Firepower and flexibility
The QSC PLD4.2 amplifier delivers an impressive 400 watts RMS by 4 channels at either 4 or 8 ohms, 800 watts by 2 channels, and 1600 watts in single-channel mode. It's also stable down to 2 ohms in 2-channel mode, and even down to 1 ohm in single-channel operation. QSC's proprietary MOSFET output devices combine with Class-D power to make this amp run with remarkable efficiency, so power demands are reduced and controlled.
On the front panel, the amp offers LEDs (including limiter, clipping, and signal), select, and mute buttons for each channel, plus a master control knob and four menu control buttons. The gorgeous color LCD screen gives you a clear view of the proceedings, including graphical displays and the operating temperatures of the MOSFETs and power supply.
On the back panel, the PLD4.2 boasts four routable female XLR inputs with selectable sensitivity, and six Neutrik Speakon® outputs for the speakers (two of which are bridged). Four routable XLR line outputs are also available for daisy-chaining with other amplifiers. Integrated cast aluminum rack handles make moving the amp between shows easier, and it only takes up two spaces on your rack. The locking power inlet socket reduces the chance of an accidental unplugging mid-show.
FAST ensures reliable power delivery
QSC's Flexible Amplifer Summing Technology (FAST) actively distributes total amp power across one, two, three, or all four outputs, allowing you to get creative with your setup. You can combine full-range speakers, bi-amped speakers, and subwoofers without fear, as PLD amplifiers will get the right juice to them without sacrificing sound quality or impact.
QSC's PowerLight power supply with Power Factor Correction (PFC) keeps PLD Series amps humming. PFC aligns the current waveform with the AC main's voltage waveform, for a highly efficient and controlled current draw that'll let you get plenty of juice from a single AC breaker. Multi-stage sleep modes keep power at the ready when you need it while keeping the heat and your energy bills down. Front air inlets and a built-in fan also help to fight against thermal overload.
Comes with processing
The PLD4.2 gives you plenty of options for tuning your sound from the rack. You can utilize four channels of crossover filters, 5-band parametric EQ, alignment delay, and more. QSC's built-in Intrinsic Correction™ filtering system keeps your QSC loudspeaker array tuned to perfection. You have a choice among 50 user presets, and you can save settings for particular rigs and venues for future use.
Preset Wizard makes setup easy
QSC also includes 20 factory presets for the most common loudspeakers on the market, allowing you to quickly set up your system once you arrive at the club. All you have to do is plug in the speaker model and a few preferences and you'll be ready to rock. You can also hook the amp up to a computer and employ QSC's free Amplifier Navigation software to explore settings on a larger screen or save settings for sharing.

System Processing: PLD Series is more than just an amplifier; it is also a capable and sophisticated loudspeaker processor. The close integration of processing and amplification allows the DSP to monitor and better respond to amplifier behavior, making dynamics processing far more accurate and effective than that typically achieved with separate components. This synergistic approach employs both RMS and Peak Limiters that allow the combination of amplifier and loudspeaker to produce more output without being pushed to distortion or destruction.
4 Channel DSP: In addition to the dynamics processing, the onboard DSP offers four channels of crossover filters, parametric EQ, and alignment delay - everything needed to optimize a loudspeaker system. PLD amplifiers also offer Intrinsic Correction, a combination of IIR and FIR Filtering and loudspeaker processing methodology first developed for QSC's WideLine line array loudspeakers. Intrinsic Correction compensates for the non-linearities in loudspeaker array and horn design and results in notably superior performance from your QSC loudspeakers.
Presets: The on-board processing is managed and stored as presets. The PLD amplifier comes with 20 unchangeable factory presets, and 50 user-defined presets. For greater customization, the built-in Preset Wizard streamlines amplifier setup and provides loudspeaker selection from a list of top selling passive loudspeakers.
XLR Inputs/Outputs: There are four female XLR connectors labeled 1-4 that provide the audio inputs to the PLD amplifier. A single input can be routed to one or a combination of outputs. You can use from one to four of the inputs. The inputs are 10 kΩ balanced or unbalanced, with a selectable sensitivity of either +4or +14 dBu. There are also four male XLR connectors in parallel with the four female connectors. The male XLRs are for daisy chaining to the inputs of other amplifiers.
NL4 Outputs: The PLD Series amplifier features six NL4 output connectors - Channel A, Channel B, Channel C, Channel D, and two Bridged outputs. The PLD amplifiers have four configurable outputs. You can set the power, combine outputs (bridged and parallel), and adjust the DSP for each output. When the output configuration of the amplifier changes, the output connections, controlled by relays, change accordingly.
Simple-To-Use: With a dedicated front panel UI complete with LED meters and indicators, a 400x240 TFT color display, a rotary encoder and ergonomic navigation buttons, PLD amplifiers provide an intuitive interface for the user to control the system. The simplicity of the PLD amps is further illustrated by the fact that a complete system can be set up in mere minutes.
Space Efficient: With four channels of amplification plus drive rack signal processing in just 2RU, the PLD Series replaces equipment taking up as much as three times the rack-space.
