Our take on the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E6 by Crutchfield's Jeff Miller
Play music or podcasts wirelessly via Bluetooth — no cord from your phone to cause hassle.
Designer look, durable build
I can always count on Bang & Olufsen to make good-looking, nice-sounding headphones. Of course, when I wear earbuds for working out, I'm more concerned that they are durable and fit securely. The Beoplay E6 in-ears deliver there, too.
Textured rubber earpieces ensure these sweat-proof earbuds are rugged enough for exercise. Four sizes of included ear fins keep them from slipping around while you're on your morning run. And a subtle touch of Aluminum gives them B&O's trademark tasteful look — suitable for wearing throughout the day.
Dial in the sound with the Beoplay app
B&O headphones are known for their revealing, transparent highs. I can really appreciate their sound profile when I'm working at my desk. But when I'm on the elliptical, it takes a little more bass to keep me going.
The Beoplay app lets you make tonal adjustments based on mood or genre. It's a free download for Android™ and iPhone® users, and is even available on Apple Watch.
Listen while you refuel
You get about 5 hours of listening on a full charge of the battery. But the included snap-on charger is really neat — especially if you're using the headphones near your laptop or an outlet. It slips over the battery and can recharge the E6 headphones while you listen to your music.
The magnetized earpieces stick together.
And when you're done listening, stick the two earpieces together using their built-in magnets. The music will automatically stop. If you're out and about, you can wear them around your neck until you're ready to listen again.
Comfortable, custom fit
The Beoplay E6s don't just stay in place, they feel good, too. They have a light, compact design and come with a selection of ear tips to ensure they stay comfortable. There's a selection of four pairs, so you can find ones that match your ears well. There are three sizes of silicone tips and a pair of Comply™ memory foam tips.
My personal favorite choice is the Comply foam tips, because they fit snug but feel light and unobtrusive. The Comply "Sports" tips included here are extra-breathable and have a special membrane to keep moisture away from the earbuds' internal circuitry.
Rugged cord with remote for taking phone calls
B&O didn't use a run-of-the-mill cable to connect the two earpieces. The E6's cable is covered with a soft, braided textile and is dust- and sweat-proof like the earpieces. Even the inline remote is durable. It features a built-in mic so you can answer calls and control music without reaching for your phone.

Overview: The B&O Beoplay E6s wireless earphones deliver the Bang & Olufsen Signature Sound without a wired connection to your source. The earbuds fit comfortably in your ears, and naturally keep out much of the surrounding noise. The E6 features a 16" connecting cable with an in-line remote control. Four pairs of silicone ear tips, one pair of Comply foam ear tips, and three pairs of ear fins are included. The E6 weighs approximately 0.8 ounces.
Quality Built: The Beoplay E6s are crafted from high quality materials and designed to last for years. The durable, textured rubber and polymer housing features a machined aluminum plate with a laser-etched B&O logo. The braided textile cord has an in-line remote/microphone on one side, and an in-line battery/Bluetooth module on the other. The cord is molded directly into the rubber of the ear buds to prevent dirt and sweat from getting inside. Each ear bud has a built-in magnet that allows you to click them together and wear them comfortable around your neck when you're finished listening. The E6s automatically power down when you click together the magnets.
Ear Tips/Fins: The E6 comes with four pairs (XS, S, M, and L) of silicone rubber ear tips, ensuring you get an airtight fit regardless of the shape or size of your ear. In addition, the E6 includes one pair of Comply memory foam ear tips that enhance the noise canceling capabilities of the earphones. The included silicone ear fins ensure a secure fit for active lifestyles.
Remote/Mic: The in-line 3-button remote lets you control your music playback and phone calls. The outer buttons control the volume, while the center button is used to answer/end phone calls, play/pause music playback, and skip to next or previous track. You can also activate your favorite Voice Assistant (Google or Siri).
B&O Beoplay App: The B&O Beoplay app lets you customize the sound of your E6 earbuds. The ToneTouch feature lets you choose from four sound presets, or fine-tune your E6s to match your current mood and activity using your device's touchscreen. On the app, you can drag the white dot around the screen to change the sound, and pinch with two fingers to increase the spaciousness of the sound.
Note: The Beoplay App is available for iOS 9.0 or later, and for Android 5.0 and up.
Bluetooth 4.2: The E6s connect to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth 4.2. With AAC codecs, the headphones will provide excellent sound quality with very low latency issues.
Rechargeable Battery: The Beoplay E6 has a built-in Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. With its new snap-on charger, you can continue to listen while the battery is charging. The battery charges in approximately 2 hours, giving you up to 5 hours of playback time. The snap-on charger has a 49" fabric-covered USB charging cable (Type A USB).
