Requires a base kit or power supply
This add-on linear light requires a base kit that includes a 40-watt power supply, or a 95-watt power supply (both sold separately — see below). Either power supply can also provide current for additional Hue outdoor lights — you'll just need to make sure the total light output wattage remains under 40 or 95 watts.
Control it with the app
To set up the light, you'll need a Philips Hue Bridge (sold separately). Then, you can use the free Hue mobile app to select color and brightness, right from your smartphone. Use it from anywhere — at home, or even when you're not at home — as long as you're connected to the internet.
Automate it for welcome and security
Use the "Home & Away" feature in the app to make your linear light come on automatically when you arrive home.
If you'd like to welcome your guests — or warn off intruders — with an automatically illuminated exterior, you can pick up an outdoor motion sensor to trigger the light when people approach.
Or use your voice
You can also control your lighting system hands-free if you've got a voice assistant. The Amarant linear light works with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. That means you can turn your lights on or off, dim them, and recall your favorite presets just by asking.

Overview: The Philips Hue Amarant Linear Outdoor Light is an LED light bar that lets you light up large areas of your outdoor space. This 31" light fixture can illuminate a fence, wall, or hedge row in white or vivid color light. As part of the White and Color Ambiance series Amarant can produce white light from warm white to cool daylight (2000 to 6500 Kelvin) and 16-million colors. Control of the brightness and color requires wireless connection to the Hue Bridge (sold separately, or included in a Hue Starter Kit). This package includes the linear light fixture and extension cable. It does not include a power supply. The Linear Outdoor Light must be combined with the Outdoor Power Supply (sold separately), or at least one other Hue LowVolt lighting product which includes a power supply.
Linear Outdoor Light: The Amarant Linear Outdoor Light fixture is roughly 31" long, 2" high, and 2-11/16" deep, and is made of durable black textured aluminum. The fixture has a rating of IP65, which means the fixture is dust tight and protected from moisture, including jet spray from your sprinkler system. It features a white translucent lens with a wirelessly-controlled LED light. The package includes an 8-foot power cable extension for the light bar. The light has a bright 1400-lumen output (at 4000K), which is equivalent to a 104-watt bulb, yet it only consumes 20 watts of power. The built-in light bulb has an estimated lifetime of up to 25,000 hours. The fixture weighs approximately 3.7 pounds.
Installing: The Amarant Linear Outdoor Light is designed to light large outdoor areas, such as fences, hedges, or walls. The fixture has mounting holes at each end for securing it to the mounting surface. It can be installed on the ground and secured with pins or spikes. If installing on a masonry or concrete surface, wall anchors are recommended. Mounting hardware is not included.
Power Connections: The Philips Hue LowVolt system includes a variety of outdoor products that can be daisy-chained together via low-voltage (24 volts DC) cables. The Econic Outdoor Pedestal, Calla Outdoor Bollard, Lily XL Outdoor Spotlight, and the Amarant linear light all require connection to the optional 100-watt power supply (sold separately), or the 40-watt power supply that is included with Econic, Lily XL, or Calla "base units." The power supply can support any combination of LowVolt lighting products that do not exceed the total wattage of the power supply, or 115 feet (35 meters) of total cable length.
Hue Compatible Products: This Amarant Linear Outdoor Light not only works within the Philips Hue universe, but is compatible with many third party products, including many of the top voice assistants. Hue products work with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit (Siri), and Cortana by Microsoft. Using simple voice commands, you can turn the lights on and off, dim or brighten the lights, and set a light scene. In addition, other "Friends of Hue" include IFTTT (If This, Then That), Logitech, Nest, Xfinity, and SmartThings.
