Make the leap to better sound

If you haven't heard of Audiofrog yet, here's what you need to know – there's no one like them. Drawing on decades of collective experience in the car audio field, the folks at Audiofrog have translated their practical knowledge of what makes great sound into the GS62, a no-nonsense, high-quality coaxial speaker.

Let's start with the 6-3/4" woofer — a strong polypropylene cone gives you terrific response, while its parabolic shape and 1" copper voice coil ensure impressive power handling. The GS62's 1" tweeter takes on the high frequencies with gusto thanks to an incredibly resilient soft dome design, while minimal tweeter protrusion allows these speakers to fit in more vehicles. But here's where Audiofrog separates themselves from the pack — this coaxial speaker sports a true 2-way crossover network that's built into the basket to ensure the right frequencies go to the right drivers for a seamless transition between highs and lows.

You'll want to power these speakers with an outboard amp to hear their incredible clarity. The confident sound of the GS62 is built upon a full one hundred of hours of testing and abuse, during which these speakers have to perform under the strain of extreme heat, humidity, and cold. This commitment to quality means that your Audiofrog speakers will deliver beautiful sound in your car for many, many years.

Wow! I have 75 watts going to this set and whammy! Glad I found these. They remind me of listening to the beats studio headphones, clean, loud, amazing. Pad those doors and buy once, cry once. I want more audiofrog in my car, can't imagine what that GB line sounds like

Pros: Can blow your ears off without distorting under proper tuning and x-over

Cons: Price isn't too bad once you get these suckers pumping

Install in a 90 wrangler and they made a huge difference. In fairness the old speakers were rotted away however as a long time audio nerd I understood good sound and it delivered. On the interstate you can still hear these easily. I recommend them highly.

Pros: Easy install if you understand Jeeps

Cons: None found

I have a very unique install for a custom built rear deck (Right behind my head) for my 2002 Chrysler Prowler. Originally went with JL Audio 6 3/4 which were above average in sound but lacked what I was looking for in over-all appearance since I'm not using the supplied grills (Good speaker though). So I moved to Focal based on reputation and quality of build... They had the "Look"... They had the quality... However, they forgot the sound... Very disappointed and in simple terms hurt my ears with zero bass response and tiny mids and high's... So I decided to give the GS 62 from Audiofrog a shot... They have the look I needed and appear to have a solid build... Installed... crossed my fingers... turned up the volume and "BOOM"!!!!! PERFECT!!!! 5 star sound!!! Warm, crisp, and in simple terms.. "Awesome"!!!!!! I rarely rate a product but these were worth my time.... Going to buy a 2nd pair for the doors.... Way-to-go Audiofrog... Well done right!!!!

Pros: Warm, crisp, and quality speaker

Cons: Non yet...

I am not an audiophile but i could notice a huge difference between these speakers and my stock subaru speakers. I only changed the front door speakers due to the fact that the oem passenger side speaker blew twice.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 2 sets for my Subaru WRX 2017. I also added the audio frog GB10 tweeters in the front corners. Let me first say although the speakers are still braking in it sounds fantastic, never had this sound quality in my cars before. I am a critical listener but am always hesitant paying top dollars for my car sound system. This time I went for the audiofrog and kept the original front end. I also dynamatted all doors and used also 1/8" dynaliner on top of the dynamat. Lets talk about the installation. The front door speaker; you can use the supplied installation ring, you need to drill one hole your self though. I used Parts Express Speaker Gasketing Tape 1/8" x 3/8" between the installation ring and between the installation ring and the speakers. The backdoor speaker; you can NOT use the installation ring. I drilled 4 new holes for the speaker direct to the door. I used again the Parts Express Speaker Gasketing Tape 1/8" x 3/8" but now I did two times to fill the the big gaps due to the door folds. It is sturdy and air tight now. The GB10 tweeters, I used an 8.2 microfarad film capacitor as crossover. Yes they install in the original place, take care that the tweeter is flush, so the installation brackets slightly bend upwards, other wise the original grill is touching the speaker. Again all in all very happy with sound, very detailed and great resolution, surprised about the full warm mid-bass, no sub-woofer for me needed any more. Highly rec

Pros: Super sound.

Cons: Some drilling required.

Great Coax Speakers

Bill S. from So Cal on 5/21/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was at first hesitant to buy Audiofrog speakers due to the minimum amount of information (reviews) and it being a new company. After doing as much research as possible, I decided to buy them from Crutchfield. I bought the GS62 for my front doors and the GS42 for rear fill. After modifying the stock speaker enclosures to accept the Audiofrog's, they were wired up with 12ga wire and connected to an Arc Audio Kar Series KS 300.4 amp. The head unit is a Kenwood KDC-X998. Extensive Dynamat was used for doors and trunk. The first CD I played was a classical recording of Stradivarius violins and violas. I was blown away with how good these coax speakers sounded. After playing more CDs of classical, acoustic Jazz & classic rock over the past 2 weeks I'm still quite impressed. They are more tonally accurate than all coax speakers I've heard in the past and are pretty close to the Boston Pro (old school) separates in my other vehicle. All instruments are reproduced well... Have I heard better? Yes, but not in this price range, and not by the other coax speakers I auditioned. I'm very pleased with this purchase. On the downside, after 3 hours of listening, the glue holding the surround on one of the GS42's separated. I called Crutchfield and they would have sent me another pair but they were out of stock and did not expect more for 2 weeks. A call to the owner of Audiofrog resulted in a new pair of speakers the next day.

Pros: Great Sounding Good Service at Crutchfield Great Company (Manufacturer)

Cons: Product defect that was quickly resolved

Product Research

Tweeter: The 1" polyester fabric dome tweeter uses a neodymium magnet and includes a reflection absorbing and diffusing foam pad to smooth the high frequency output.

Waveguide: The tweeter includes a small waveguide designed to boost the tweeter's low frequencies and ensure a smooth transition to the midrange.

Crossover: Frequency division is controlled by a 12dB/octave high pass filter and 6dB/octave low pass filter. The entire crossover network is mounted to a PC board integrated into the basket, which also secures the terminals.

Power Handling: Audiofrog lists two RMS power figures in the manual; 70 watts RMS in the technical specifications section and 15-75 watts RMS in the recommendations section. We've listed the recommended range in the specs table.

Adapter Rings: The included adapter rings allow installation in numerous factory applications. Without the adapter rings the GS62 fits many standard 6 3/4 locations. They will also fit standard 6 1/2 openings, but the bolt pattern is different, so you'd have to drill new screw holes. The adapter rings include standard 6 1/2 and Ford 6 1/2 bolt patterns, as well as specialized 6 3/4 bolt patterns. Please enter your specific vehicle information to confirm fit.

Efficiently/Effectively, I am going to say no. They will make noise, but certainly not what they are capable of. This level of speaker, price quality etc..., really does require an amplifier and quality speaker wire to preform at a level that justifies the price. [ Troy  Sep 22, 2017 ]
