The EVO-NIST1 system includes a digital interface module, which bypasses your vehicle's immobilizer circuits so you can start it without a key, and a T-harness that'll connect the module to your specific vehicle. In addition to the Nissan harness, the module comes pre-programmed for your vehicle right out of the box.

Remote start your vehicle — precool in summer, preheat in winter

Choosing the right remote start system and installing it in your vehicle has become a lot simpler and more affordable with this all-in-one Fortin EVO-Series package.

Vehicle-specific harness simplifies the installation

While not quite plug-and-play, the harness connections cut down installation time considerably, so you do-it-yourselfers out there can save a little money. Fortin includes a code on the package that you use on their website to download and print detailed, illustrated instructions for your installation. In addition, Crutchfield offers free lifetime tech support, via our toll-free telephone number, to help ensure your remote start installation goes smoothly.

Use your factory remote

You start your vehicle by pressing the lock button on your factory key three times. This system lets you start your car from as far away as the key will lock and unlock your doors. Note: This feature works on most vehicles, but in certain select vehicles, the factory key won't work with this remote start system and an RF kit will be required for installation. Please contact us for more details.

Optional RF remotes increase the range

If you want to be able to start your car from inside your home or office, for instance, you can extend your range by simply plugging in one of these RF remote kits to the interface module.

Fortin RF641W 1-way, 4-button RF remote kit, 1500-foot range ($80)

Fortin RF642W 2-way, 4-button RF remote kit, 2500-foot range ($120)

Each RF kit contains two remote controls, an antenna module, and harness. Both kits let you remotely lock and unlock the doors, pop open the trunk, and perform other functions in addition to starting your engine.

Integrates with your factory security system too

The EVO-NIST1 also gives you control over your vehicle's factory security system's basic functions like horn-honking, light-flashing, and door-locking, giving you a little peace of mind when you get into your running car.

IMPORTANT:
Customers who want to configure Run Time or adjust advanced features will need to purchase a Fortin FLU-100.2 Flash Link Updater.

If you know how to use a multimeter and have experience working with your vehicle's electrical system, you should be able to install this remote start system yourself. If not, please consider having your system professionally installed.

To ensure vehicle compatibility, please enter your vehicle information. Your order will be reviewed by our Car Experts group, who will contact you if further information or recommended accessories are needed.

Crutchfield is awesome. Purchased a similar unit off the web and it didn't work. Got this one from Crutchfield and installed in no time. Programmed first time (unlike the other box). Customer service is second to none.

Pros: Works exactly as advertised. Very satisfied.

Cons: No output for horn to sound when you lock / start the car with the aftermarket remote. Two way remote would have helped.

Love my Evo-All standalone remote start, instructions are somewhat easy but ran into a little trouble with programming the unit but called Fortin's tech support and they walked me through it as if they were right there with me installing the remote start on my 2007 Nissan Altima

Once installed it's great. Good for a novice. This was my first install of this kind.

Pros: Crutchfield helped me out with the instructions. Great customer service

Cons: No instructions included. Was able to download then through their website though. They weren't real clear so I had to call crutchfiel customer service.

Works, install isn't terrible

Brett from Oshkosh, WI on 12/10/2017

2010 Nissan Maxima

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installation wasn't bad after I gave up on trying to connect the locks and door pin wires to the body control module. Turns out the system works without them but the auto shutdown doesn't work. If I add the RF kit it won't be able to unlock/lock the doors. Other then my blinking TPMS light since the install this went pretty well. Range isn't great with the factory remotes but adding the RF kit appears to be pretty easy.

Pros: Remote start No extra remote

Cons: Connecting all of the wires is nearly impossible with the location of the BCM

Not an easy install on an Altima

Christopher from Watertown, NY on 12/2/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Not a novice DIY project for a '12 Nissan Altima. One of the wires requires you to pull out the instrument cluster and place a pin in a connector. Unless you have hands the size of an infant this is no easy task. Would highly recommend doing professional install for this car, even for the experienced. Save yourself some headache. The rest of the install took less than 5 minutes. The product itself is compact and easily fits hidden away. I've used it for over a year now consistently and never had any issues.

Pros: - Consistent; used for over a year with no fails - Compact size makes it easy to find a hiding spot

Cons: - Requires instrument cluster to be removed for '12 Nissan Altima

As good as a factory installation

2011 Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

We have a 2011 Nissan Murano, Cross Cabriolet. We bought This Fortin remote starter and also the installer services card. The installer stated " A great product that is easy to install" and was a pro. We can vouch that since it was installed, it has worked flawlessly. Nice that it uses the factory fob to start it remotely, no extra fob to carry. The fortin calmed my fears about someone potentially causing issues with the car's wiring. Designed to plug right in.

Relatively easy installation for a novice. The updated add on is essential and brilliant. Does exactly as advertised! Very very happy with my purchase and with Crutchfields support. Phone calls to confirm fitment, follow-up emails...5 stars for Crutchfield as well. Looking to buy a new head unit soon as well....Will only buy from Crutchfield from now on.

