iRV iRV34 RV DVD, USB Receiver with HDMI

The iRV34 is a direct fit replacement for the stock radio in many RVs.

HDMI input and output

The HDMI interface on the faceplate gives you a no-hassle one-cable hookup for laptops or gaming consoles, and you'll find audio and video inputs there as well. An HDMI output allows you to send video from the receiver to the TV, as well as get audio back from an ARC compatible TV if you're watching a program. This versatile receiver will play MP3, MP4, and JPG files, as well as streaming audio from your Bluetooth-enabled devices. And you can control it all from your phone with an Apple or Android app.

Ins and outs

The receiver also offers two RCA audio outputs that you can connect to an outboard amplified speaker system. You can set up three different speaker zones so you can distribute the sound throughout your RV — and even send a different signal to the third zone. So while everyone inside is checking out a movie, you can relax to your favorite tunes outside. Control it all with the full-featured wireless remote control.

Plug and play

The iRV 34 is a plug-and-play replacement for the Concertone ZX85, ZX75, ZX50, and ZX25 and Genesis GT2.0 and GT1.0 models often found in RVs — the harness from the old radio plugs right into your new iRV.

I replaced an old Concertone zx75 with this and the wiring was an exact match. I did have to cut out 1" more at the top of my opening for the 34 to fit however, and had to hacksaw some screws. Sound is okay, but 50 watts is only good for so much. This is head and shoulders above the zx75. The equalizer is hard to find, but it is found by pushing the volume knob.

Pros: Wiring Functions

Cons: A bit bigger to fit Equalizer not clearly referenced

This unit came with my new rv. The display on the LCD is garbled. Must be a line of sight for the remote, cant control the unit with the remote unless you stand in front of it. Even then it is slow to respond. I would not select this product. Maybe I got a defective unit.

iRV34 Replacement for Jensen AWM970

Dave from Socorro, NM on 5/24/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Let me start off by saying that the iRV34 is superior in every way to the Jensen AWM970 it replaced. Once installed set-up is a breeze. It is the installation that gave me fits. The iRV34 replaced the dying Jensen AWM 970 in my 2011 Winnebago View/Profile 24G. In making the purchase, I made an assumption that I should not have made - that the changeover would be a relatively straightforward swap. I knew I'd have to rewire the harness. I have soldering skills and carefully mapped out where each wire should be joined to the old connectors - a task that is painstaking, but went off without a hitch. I hadn't paid attention to the dimensions, assuming that these units conformed to the form factors in automotive sound systems. They don't. I discovered too late that I would have to modify the old opening to accommodate the iRV which turns out to be narrower & taller than the Jensen it replaced. If your stomach is strong enough to take saws & drills to your motor home (or whatever) the result can be quite acceptable. If you are doing a new installation, I can recommend this without reservations (but look at the dimensions). ;-)

Pros: Solid, good sounding unit.

Cons: None, unless you are expecting a simple replacement for a Jensen AWM970.

Great sound and picture!

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Haven't had the opportunity to really give it a test run yet.. Just got it installed... wiring harness was a little difficult because original speaker wires were ran in series and this system is ran to each individual speaker. That was a little tough installing and if you're not an electrician, it would be wise to pay a professional to install. But the features offered are great... Can play music outside while watching a movie inside simultaneously on one individual unit; very nice!! Hopefully it will give us years of enjoyment while we camp!

Pros: Great volume and picture. Can use outside speakers to listen to music while children/spouse watches movie inside

Cons: Even being an electrician, a little difficult to install. Pay someone if you don't know what you are doing or you could damage the unit.

Purchased to replace IRV 33

Dwight from Mahwah, NJ on 9/28/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Purchased this system to replace my IRV33 system which stopped functioning in my RV. I have only used this for one weekend RV trip thus far but was very happy with the performance of the system. As it was a replacement for the IRV33, the wiring harnesses were exactly the same so the swap out took less then 5 minutes. The enhanced features of the IRV34 are nice, IE: Independent source and volume on the 3rd zone speakers. Overall very satisfied.

Pros: All wiring harnesses were identical Independent control of volume and source for Zone 3

Cons: Have not experienced any as yet.

I bought the radio a couple months ago for my camper knowing I wouldn't get a chance to use it until the end of September. First, I must start with the dimensions that were listed as they were spot on! The area where I installed the radio had limited on space and this radio fit perfectly. Second, the blue tooth function was important to me and that paired with ease. The layout of the buttons and changing functions was simple. This is a great radio for the purpose!

Good sounding audio / missing remote battery

Kelly from Nampa, ID on 5/18/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I just installed this stereo in my trailer and the install was very easy. I did have to increase the opening by about 5/8" taller to fit this new stereo but that was no big deal. The sound is pretty good considering I am still using the stock speakers. I'll need to see if I can get those replaced sometime. My only issue is that the remote was supposed to come with a battery but it was not there. The plastic tab that you remove to allow the battery to make contact was there but no battery. This is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Pros: Easy to install Good sound

Cons: Missing remote battery

Good rv replacement unit

Bernadine from Coeburn, VA on 9/27/2016

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Just installed the new unit and it appears to be a very adequate replacement for our 2006 fifth wheel. I would like a more detailed operations manual as I am not a techie. It would also be nice to have a clock backlight when the unit is turned off to make the time visible. We have not used the unit only tried the dvd/cd player and radio so there may be later comments.

