Remote start your vehicle — precool in summer, preheat in winter

The EVO-CHR.T5 system includes a digital interface module, which bypasses your vehicle's immobilizer circuits so you can start it without a key, and a T-harness that'll connect the module to your specific vehicle. In addition to the Chrysler harness, the module comes pre-programmed for your vehicle right out of the box.

Remote start your vehicle — precool in summer, preheat in winter

Choosing the right remote start system and installing it in your vehicle has become a lot simpler and more affordable with this all-in-one Fortin EVO-Series package.

Vehicle-specific harness simplifies the installation

While not quite plug-and-play, the harness connections cut down installation time considerably, so you do-it-yourselfers out there can save a little money. Fortin includes a code on the package that you use on their website to download and print detailed, illustrated instructions for your installation. In addition, Crutchfield offers free lifetime tech support, via our toll-free telephone number, to help ensure your remote start installation goes smoothly.

Use your factory remote

You start your vehicle by pressing the lock button on your factory key three times. This system lets you start your car from as far away as the key will lock and unlock your doors. Note: This feature works on most vehicles, but in certain select vehicles, the factory key won't work with this remote start system and an RF kit will be required for installation. Please contact us for more details.

Optional RF remotes increase the range

If you want to be able to start your car from inside your home or office, for instance, you can extend your range by simply plugging in one of these RF remote kits to the interface module.

Fortin RF641W 1-way, 4-button RF remote kit, 1500-foot range ($80)

Fortin RF642W 2-way, 4-button RF remote kit, 2500-foot range ($120)

Each RF kit contains two remote controls, an antenna module, and harness. Both kits let you remotely lock and unlock the doors, pop open the trunk, and perform other functions in addition to starting your engine.

Integrates with your factory security system too

The EVO-CHR.T5 also gives you control over your vehicle's factory security system's basic functions like horn-honking, light-flashing, and door-locking, giving you a little peace of mind when you get into your running car.

IMPORTANT:
Customers who want to configure Run Time or adjust advanced features will need to purchase a Fortin FLU-100.2 Flash Link Updater.

If you know how to use a multimeter and have experience working with your vehicle's electrical system, you should be able to install this remote start system yourself. If not, please consider having your system professionally installed.

To ensure vehicle compatibility, please enter your vehicle information. Your order will be reviewed by our Car Experts group, who will contact you if further information or recommended accessories are needed.

not a great system

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I bought this for my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel. The instructions were vague. Contacted both Crutchfield and Fortin customer service. Fortin was unhelpful! During the calls, one adviser said use Diagram F, called back then they said "use C". I gave up and called Crutchfield Tech support. While they were WAY more helpful and knowledgeable about the product. The techs were still a bit puzzled, and would call me back. This never happened. And finally to finish things off.... IT never would sync. I ended up removing it, and go a different route.

Pros: looks simple.

Cons: too many different wiring diagrams, updating firmware can be tricky, the latest version isn't always the right one. Customer service lacking.

After installed, the device works great! The instructions are a little vague but thanks to Crutchfields excellent customer service, I was able to get it installed and functioning properly. The first tech I spoke with actually was confused as well. I would highly recommend you read over the instructions and then call Crutchfield to make sure you have the correct wires going to the correct location. I would have gave this a 5-star review if the instructions would have been more clear.

Pros: Works great with factory remote

Cons: Instructions are very vague and not 100% accurate.

Almost plug and play! Installed on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. Only a couple of wire connections to get it going. Crutchfield tech support told me I would need to order a relay if I wanted the parking lights to work. Pretty easy install. My only warning is when you activate your WireColor.com account, you only have 48 hours to view the information.

Pros: Easy installation.

The products carried by Crutchfield are always top notch, but that's not the remarkable part. The sales people and techs couldn't be more friendly and helpful. It's always a great experience and they're always available to walk you through an install. That's why I keep coming back.

Pros: Easy to install and dependable product.

Cons: Instructions are not clearly written. More time is needed to decipher them.

Super easy auto start installation

Paul from Fowlerville, MI on 12/18/2017

2007 Dodge Ram 1500

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

After realizing my vehicle had a different wiring then a typical 2007 Dodge Ram, the installation actually became very easy. I only had to attached two wires to the unit harness itself and it became a "plug and play" unit. Works perfect and after some confusion on my part (which tech support helped me clear up) the installation turned out to be a super quick & easy installation.

Pros: Just had to attach two wires within the unit harness and it became plug and play. Crutchfield directions were much better to understand and use than the manufacturers. Works as stated and uses the factory fob without additional parts or purchases. Well worth the money!

Cons: Manufacturers instructions conflicted with Crutchfields and I had to call tech support to better understand.

I installed this on my 2015 JK and it was almost 100% plug and play. The instructions for this product are confusing, but I LOVE the product itself. Works like a charm and when I hit a snag on install, all I did was call crutchfield and they hooked me up with the information I needed. Very happy customer!

