installation, the box is pre-wired with high-quality external speaker connectors, and Monitor provides adjustable steel mounting brackets.

Product Research

In-Wall Back Box: The Monitor Audio IWB-10 in-wall back box is designed specifically to provide optimum performance for Monitor Audio's IWS-10 in-wall passive subwoofer (893IWS10, sold separately). While providing the ideal environment for the IWS-10 in-wall subwoofer, the IWB-10 will also reduce the radiation of sound to adjacent rooms.

MDF Construction: The IWB-10 is a sealed pre-construction back box, built from MDF and laminated with a rugged black Sandex vinyl finish.

Installation: The IWB-10 is designed to fit between standard 14" stud spacing or 16" on-center. It comes supplied with adjustable steel fixing brackets. For easier installation, the IWB-10 is pre-wired with external terminals.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Can these be mounted vertically anywhere in the room, or do they need to be near ground level?

I just mounted one at ground level at the front of the room and one at 51" (at the woofer's center) at the rear of the room. A lot of this has to do with my stud spacing. The subs are on the way so I haven't gotten them hooked up yet but I'll update this once I've got it all up and running. Since subs are non-directional I'm not anticipating any issues.

The sound experts might have better advice For placement, but you can put it anywhere you have the space for it in a wall (full stud-to-stud with nothing else in the bay). I did mount mine fairly low, below a window, centered in the room.
