Little giant

Since their introduction, Audiofrog's car speakers have been celebrated for their high quality and superior sound. The GS8ND2 8" speaker gives you the versatility to install it as a subwoofer or as a mid-bass speaker in systems which include a separate sub.

Built for bass

With a fiberglass cone and rubber surround, the GS8ND2 punches out clear, deep bass with minimal distortion, and its solid steel basket keeps the structure steady. Its dual 2-ohm voice coils let you wire the speaker for 1 or 4 ohms, so it'll work with a variety of amplifiers. With up to 250 watts RMS power handling, you'll get plenty of volume to let you really feel the low end. Designed for use in sealed, ported, and infinite baffle applications, this speaker can be used in an enclosure or mounted in your vehicle's interior panels. And with a mounting depth of only 3", it'll work in places a sub won't normally fit.

Superior components

Audiofrog was founded by car audio installers who saw a need for superior components that could be mixed and matched to create the perfect system for a given vehicle. That's why you should consider Audiofrog's other component speakers and subs for top-flight sound in your ride.

Product Research

Features

Design: Audio frog describes the GS8ND2 as both a subwoofer and a midbass driver.

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features two 2Ω voice coils, allowing you to use it as a 1Ω load (wired in parallel) or a 4Ω load (wired in series).

Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume is 0.25 ft³ (0.25 ft³ to 0.4 ft³ acceptable). A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequencies.

Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume is 0.5 ft³ (0.5 ft³ to 0.75 ft³ acceptable), with a 2" diameter x 8⅞" long port; resulting in a tuning frequency of 40 Hz.

Free-Air: The woofer can also be mounted in free air (infinite baffle, no enclosure), so it can be installed in a variety of locations, including factory woofer applications, without the need for a dedicated enclosure.

Power Handling: Audiofrog lists two RMS power figures on the spec sheet; 250 watts RMS in the technical specifications section and 100-400 watts RMS in the recommendations section.

Q
can I connect this to the existing output of the subwoofer for a 2019 civic coupe thus replacing it? Alkso, the details says that it will run at a lower level because its higher ohgm but the detail page says it's 2ohm not 4

I installed in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler, I had to get some connectors but it sounds amazing,, fit right into the space the old one came out

it's a dual 2ohm coil so you can run it as either 1ohm or 4ohm. I suggest you measure the cutout of your current enclosure vs the the cutout of this driver to confirm fitment. That's what I did for my 2018 Audi S7 and it fit perfectly. I just had to drill new screw holes and added some gasket tape. It doesn't sound like a 12" but it bangs harder than the stock sub did.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Harman Kardon system. Will this work well with the factory amp or will I need a aftermarket amp?

I'm not a Jeep aficionado but I would not purchase this sub without first removing your factory subwoofer and confirming the size first and hopefully the ohms are stamped on the back. If the ohms on the back are 4ohm then this will work with your factory amp assuming your factory subwoofer is an 8". Make sure to measure the depth as well as cutout of your factory enclosure to also confirm this will fit just to be on the safe side but Cruthfield does list this as an option for your car. good luck.

I installed in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and they sound amazing. I did not install a different amp then the one included with the Jeep.

I sent mine back because the one I have I wired it for 2 ohms so I didn't need this one. But if your amp handles 2 ohms it should work with no problem.

Q
My 2002 Ls430 has the Mark Levinson system which I have read runs 16ohms on it's rear deck sub. This audiofrog fits but says it only runs 2x 2ohms. I'd need 2x8ohms wouldn't I?

The Dayton Audio SD215A-88 is the only 16ohm 8" subwoofer I could find, and yes you want to stick to the OEM Ohms if you're only upgrading the driver. With that said what I actually recommend is doing what I did which is upgrade the factory subwoofer driver to this audiofrog unit (still using the factory enclosure), added an aftermarket amplifier (Morel MPS 1.550) and line driver (Wavtech linkDQ) all of which I bought form crutchfield. That allowed me to have a proper amount of bass without having to worry about blowing up the factory amplifier or ohm matching anything. Any car audio shop should be able to install all 3 components for you.

Your question makes sense. My system amp runs 4 ohms if i ran the factory speaker ( 2 ohms ) the amp would run hot. Heat kills amps. I would ask crutch people to make sure !

Q
I can run 400 rms on this speaker ?

I'm driving 350w to mine using a Morel MPS 1.550, you should be fine.
