NETGEAR AC1200 Wi-Fi® Range Extender
So easy to set up and it has enhanced the Wi-Fi signal to the maximum.
From Netgear: Get Complete Home Wireless Internet Coverage with WiFi Range Extenders
Even when you've upgraded to a super-fast router, you may find that certain areas of the house aren't getting the full benefit of your investment. The NETGEAR EX6150/AC1200 can pick up weak and intermittent signals at the edge of a router's range and amplify them, so dead zones are filled with super-fast 1200 Mbps wireless signal. The module plugs into a standard wall socket, so it can be located in a home office, child's bedroom, or anywhere else your network struggles to reach.

So easy to set up and it has enhanced the Wi-Fi signal to the maximum.
I've had the Extender operating for 2 weeks. The set-up was easy and straight forward. The Netgear WiFi Analytics app available from your app store provided great insight into the strength & speed of my available networks in different parts of my home. Number of available networks is now doubled with the extender (2.4 & 5 from my router & 2.4Ext & 5Ext from the extender . Great versatility and improved service in my home.
Didn't know what to purchase to get Wi-Fi on our back deck, far from our Verizon router. Crutchfield made this recommendation, and it has worked perfectly, easy to do. The wife saw it some cheaper on a Black Friday ad, but I told her I was happy to buy from Crutchfield, rewarding them for their expert advice, and service if needed. Completely satisfied, got a good feeling from this transaction. How often does that happen? Oh, free shipping also :) C
Pros: Fills my needs and works the first time.
It works!! Easy to set up and works well. Needed to try it in a couple locations to boost my reception in my backyard. Very pleased with the product but also want to note I like to buy from Crutchfield because of their lifetime support - have used it several times for other products. BTW - didn't need their support to get this device working.
We have att U-verse in a large 2 story house (4500sf) and only received a spotty signal upstairs, if any signal at all. The router is located downstairs and I wanted something inexpensive due to relocating it in a few months. The net gear was a perfect solution for its price point. Amazing! Highly recommend and installing was extremely easy! And for the people who wish to sleep with WiFi off, simply unplug it from the wall and plug it back in the next morning.
Pros: Device works as stated great value quick and easy set-up
Cons: None yet
works great outstanding range
Pros: range and ease of set up
Worked very well with my Apple router. Excellent product
Pros: Easy setup
Easy to setup, and definitely improves the range of your wireless signal. Highly recommend.
Easy to install
Pros: Easy to install just plugs in
Super easy set-up and works great. We have 5 acres and we can now pick-up a connection on any area of the property.
Pros: Easy set-up Powerful Great Pice
The wifi extender works as expected, but I had a difficult time setting up the unit. I was able to set up the 2 GHz band easily, but I had a harder time setting up the 5 GHz band. It was frustrating and time consuming. I subtract two stars for this reason alone.
Pros: Extends wifi signal
Cons: 5 GHz band difficult to set up
This product is excellent.
Pros: Easy set up..Works as advertised
My situation: Apple modem in my office on one side of the house, limited (one bar) wifi signal in my living room through several walls, Windows and doors but only approx. 100 ft from the modem. After unsuccessfully trying several other wifi extenders, including one which was marketed at 10,000 ft (tech call advised equates to up to 75 feet in each direction - product returned), I was referred to Netgear products as "the best" by friends and as a last resort, purchased this particular extender. Easy to set up, I placed it 3/4 of the way to the living room, so 75 feet from the modem location and up to 25 feet from my iPad on the living room sofa. Full signal on both 2G and 5G!! Extremely happy with the purchase and if like me, you are discouraged in having fast internet via wifi in dead spots of your home, try this product.
Pros: Easy set up; no wires or CD to load Full wifi signal in the prior dead spots (much more effective than several other manufacturers extenders) Small and fairly compact
I installed this as a hardwired access point, tied directly to my router via the RJ45 jack. Setup was simple, and the dead spot at the end of my house now has stronger signal than most of the area around my wireless router. No problems with connectivity.
Pros: Easy to install, directions adequate, performance excellent
Cons: Not really a "con", just something to be aware of - form factor is a little odd, had to fiddle a bit to squeeze in with my other power & data cords in the mixed data/power receptacle. My receptacles have the ground lug on top, but fortunately the antennae rotate pretty much any way but loose - it's technically installed upside down, but I still managed to get the antennae oriented vertically for optimum signal.
Great product - easy to set up, works perfectly!
Pros: Easy to follow directions, expanded our wi-fi coverage where we needed it, no problems
WiFi Range Extender: The NETGEAR AC1200 WiFi Range Extender (EX6150) boosts your existing WiFi network by increasing its range and speed. It works with any standard WiFi router to deliver AC1200 dual band WiFi with up to 1200 Mbps. The AC1200 WiFi Range Extender delivers fast WiFi speed and connectivity for smartphones, tablets, laptops, computers, and more. A Gigabit Ethernet port provides WiFi connectivity to a wired device like Blu-ray players, game consoles, smart TVs or streaming players over your existing WiFi network.
Applications: Add this WiFi Range Extender to strengthen the WiFi connection in a dead zone of your home or office. Or, boost a hotel's WiFi or connect to a wired Internet connection to create your own AC1200 WiFi hotspot. With the AC1200 WiFi Range Extender you can improve your mobile WiFi speeds by up to 100%. Even, use the WiFi Range Extender as a network bridge for a local LAN device.
802.11ac: The extender supports the 802.11ac networking standard. This new standard offers better speed, improved reliability, and more range than older WiFi networking standards. The extender is also backward compatible with earlier WiFi a/b/g/n standards. However, to get the benefits of 802.11ac, your WiFi router must support the 802.11ac WiFi networking standard. In comparison, the latest 802.11ac WiFi standard is 3x faster than the older 802.11n WiFi standard.
FastLane Technology: FastLane technology improves performance using both WiFi bands. Get the most out of your HD entertainment with FastLane technology. With FastLane technology, the extender connects to your router using one band and connects to your devices using another band. Because a band is dedicated to each function, performance is enhance. FastLane Technology is ideal for HD streaming & online gaming. When you enable FastLane Technology, two options are available.
Note: If all your devices and your WiFi router support only the 2.4 GHz band, or all your devices and your WiFi router support only the 5 GHz band, do not enable FastLane Technology.
Two WiFi Modes: NETGEAR's AC1200 increases the distance of a WiFi network. The extender can connect to your network's WiFi signal and then boost that signal or it can connect to your network with a wired connection and work as an access point. You use the Access Point/Extender switch on the side of the extender to select which way you want to use the extender.
Dual-Band WiFi w/ External Antennas: The NETGEAR AC1200 features dual-band WiFi with up to 300 Mbps for 2.4 GHz network and 900 Mbps for 5 GHz network. It also features two external antennas for extended range and maximum signal coverage.
Gigabit Ethernet Port: There is one 10/100/1000 Ethernet port with auto-sensing technology. This Gigabit Ethernet port is used to connect a wired device like a smart TV or game console to your home's WiFi network.
Flexible & Secure Setup: The WiFi range extender offers WPS & Web Browser setup. Secure WiFi connections offer the highest level of WPA/WPA2/WPA2-PSK security.
WiFi Analytics App: Use the NETGEAR WiFi Analytics app on your Android (OS 2.2+) smartphone or tablet to get advanced analytics to optimize your existing or newly extended WiFi network. Check your network status, WiFi signal strength, identify crowded WiFi channels and much more.
Wall-Plug Design: The AC1200 WiFi Range Extender's convenient wall plug design offers discreet and easy placement. It simply plugs into a AC power outlet.
Smart LED: Smart LED indicators help find the best extender placement for optimal WiFi coverage while displaying real-time, extender network status
System Requirements: Make sure your home network meets the following system requirements.
Firmware Updates: The extender is set up to check for new firmware automatically at login. Click here for the latest firmware/software updates from NETGEAR.