Pros: Compares well to the old unit.

Cons: Needs a better operations manual and backlight for clock.

Product Research

Features

Disc Player: The iRV34's built-in disc player will support playback of CD-audio and DVD-video discs. It also supports playback of MP3 music files, MP4 video files, and JPEG photo files recorded onto CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, or DVD+R/RW discs. DVD-video will be played back on a connected external monitor (sold separately).

SD Card Slot: The unit's front-panel SD card slot supports playback of MP3 music files, MP4 video files, and JPEG photo files loaded onto a SD or SDHC memory card (up to 32GB). Photos and video will be played back on a connected external monitor (sold separately).

USB Port: The iRV34's front-panel USB (type-A) port supports playback of MP3 music files, MP4 video files, and JPEG photo files stored on a USB mass storage class device, like your USB thumbdrive (up to 1TB). Your USB thumbdrive must be formatted in FAT or FAT32. Photos and video will be played back on a connected external monitor (sold separately). The unit's USB port (5V/0.5A) will also charge many USB-enabled devices.

Bluetooth Music Streaming: Support for Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP lets you wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet (like Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad or Android) to the iRV34. From the iRV34's front-panel controls, you can operate basic playback functions such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, and Fast Forward/Rewind. Advanced music navigation and song/artist information is still done from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device.

Note: This unit does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone communication. This unit may not be compatible with all Bluetooth audio devices.

HDMI Connectivity: The iRV34 features a front and rear panel HDMI 1.4 input for connecting an external AV component, such as a Blu-ray player or game system. The unit's HDMI input audio/video signal is passed through the iRV34's HDMI output and to a connected external video monitor and speakers (sold separately). HDMI audio/video is not played back on the iRV34, itself. The iRV34's HDMI 1.4 output allows you to playback audio/video from the unit's built-in disc player, USB port, SD-card slot, or the front/rear panel HDMI inputs on an external monitor/speaker system (sold separately). The HDMI output also supports ARC (Audio Return Channel); this way audio from your connected TV can be played back through the iRV34.

AV Inputs/Outputs: The unit's front-panel 3.5mm minijack video input and rear-panel composite video input allow you to connect an external video player to the iRV34 and send video out through its composite video outputs to an external video monitor (sold separately). The unit's composite video output allow you to playback video from the iRV34's built-in disc player, USB port, SD-card slot, or front-panel video input on an external monitor (sold separately). The unit's two stereo RCA outputs allow you to playback audio from the iRV34's disc player, USB port, SD-card slot, or front-panel aux input on an external speaker system (sold separately).

Analog & Digital Audio Inputs: The unit is fitted with a front-panel minijack (3.5mm) aux input and a rear panel stereo RCA input. These analog inputs let you easily connect an external audio device that features an audio or headphone output for playback through the iRV34. The unit's rear-panel optical (toslink) digital input can be used to enable digital audio from external AV component with a digital optical output, like a DVD player or TV tuner. The unit's digital input accepts 2ch PCM only.

AM/FM Tuner: The unit's built-in AM/FM tuner provides 3 FM bands and 2 AM bands. Each band can be manually or auto programmed with 8 stations presets; giving you a total of 24 FM presets and 16 AM presets. The unit also offers manual tuning, seek tuning, and preset scan.

3 Speaker Zones: The iRV34 provides 3 stereo speaker zones. 40 watts/4-ohm (peak) of power is distributed between the zones. You can listen to all zones or turn on only one or two of the zones. A different source can be played back in each zone with independent volume control. The iRV34 also provides an amplified speaker-level output for a subwoofer in Zone 1 rated at 40 watts/4-ohm (peak).

Single-Line Display: The iRV34's front-panel, single-line display indicates source selection, station identification, track & elapsed time, volume level, menu settings, and clock. The unit will not display song/artist information. The iRV34 will display a 12-hour clock and offers a Sleep Timer that will turn of the unit for your after a predetermined period of time.

Remote Control: The unit comes with an IR remote for complete wireless operation of the iRV70. In addition, the free iRV app (for Apple iOS and Android OS) can be used to control the iRV70 from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device.

Installation: The iRV34 mounts in your recreational vehicle with six screws (not included) that secure the unit to the dash. Two plastic endcaps are included to hide the screw-holes for a clean looking installation. Color-coded power and speaker harnesses are included to hardwire the iRV34 in your recreational vehicle.

The iRV34 isn't SiriusXM capable so, you would need to use a "dock & play" tuner (which provides it's own display & controls for the service), and connect it to the stereo's auxiliary audio input: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_250150/Dock-and-Play-Satellite-Radios.html?tp=85

If connecting an external HDMI source like a Playstation, PC, Mac, or Blu-ray to the front HDMI of the iRV34, is this input's audio heard from the iRV34's audio outputs, or is only passed thru to the HDMI output to the TV?

It does not pull the audio to play itself; it passes it through to the unit's HDMI output for an externally connected monitor and speaker system (I.E. a TV or a TV with some type of powered speaker system). This model does not offer an equalizer. You can view the owner's manual by clicking the "Details" tab on the product's main webpage. You'll find the link for the manual under the "What's in the Box?" heading. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5
