Beautiful to behold, listen to, and feel

This thing really kicks--in a nimble, musical way. It's also way better-looking than most subwoofers, closer to vintage furniture than modern electronics. It's significantly bigger than the 380, more so than the measurements suggest; it's also even more handsome, better-proportioned. It pairs very well with Revel M106s in a small, "soft" room. It might almost be too much in a more "live" room, or with weaker speakers. I don't have much experience with subwoofers, but this one enriches everything from classical to salsa appropriately. It doesn't really "enhance" bass from the main speakers so much as add another dimension, a different texture. Even through a carpet and couch, with no attempt at optimal placement, you feel it as much as hear it. Unlike my gouged 380, this Scratch&Dent model was unblemished.
Pros: lovely cabinetry, strong but subtle sound
Cons: a bit pricey
