About the Fusion MS-NRX300

Jon Paul

Not your average marine remote

A wired remote with an LCD screen is a wonderful thing to have, especially when you're on a larger boat. Knowing which song's playing is great, but it's much more important to know what the weather is doing — or about to do. That's what makes Fusion's MS-NRX300 marine-rated remote control/repeater such a great addition to your vessel's entertainment/information system.

NMEA 2000-certified

This NMEA 2000-certified remote/repeater can communicate with other NMEA 2000 devices connected to the network. This wired remote gives you the multi-zone entertainment control you want, plus important info you need, like depth, speed, and wind direction. With the MS-NRX300, you'll be able to quickly access important NMEA 2000 network data — all in a device that fits in the palm of your hand. The MS-NRX300 monitors the following data:

  • Wind direction
  • Wind speed
  • Depth
  • Speed over ground
  • Speed through water
  • Heading
  • Position
  • Water temperature
  • Atmospheric pressure
  • ETA

Versatile, tough, and easy to install

Installing an MS-NRX300 remote in each of the independent audio zones of your vessel will give you localized zone volume and global source control. You can control each audio zone independently using multiple remotes connected to a compatible Fusion receiver, or manage your whole system from a single remote. Wherever you are, you'll see what you're doing on the multi-line 2.6" LCD screen. The bonded glass screen makes it easy to access your iPod music library and view track, artist and song information day or night.

The MS-NRX300 features a fully sealed enclosure that's rated IPX7 for water resistance, so it's perfectly happy when used on a swim platform or out on deck in the salt and spray. As a part of Fusion's rugged "True Marine" lineup, it's backed by a 3-year warranty.

Connect this remote to your NMEA 2000 network

This versatile remote is also easy to install. It comes complete with the cabling you'll need to integrate it into an existing NMEA 2000 network. All you need to do is connect the receiver and the MS-NRX300 to the same backbone for instant communication.

You'll need an additional cable to connect this remote to Fusion MS-IP700, MS-AV700 and first-gen MS-RA205 marine receivers: the CAB000860 cable for NMEA 2000 networks or the CAB000859 cable for Fusion audio-only networks.

Features

Marine Wired Remote: Fusion's MS-NRX300 marine wired remote can be used to add localized control of a compatible Fusion marine entertainment system (sold separately) to any vessel.

Compatible Fusion Products: The MS-NRX300 marine wired remote is compatible with the following Fusion marine stereos -

  • MS-UD Series: MS-UD750, MS-UD650, MS-UD755
  • MS-AV Series: MS-AV750, MS-AV650, MS-AV700i, MS-AV755
  • MS-RA Series: MS-RA70N, MS-RA205, MS-RA210, MS-RA670, MS-RA770
  • MS-BB Series: MS-BB100, MS-BB300
  • MS-IP Series: MS-IP700i

Connectivity: You can connect the MS-NRX300 remote control to a Fusion stereo using a Fusion remote control network or an existing NMEA 2000 network, depending on the stereo. Some stereo models support the powered NMEA 2000 network connection only.

  • When connecting the MS-NRX300 to an MS-UD650, MSAV650, MS-UD750 or MS-AV750 stereo through a remote control network, you must enable the NRX POWER setting to provide power to the remote control.
  • The Fusion MS-BB100 and MS-RA70N support the powered NMEA 2000 network connection only.
  • The MS-NRX300 requires an additional cable for connection to a MS-IP700i, MS-AV700 and 1st Gen MS-RA205 marine stereos. Two cables are available - CAB000860 for NMEA 2000 networks and CAB000859 for Fusion audio only networks.
  • You may need to obtain a red, NMEA 2000 Power Cable (CAB000541) and an additional NMEA 2000 T-connector (CAB000581) to create a NMEA 2000 network.

Multi-Zone Capability: You can install a MS-NRX300 remote in each independent audio zone, up to four zones depending on your Fusion marine entertainment system, to create localized volume control, as well as, global source control. Now you have even more control in creating a customized audio entertainment experience around your vessel.

Optically-Bonded 2.6" LCD Screen: The MS-NRX300 features a large, high-contrast, daylight viewable, optically-bonded 2.6" LCD screen that provides a crystal clear display and prevents fogging on the high seas - making it easy to navigate and stay in control of your marine audio entertainment experience. You can adjust the display's backlight brightness and contrast level.

IPX7 Waterproof: Perfect for installation on a swim platform, deck or within the cabins, the MS-NRX300 is designed and engineered for the marine environment. The MS-NRX3000 complies with IPX7 waterproof standards.

NMEA 2000 Certified: The MS-NRX300 is certified for connection to any NMEA 2000 network making for a quick and easy installation. Once connected, the wired remote will double as a NMEA Repeater. The MS-NRX300 remote control can be configured to display supported NMEA2000 network data from compatible marine electronics connected to the same network. The following information is available -

  • Wind Direction
  • Wind Speed
  • Depth
  • Speed Over Ground
  • Speed Through Water
  • Heading
  • Position
  • Water Temperature
  • Atmospheric Pressure
  • ETA

Mounting Options: The MS-NRX300's innovative design allows you the option of either surface-mounting the wired remote to the bulkhead or the ability to flush-mount the wired remote and integrate it into a glass helm. The wired remote control mounts flush to the bulkhead using the four included screws (3.75" x 1.6875" apart) and also requires a 1.625" cut-out to accommodate routing of the attached cable. A self-adhesive foam gasket is included to provide a secure seal between the cut-out and the wired remote. The outer dimension of the wired remote's front-panel is 4.375" (w) x 2.8125" (h) x 1.125" (d).

