iRV iRV66 RV DVD, USB Receiver with HDMI

This multi-function remote gives your passengers total control over the entertainment action.

RVs pose particular challenges for audio installations. Their interior space is much larger than a car or truck, and this makes it difficult to get sound to every corner of the vehicle. iRV designed their iRV66 DVD receiver to meet these challenges and provide a fully featured entertainment system for your RV. This versatile receiver features an AM/FM tuner and a CD/DVD drive, along with an SD card slot and a USB port that'll handle all your non-disc entertainment.

The faceplate also features an HDMI port that's great as a gaming and laptop interface, plus a minijack A/V input and two rear HDMI ports for other audio and video sources. You can control the digital 5.1 surround sound through on app on your iOS or Android device. And to top it off, you can stream audio from your Bluetooth devices.

Three listening zones

The iRV66 features 200 watts of total peak power sent to three different speaker zones, so you can set up three different listening areas in your RV. You also get three HDMI outputs, two RCA outputs, and two audio inputs for setting up outboard video screens, along with two speaker-level sub outputs for controlling those all-important low notes. And iRV includes a full-featured wireless remote control so your passengers can run the show.

The combination of this iRV66 receiver and the iRV66-ACWH wiring harness is a plug-and-play replacement for the Concertone ZX800, ZX700, ZX690 and Genesis Technologies GT3.0 receivers often found in RVs.

If you're looking for a serious entertainment center to accompany you on your travels, you just found it.

Great Unit

Great piece of equipment. Works as advertised and truly is "plug and play". The Genesis 3.0 provides you with a plethora of wires for various audio and video connections that are taken care of with the "plugs" via the power adapter. I did not have to use the available RCAs for anything. If I have one complaint it is that the wiring diagram needs to be more detailed and there needs to be a terms list for the various buttons. I have a FM input for the Genesis that I did not know went into the "hole" at the bottom of the unit until I called Crutchfield tech. Also, it took a page or two to figure out what "BT" stood for. These are just little things that could be easily solved with more detail in the manual.

Pros: Easy install; true plug and play; great sound and picture.

Cons: Manual could be more detailed, especially wiring.

This is a replacement for a Concertone unit that was a real piece of $@#!. had to use the remote to do anything as the buttons on the unit didn't work correctly. It was actually a replacement for the 1st Concertone unit that failed in the first month. The sound is good, but will be better when I install the 6 1/2" kicker speakers to replace the old ones. It was nice to find a direct replacement so I didn't have to customize a panel. Took me 10 minutes to wire it up and start cranking!

Pros: Easy Install

Cons: None yet

Easy to install with optional cable. For the price it probably should have had bluray, it is 2017! An additional audio input for my XM would have been nice too. Lights are really bright at night. Sound is OK. 3 sets of speakers and different sound levels for each of them, may be the speaker set up and not the iRV66, I'll never know. Delivered quickly.

Pros: Easy install IF you order the OPTIONAL cable.

Cons: No bluray

I'm sure the unit is great. But since Crutchfield neglected to inform me I needed an adapter to complete the installation and the adapter is back ordered for over a month. I gotta say boo hoo Crutchfield ??

Pros: None yet

Cons: Back ordered adapter with no delivery date

Crutchfield response on 6/15/2017
Sorry for the frustration, Gary. We're reviewing our copy that describes the use of the wiring harness adapter with this receiver. Once we received this adapter from our vendor, it immediately shipped out to Gary. One of our Customer Service Specialists, Marie, also notified him of that fact.

My 5th wheel came with the concert sound system with 3 speaker zones including surround sound system, and it failed about our 3rd trip, had it repaired and it lasted 2 more trips, and it died. Replaced it with the IRV66 which is the replacement for the concertone so basically it was plug and play, and what a improvement, this unit sounds so much better especially the surround sound not to mention the blue tooth connection for cell phone operation for all controls. We play our music from our iphone through this system it's great. Another thing connecting the tv to this system with hdmi is a snap and watching movies is exceptional. We love it.

Pros: Easy installation, easy operation, sounds exceptionally good. It can be used with the tv or you have the option to use the tv speakers.

