About the Audiofrog GS42

Make the leap to better sound

The low profile of the GS42 tweeter makes it a better fit in the factory location of more vehicles.
Make the leap to better sound
If you haven't heard of Audiofrog yet, here's what you need to know – there's no one like them. Drawing on decades of collective experience in the car audio field, the folks at Audiofrog have translated their practical knowledge of what makes great sound into the GS42, a no-nonsense, high-quality coaxial speaker.
Let's start with the 4" woofer — a strong polypropylene cone gives you terrific response, while its parabolic shape and 1" copper voice coil ensure impressive power handling. The GS42's 3/4" tweeter takes on the high frequencies with gusto thanks to an incredibly resilient soft dome design, while minimal tweeter protrusion allows these speakers to fit in more vehicles. But here's where Audiofrog separates themselves from the pack — this coaxial speaker sports a true 2-way crossover network that's built into the basket to ensure the right frequencies go to the right drivers for a seamless transition between highs and lows.
Road-tested
You'll want to power these speakers with an outboard amp to hear their incredible clarity. The confident sound of the GS42 is built upon a full one hundred of hours of testing and abuse, during which these speakers have to perform under the strain of extreme heat, humidity, and cold. This commitment to quality means that your Audiofrog speakers will deliver beautiful sound in your car for many, many years.

Features
Tweeter: The 3/4" polyester fabric dome tweeter uses a neodymium magnet and includes a reflection absorbing and diffusing foam pad to smooth the high frequency output.
Waveguide: The tweeter includes a small waveguide designed to boost the tweeter's low frequencies and ensure a smooth transition to the midrange.
Crossover: Frequency division is controlled by a 12dB/octave high pass filter and 6dB/octave low pass filter. The entire crossover network is mounted to a PC board integrated into the basket, which also secures the terminals.
Power Handling: Audiofrog lists two RMS power figures in the manual; 50 watts RMS in the technical specifications section and 15-75 watts RMS in the recommendations section.

I needed some 4" speakers that could handle high power from my existing multichannel amp and took a chance on these. The audio quality is excellent and the grilles have a nice, understated look.