Pros: Low cost, great crutchfield customer support.

Cons: None at this price except the confusing instructions.

Research to verify it works on your car

Cullen from Spanaway, WA on 9/13/2017

2016 Fiat 500X

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I have a lot of experience installing and upgrading engine control systems professionally and I cannot recommend purchasing this kit unless you know that it has been successfully used on your exact application. I bought this for a 2013 Chrysler 200 Touring with the 4 cylinder engine with a "tip" start ignition. The ignition switch is a key mounted on the dash in place of the push to start button on some models and is not addressed in the installation instructions. The kit itself seems to be well made, with a very nice wiring harness. Installing the harness took several hours requiring removal of the lower dash, instrument cluster trim, and stereo in order to access the ignition switch plug. Once installed, the pre-programmed settings would not work as the car would not start at all. After calling Fortin for assistance, they provided a new program which also did not work (car would not shut off until module was unplugged). After a few more attempts I ended up removing and returning the unit entirely.

Awesome product. Paper directions are a little unclear. Make sure you hook up the correct wires from the t-harness and the 20 pin connector for your particular vehicle. 2011 Liberty requires the yellow to yellow and the purple to green/red. Youtube videos don't always show this step. I also purchased the RF642W which work very well and a way better distance then the factory remotes.

Great product. Relativley easy install once you figure out the directions. I would suggest using plastic splicers if you have to tap into any wires on the factory harness. I also have to thank crutchfield for calling me about this order to remind me I may need to purchase an in-line fuse for installation in my Jeep.

Pros: Affordable. Can use factory key FOB but can also choose a few options on compatable remotes.

Cons: The instructions are more complicated than they have to be.

Installed a fortin Evo All in my wife 08 Sebring. Very easy plug and play install. Works great as a stand alone remote starter.

Pros: Preprogrammed Plug and play Only two wires that needed soldered

Cons: Running lights wire shows hooking a positive to a negative that would cause a short. Did not connect them. Still need to contact to ask about that issue. A lot of extra wires for a custom harness for stand alone use.

As a 20+ year veteran working for auto manufacturers, I have a true appreciation for OEM quality and well engineered products. This product design and installation is something that I have been calling for for a couple of years now. It is a true plug and play integration that interfaces extremely well with the vehicle. My only criticism is the clarity of directions. Although if you rush through the directions (guilty) the tech support will tell your to connect the 2 wires in the harness together and you will be done in under 20 min in spite of yourself. Nice job Fortin!

Pros: Well designed and integrated

Cons: Read you directions

This was the best investment I could possibly make for my car. Plug and play to the vehicle and 2 connections between the Fortin harness. The hardest part of installing was plugging into the car, Chrysler didn't make access easy and there are some sharp points under the dash where you have to contort your arm to get to the plug. An hour of pain for years of comfort... I'll take it!

Pros: Plug n play remote start. Very affordable.

Features

Overview: The Fortin EVO-CHR.T5 is a combo package containing the EVO-ALL, an all-in-one data immobilizer bypass, door lock, alarm, and remote start interface module, along with the THAR-CHR.T5 T-Harness for select Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. The EVO-ALL and T-harness are designed to greatly shorten the installation time of the remote start/security system in those vehicles by making many of the connections via direct plug-in harnesses.

Note: This is a complex product, and it is recommended that installation is performed by a professional installer or experienced do-it-yourselfer.

Compatibility: The EVO-CHR.T5 is currently compatible with some 104 vehicles, including select 2004-14 Chrysler 200, 300, Aspen, Crossfire, PT Cruiser, and Sebring; 2004-14 Dodge Avenger, Caliber, Charger, Dakota, Durango, Magnum, Nitro, and RAM; and 2005-17 Jeep Commander, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Patriot, and Wrangler. Click here to see if your vehicle is compatible.

User Interface: The EVO-CHR.T5 offers three different ways to start the vehicle or control the built-in alarm system:

  • Using the OEM remote
  • Working with compatible long-range RF remote kits, such as the RF641W or RF642W.
  • Through compatible smartphone modules (such as Compustar Drone and others).

Included Harnesses: The EVO-CHR.T5 includes a pre-wired harness with multiple plugs on each end that connect to the EVO-ALL module and the vehicle's OEM wiring. An activation key to WireColor.com is included for a free vehicle wire color diagram.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
If my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport (2 door) is not already equipped with remote start therefor not having a key fob with the option to remote the vehicle will the remote start kit work with my factory keys somehow?

A
This system would still work if there is an application for your vehicle. You would just need to add remotes.

This kit works with existing keyless entry. If your vehicle is equipped with factory keyless entry, and meets the requirements for the kit, I would assume it will work. If you have concerns, contact crutchfields advisors by chat or phone, and they can help you further.

No you do not have to flash the unit. It comes ready to go as a stand alone remote start. It starts and runs for 10-15 minutes then shuts off automatically.

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.