Is this compatible with the MS-RA210?

If the great experts at Crutchfield don't have the answer your best bet would be to call Fusion. Best Luck

Q
Can this remote link up to a clarion head unit? If so, will it also work with my Garmin Nav through NMEA 2000 network?

A
I am not aware of a way to do so. Call Fusion directly for better guidance. Good luck
[ WILLIAM  Oct 22, 2020 ]
A
I'm fairly certain that the remote is only compatible with other Fusion devices.

Q
Is this remote compatible with the MS BB 100 as well as the included remote?
[ DABNEY  Jul 17, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
the Fusion MS-NRX 300 will work with the MS BB 100 if you are using a NMEA 2000 network. The display is nice and easy to see ,compact and easy to read however, it will not directly plug into the Fusion BB100 Black box as the wired remote included with the Black Box. The NMEA 2000 network is easy to install and gives additional flexibility for other devices. A NMEA 2000 cable would be needed to connent to the network. As a side note, Garmin has fish finders and chart plotters that allow the functionality that you are looking to get.

Q
Is this compatible with the RA70 head unit?

A
Sorry I'm not sure. You'll need to ask a rep.
[ KENNETH  Apr 10, 2018 ]
A
I think it has to be the RA70N to be compatible. The head unit must have an NMEA2000 connection. Even if only connected to the remote. Connecting to a larger network is optional.

Sorry don't know. Is their webpage helpful?

Q
what size mounting hole does this require? I have the old round fusion remote that i need to replace and and wanted a remote that would fit the round hole in my dash
[ david  Aug 08, 2017 ]

The wired remote control mounts flush to the bulkhead using the four included screws (3.75" x 1.6875" apart) and also requires a 1.625" cut-out to accommodate routing of the attached cable. A self-adhesive foam gasket is included to provide a secure seal between the cut-out and the wired remote. The outer dimension of the wired remote's front-panel is 4.375" (w) x 2.8125" (h) x 1.125" (d). You will find this information, and more, by clicking the "Details" tab on the unit's main webpage. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan

It is a square head unit with the screws being in the top and bottom corners of the unit. More than likely it will not fit your current mount. I have not seen the round unit in person so I can not confirm that, but mine did have 4 screws at almost the edge of each side. Hope that helps
[ Anthony  Aug 09, 2017 ]
Q
Can this be installed flush, like the 3rd & 4th images imply? I'm considering it for a custom built car installation where I'd like the radio tucked away and hidden while the display is small & in the dash.

Had the same exact question and figured out that the grey top/down sides come off the remote to allow you to flush mount it. You need to slide them up, there are two clips at the bottom of each cover, about 0.6" from right/left side. Slide something thin between the bottom edge of the remote and the grey side to lift it up, it should come right off.

Interesting: this is from Fusion directly, "The MS-NRX300 features a sleek new innovation: the glass helm flush mounting option. You can now choose either a flush mount for a stunning glass helm finish, or you can easily install with the conventional dash mount finish." So that would seem to answer your question. However, there is still no reference to mounting it this way in either the manual or the installation manual. I'll keep researching.
[ ALLYSON  Aug 01, 2017 ]

It's definitely designed to sit flush TO THE DASHBOARD (I.e., other than the cylinder in the middle where the wire comes out it has a flat back) but the thing does stick out, panel and of course the volume knob. To make it TRULY flush you would have to recess it somehow.
[ ALLYSON  Jul 30, 2017 ]
A
Yes, it can be flush mounted.

Q
Is this compatible with an MSRA55?
[ Ryan  Jun 08, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
Thanks for the question! However, I'm afraid the Fusion MS-NRX300 is not compatible with their MS-RA55 receiver. If you'd like to discuss other Fusion units that would work with the MS-NRX300 remote control, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000).

Q
Would you mount this so you can access it from your dive platform? I'd like to mount it so that you can control the radio without having to hop on the boat. I have an armstrong bracket on the boat already.

A
I would not mount the main unit close to water. While the face is waterproof, the unit itself has cooling vents. I'd buy the remote and you can mount that down near the water.
[ J Kemp  Jan 26, 2017 ]
A
You could mount it on your dive platform, as I understand the unit is fully waterproof. I would purchase the remote and mount that on the dive platform, leaving the main unit near the helm or in the cabin and away from the engine(s). Being that close might introduce noise into the system.

Q
Will this unit work with the MS-AV700i?
[ Marco  Oct 14, 2016 ]

A
Yes it would. The MS-NRX300 marine wired remote is compatible with a wide variety of Fusion Marine stereos including the MS-AV700i. I hope that helps! My bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
Does this remote work with the MS-UD/AV650?
[ JOHN  Oct 01, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
Yes it does and you can run up to three of them I'm running 2 of them on mine and I'm using that same head unit. But t I had an issue with them wanting to communicate with the head unit at first. It was giving me a message saying "waiting for network check connections". All the connections were correct. I finally held down the menu button and got them to communicate. In my opinion this head unit and remotes are the best in the market. However, I hate the way the remotes hook up. The stereo and remotes both have female connections but the extension cord had a male and female. You have to use 2 t's to connect. The easiest stereo to set up and operate I've ever used.