After having no success with household wiring dependent WiFi extenders, this one did the trick! I can now stream with the not-WiFi-ready Marantz AVR7007. It works so well I bought a second one for a similar application in another location. [ PAUL T Mar 08, 2016 ]

Use a computer that's connected to your Wi-Fi Range Extender (not your router) via ethernet or wireless connection. Open an Internet browser. Type in: wwwmywifiextnet Log in using your existing Username and Password. Click Settings then Wireless Under General, look for WiFi Password. You can change it there. [ Paul Jan 07, 2019 ]
The default password is the password to your main router/modem. Go to the NetGear website mywifiext dot net to confirm your setup is complete and the instructions for changing the password for the 2.4 and/or 5 bands. [ Carl Jan 07, 2019 ]
The extension range in feet can vary depending on what type of Wi-Fi your router is compatible with, the connection speed of your Internet provider, how many/what type of walls or obstructions are in the way, etc. so there's no real way to know exactly. However, this unit was designed to pick up weak and intermittent signals at the edge of a router's range and amplify them, so dead zones are filled with super-fast 1200 Mbps wireless signal. I cannot find specific information on how many feet it will work; not even on their site. However, I know that the extra distance will vary depending on what you are doing and how much bandwidth is needed with the distances getting shorter as the bandwidth needed increases.