Pros: Works with OE key fob Easy installation

Cons: Instructions... Specifically wiring diagrams could be a little clearer

Product itself so far works great once installed on Nissan Juke. Instructions were horrible and Fortin tech support wasn't any better; thankfully, Crutchfield tech support was AWESOME!!! Something was wrong with the first bypass unit and/or flashlink updater and would not update the firmware, so Crutchfield sent me an entirely new unit fully updated by Crutchfield staff. New unit worked as it should a big thanks goes out to Brent for being quick to reply to all my questions/problems.

Very slick product

Joe from Helena, MT on 1/12/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Bought two of these , one for my girlfriend and one for my boss's wife. Install the boss's first ,very easy install with the t-harness. My girlfriend's gave me a little trouble , the first connector you attach for programing would only make contact if you held pressure on the connector turns out the module had a problem internally. I called Crutchfield explained the problem and Susan sent a replacement out no questions asked , it arrived earlier than expected and worked great

Pros: easy install with t-harness , nice pictures of wire connectors and locations for wires that need to be hard wired

Cons: Fortin needs better explanations of which install diagram to be used. Also voltage at push to start was 7.5v normally and 0v with button pushed , guide says 12v and 0v with button pushed , not a big deal but still makes you question if you're on the correct wire.

I installed this on a 2010 Maxima. I do have a little knowledge of auto wiring though. Basically just from hooking up stereos when I was younger so nothing extensive. That being said I installed this Fortin Evo on my car in less than 2 hours. It worked perfect and no extra parts were needed. THe only thing extra I needed was the T connectors but those are not needed if you strip and twist the 3 wires (2 if you don't have auto head lights). Works PERFECT and I love that I can use the factory key fob!

Simply Awesome

Tim N. from King of Prussia, pa on 1/4/2016

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This product was easier to put in then advertised. When they say plug and play that's exactly what it is. I'm no car guru I just know the normal maintenance repairs and checks. When it comes to anything electrical I usually stay away. This was a breeze to install and works as advertised. I have to give the Crutchfield support team credit. I had another remote system picked out and they said this was easier and less expensive. I saved money and didn't have a nightmare like I thought thanks to them. I'm looking to get speakers for my truck in the very near future and will not look anywhere but Crutchfield.

Pros: Ease of installation, price compared to other systems, was able to use factory key FOB.

Cons: Instructions could have a little easier to understand

T-Harness is great, not standalone for 07-08 Altima

Jay from NewHampshire on 12/1/2015

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Great for standalone quick installs, 2007 - 2008 Altima still needs a Data-link Remote starter added on to this unit. It will not work standalone unless it's a 2009+ Model Nissan Altima not sure on other Nissan model.s

Pros: T-Harness makes it much easier. Great for 2009+ models.

Cons: T-harness lock on one connector that wasn't great so I taped to keep it from coming off. Altima and Maxima are a pain with the BCM being behind the cluster. you still need to tap 3 wires on the BCM, 1 on Push button and 1 for parking lights.

Overview: The Fortin EVO-NIST1 is a combo package containing the EVO-ALL, an all-in-one data immobilizer bypass, door lock, alarm, and remote start interface module, along with the THAR-NIS1 T-Harness for select Infiniti and Nissan vehicles. Note: This is a complex product, and it is recommended that installation is performed by a professional installer or experienced do-it-yourselfer.

Compatibility: The EVO-NIST1 is currently compatible with some 143 vehicles, including select 2007-17 Infiniti EX35, EX37, FX35, FX37, FX45, FX50, G25, G35, G37, M35H, M37, M56, Q40, Q60, Q70, Q70L, QX50, QX56, QX70, QX80; plus 2007-17 Nissan 350Z, 370Z, Altima, Armada, Cube, GT-R, Juke, Maxima, Murano, Quest, Sentra, Tiida (Euro), Versa, and Versa Note vehicles. Click here to see if your vehicle is compatible.

User Interface: The EVO-NIST1 offers three different ways to start the vehicle or control the built-in alarm system:

  • Using the OEM remote
  • Working with compatible long-range RF remote kits, such as the RF641W or RF642W.
  • Through compatible smartphone modules (such as Compustar Drone and others).

Included Harnesses: The EVO-NIST1 includes a pre-wired harness with multiple plugs on each end that connect to the EVO-ALL module and the vehicle's OEM wiring. An activation key to WireColor.com is included for a free vehicle wire color diagram.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

This allows you start your vehicle by pressing the lock button on your factory key three times. So the range is as far away as your factory key will lock and unlock your doors. You can also extend the range by simply plugging in one of these RF remote kits to the interface module: 1-way, 4-button RF remote kit, 1500-foot range ($80)-- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_938RF641W/Fortin-RF641W.html?tp=34908&s=0 2-way, 4-button RF remote kit, 2500-foot range ($120)-- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_938RF642W/Fortin-RF642W.html?tp=34908&s=0