Cons: None

We purchased a Rockwood Ultra Lite 5th wheel with one of these installed. It never worked correctly and the dealer wouldn't fix it. We couldn't contact the iRV company directly and thought we were just stuck with a useless product. Found Crutchfield's web site and took a leap of faith that their version of the product worked. I received the product in two days and installed it immediately. It works to perfection. Anyone who owns one of these that has had problems and the dealer won't or can't fix it should bite the bullet and purchase from Crutchfied.

The iRV66 was a replacement for the original ZX700 that came installed in our Sabre 5th wheel. The iRV66 was shipped quickly, package adequately, and arrived in good condition. As confirmed by Crutchfield technician, the iRV66 did fit in the cutout the old unit fit in with even the screw holes being aligned so mounting was no problem. The iRV66 is much easier to use than the ZX700 and appears to be of high quality. I say this because I have not used it extensively at this time (other than a function check of all the settings and operations) but I will update my review if/when necessary. Because the ZX700 had different wire connection clip plugs, I needed the RV66-ACWH adapter harness for the iRV66 which then made this a truly "plug and play" replacement. This harness is not included when ordering the iRV66 so confirm if the harness is required for your specific needs. I am very satisfied with the excellent technical help I received while trying to find this as a replacement and would recommend Crutchfield for future electronic needs.

Pros: Quick shipment, good quality, easy installation.

Cons: None at this time.

Product Research

Features

Disc Player: The iRV66's built-in disc player will support playback of CD-audio and DVD-video discs. It also supports playback of MP3 music files, MP4 video files, and JPEG photo files recorded onto CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, or DVD+R/RW discs. DVD-video will be played back on a connected external monitor (sold separately).

SD Card Slot: The unit's front-panel SD card slot supports playback of MP3 music files, MP4 video files, and JPEG photo files loaded onto a SD or SDHC memory card (up to 32GB). Photos and video will be played back on a connected external monitor (sold separately).

USB Port: The iRV66's front-panel USB (type-A) port supports playback of MP3 music files, MP4 video files, and JPEG photo files stored on a USB mass storage class device, like your USB thumbdrive (up to 1TB). Your USB thumbdrive must be formatted in FAT or FAT32. Photos and video will be played back on a connected external monitor (sold separately). The unit's USB port (5V/0.5A) will also charge many USB-enabled devices.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The unit features built-in Bluetooth (v2.0), so you can wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet (like Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad or Android) to the iRV66. From the iRV66's front-panel controls, you can operate basic playback functions such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, and Fast Forward/Rewind. Advanced music navigation and song/artist information is still done from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device.

Note: This unit does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone communication. This unit may not be compatible with all Bluetooth audio devices.

HDMI Connectivity: The iRV66 features a front and two rear panel HDMI 1.3 inputs for connecting external AV components, such as a Blu-ray player or gaming console. The unit's HDMI input audio/video signal is passed through the iRV66's HDMI output and to a connected external video monitor and speakers (sold separately). HDMI audio/video is not played back on the iRV66, itself. The iRV66's three HDMI 1.3 output allow you to playback audio/video from the unit's built-in disc player, USB port, SD-card slot, or the front/rear panel HDMI inputs on external monitor/speaker systems (sold separately). The HDMI 3 output also supports ARC (Audio Return Channel); this way audio from your connected TV can be played back through the iRV66.

Analog Video Inputs/Outputs: The unit's front-panel 3.5mm minijack video input and rear-panel composite video input allow you to connect an external video player to the iRV66 and send video out through its composite video outputs to an external video monitor (sold separately). The unit's two composite video outputs allow you to playback video from the iRV66's built-in disc player, USB port, SD-card slot, or front-panel video input on an external monitor (sold separately).

Analog & Digital Audio Inputs: The unit is fitted with a front-panel minijack (3.5mm) aux input and a rear panel stereo RCA input. These analog inputs let you easily connect an external audio device that features an audio or headphone output for playback through the iRV66. The unit's rear-panel optical (toslink) and coaxial (RCA) digital inputs can be used to enable digital audio from external AV components with a digital output, like a DVD player or TV tuner. The digital inputs will accept 2ch PCM and 5.1ch Dolby Digital.

