Well reknowned sound

A responsive polypropylene cone provides high internal damping for smoother frequency response, and Audiofrog uses a 1" copper voice coil to enhance power handling. Audiofrog designed their fabric dome tweeter to deliver the high-frequency details in a well-powered, component system. Designed for superior accuracy, the expansive 1" fabric dome tweeter delivers highs with a natural, silky, smooth quality, eliminating the distortion and ringing created by some metal and plastic domes.

Features

Adapter Rings: The included adapter rings allow installation in numerous factory applications. Without the adapter rings the woofers fit many standard 6 3/4 locations. They will also fit standard 6 1/2 openings, but the bolt pattern is different, so you'd have to drill new screw holes. The adapter rings include standard 6 1/2 and Ford 6 1/2 bolt patterns, as well as specialized 6 3/4 bolt patterns. Please enter your specific vehicle information to confirm fit.

Power Handling: Audiofrog lists two RMS power figures in the manual; 50 watts RMS in the technical specifications section and 15-75 watts RMS in the recommendations section.

Tweeter Mounting: In addition to fitting many factory tweeter applications, flush mounting hardware is included.

Mounting Depth Mounting Height Frame Diameter Cutout Diameter
Flush Mount 0.519"
(1.140" w/ stud bolt)
0.301" 2.135" 1.875"

Crossovers: Each channel uses separate in-line crossovers for the woofer and tweeter, making them easy to install when the drivers are in different locations. The 12" input wire and 12" output wire are attached to each crossover. The 6 dB/octave low pass crossovers have female quick-slides on the outputs that connect to the woofer terminals. The 12 dB/octave high pass crossovers have harnesses on the outputs that connect to the harnesses on the wire attached to the tweeters. The crossover point for both is 4 kHz.

Crossover Dimensions:

  • Width: 2.325"
  • Height: 1.74"
  • Depth: 0.84"

Customer Q&A

Q
How many watts should I run to the woofer and tweeter respectively since I'm going active with these speakers? I have an Audison AP8.9bit 8 channel amp w/ DSP that produces 35 watts per channel. Should I bridge 4 of the channels to give 65 watts each to the woofers or is that too much?

Greetings Chance, and thank you for your question. I reached out to Audiofrog, and they came back with each of the woofer, and tweeter will handle 50 watts RMS. To be safe we would only recommend going with the recommended power to any speaker.

Q
Are the tweeters 15rms @ 4ohm. And the woofers 50rms @ 4ohm?

I have the same question. It's been asked several times but never answered.

I'm not really sure. I have 45rms going to both.

Q
I have 2 -10" subwoofers (JLTW3's) with a total of 800 rms. Will these be enough since they are only 50 rms? I plan on hooking them to my front doors with a JL audio 75x4. And the audiofrog coaxials in my back doors

I have one 12 inch audiofrog gb12, Im giving it a 1000 watts of power at 1 ohm. It is an extremely capable sub. My uncle has 2 12 inch w3s in his car with 500 watts of power and and my gb12 hits harder and sounds better. It can sometimes be too much for the g60s if you like your bass to hit super hard, I personally don't so it works out just fine for me. The g60s get super loud and clear without distorting. I've recorded it at 108 decibels and they still sound clear as day. My amp for my door speakers is a Zapco 65x4 and my back speakers are audiofrog gs62s coaxial. I've rode around with my bass knob at halfway and shaking everything in my 4Runner and at times the g60s struggled at times to keep up. I've heard in fb groups if you go gs60 and gs10 tweeters, they keep up more with a lot of bass. I'll go gb 3 way eventually but that's what I have now. I had one jl 8 inch w3 before the gb12 and it wasn't enough for me.

I like the Audiofrogs better than the JL's for their clarity, and installed the frogs in my front doors, JL components in the rear, with a 10 inch sub and 300 watt JL sub amp. Fifty watts is quite a bit, and my sub is 300, sounds crazy good. I, too, wanted to up the watts, but no real reason too. Frogs are NOT ear shredding hip hop speakers, they're for people who listen to REAL MUSIC, lol, and want quality over noise. I suggest using the Crutchfield's speaker comparison tool online. I was going to use JL all around, until I listened to the Frogs. They are like crystal clear without any of the unpleasant shrillness of cheaper components. Hope this helps.

Q
Would this require a DSP if I am planning on using an amp?
[ AREN  Jul 05, 2021 ]

A
Nah they have passive crossovers. The little square guys with wires go between your amp and speaker, and there is 1 crossover per speaker. If you're looking for something that sounds good, but scales as you upgrade your other components I think they're great, and a dsp definitely improved my experience with them, while cleaning up my install. I believe all of the other audiofrog speakers except the sub do require a dsp tho.

No the speakers sound great,if you have newer car the factory stereo may limit the sound quality because of a lack of power and factory eq ,I have a 2019 Accord sport they sound great with the factory unit but I do plan to get an amp to get the best out of them
[ DENNIS  Jul 05, 2021 ]
A
DSP & amplifier have different functions. No, you do not need a Digital signal processor. Just amplification of some sort

Do I need and amp to run these? I donâ??t have an amp to run these.

You could run them off of a head unit, but I would definitely recommend an amplifier for these.

Yes you can they sound great, but an amplifier will make them sound even better

You don't need to run an amp but they sound better with on

I love these speakers. I have all audiofrog in my car. I have mine on an amp, but based on the power requirements I imagine you would be fine running them off your head unit. I would ask one of the pro's at Crutchfield. Good luck with your system :)
[ Jayson  Feb 17, 2021 ]
A
Yes, a deck alone would under power these fine speakers and they will distort. If you have the $$ to splurge on these speakers, get a decent amp to drive them. Trust me, ypu will not be dissapointed, they are awesome.
[ WILLIAM  Feb 17, 2021 ]
Q
Why 4 crossovers instead of 2? I get that one goes for each speaker but this seems inefficient. Is there some benefit?
[ Jacob  Feb 09, 2020 ]

A
Hello, The midrange speakers have a low-pass filter, which prevents the high signals from reaching the speaker. In this case, the low pass filter is a simple inductor in series with the speaker coil. The tweeters have a high-pass filter, which prevents the low signals from reaching the tweeter. In this case, the high-pass filter is a capacitor plus resistor in series with the speaker coil. The resistor is necessary because it takes a lot less energy to vibrate a smaller speaker, so it keeps the midrange and treble in balance without requiring a tunable external amplifier. I'm using these speakers with my stock stereo and no external amplifier, and they sound amazing.
[ DAVID D  Feb 09, 2020 ]
Q
Can I run this setup with just 1 two channel amp? Or do I need an amp for the mids and an amp for the tweeters?
[ RICK  May 06, 2019 ]
4 answers
A
of course you can, it really doesn't require a lot of power. I have these for front and rear and a sub with a 5 channel amp.
[ Glenda  May 25, 2019 ]
A
You can run them with just two channels (as I am doing) or you could run them with four channels. Either way they sound great!
[ ANDREW  May 16, 2019 ]
A
So if you run passive and will be using the crossovers then only a 2 ch amp will suffice. But if you wish to go active then you would need to not use the crossovers and will need 4 channels.
[ anton  May 15, 2019 ]
A
Passive crossovers are provided, so just 1 two channel amp will work