AM/FM Tuner: The unit's built-in AM/FM tuner provides 3 FM bands and 2 AM bands. Each band can be manually or auto programmed with 8 stations presets; giving you a total of 24 FM presets and 16 AM presets. The unit also offers manual tuning, seek tuning, and preset scan.

3 Speaker Zones: The iRV33 provides 3 speaker zones. 200 watts (peak) of power is distributed between the zones. Zone 1 consists of  a 5.1ch speaker system, while Zone 2 and 3 consist of 2ch speaker outputs. You can listen to all zones or turn on only one or two of the zones. The same source will be played back in each zone and the volume level is the same for each zone. The iRV66 also provides amplified speaker-level outputs for dual subwoofers in Zone 1.

Single-Line Display: The iRV66's front-panel, single-line display indicates source selection, station identification, track & elapsed time, volume level, menu settings, and clock. The unit will not display song/artist information. The iRV66 will display a 12-hour clock and offers a Sleep Timer that will turn of the unit for your after a predetermined period of time.

Remote Control: The unit comes with an IR remote for complete wireless operation of the iRV70. In addition, the free iRV app (for Apple iOS and Android OS) can be used to control the iRV70 from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device.

Installation: The iRV66 mounts in your recreational vehicle with ten screws (not included) that secure the unit to the dash. A trim-ring is included to hide the screw-holes for a clean looking installation. Color-coded power, speaker, and zone harnesses are included to hardwire the iRV66 in your recreational vehicle.

  • Front-Panel Dimensions: 8.155" (w) x 10.905" (h) x 1.625" (d)
  • Chassis Dimensions: 6.675" (w) x 9.465" (h) x 5.0625" (d)

Note: The iRV66-ACWH has been specifically designed as a replacement the Concertone ZX800, ZX700, ZX690 or Genesis Technologies GT3.0. Purchase the iRV66-ACWH wiring harness (932RVACWH, sold separately) if you are replacing a Concertone ZX800, ZX700, ZX690 or Genesis Technologies GT3.0 radio for a plug-&-play installation.

he only replacements I could find for the crappy, broken for 5 years, ZX700 were: another ZX700, a mongrel brand on ebay recommended by a few people on an old forest river thread and this one. too scared to buy the others. hope this one works out better in our rv than the zx. Q
Is there an adapter wiring harness to replace a Concrrtone rv2003 and if not, since my rv has only 6 speakers and 2 subwoofers will not using the extra speaker terminals hurt anything?
[ Greg  Jun 02, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
There are not adapting harnesses made to help with the wiring which means you will have to splice in the new one. It will not hurt anything if you don't use all the speaker outputs. Just cover the wiring for them and all will be well My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul

No
[ Richard   Feb 03, 2018 ]
A
We no longer own the RV this was installed in so I can't confirm if there was battery backup but it was wired through the inverter. I'm not sure if power was available through inverted battery power because we never used the iRV66 receiver without external power.
[ Richard E.  Feb 03, 2018 ]
A
No it doesn't if full power is disconnected.
[ Jim  Feb 03, 2018 ]
A
It's a 12 volt unit with no battery backup
[ Brian  Feb 02, 2018 ]
A
Not internally. It might be possible to connect it to a system with a battery backup.
[ Brian  Feb 02, 2018 ]

I believe the stations you program into memory will be saved when the power is off. Not sure if the last input selected will come up when you turn it on or not. It is in my Father-in-law's RV. If I remember, I'll try those things next time I am with him.

No it does not play blue ray dvd's
[ Kenyon  May 26, 2017 ]
A
I bought the IRV66 to replace the original unit installed by the 5th wheel manufacturer and have since traded it for a new RV. Other than post install check out of the IRV66 in which I used a standard DVD I never tried Blue Ray disks. My suggestion is to contact the Crutchfield Techs and verify but I really don't think it does play Blue Ray. My new 2017 5th wheel is equipped with Furrion and it doesn't accept Blue Ray. If this is a none starter for you, check out if you can adapt a stand alone Blue ray player to the IRV66. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
