Overview: The Philips Hue Motion Sensor is a combination
motion and daylight sensor for controlling Hue-compatible lighting products. It
can turn your Hue lights on and off automatically, triggered by motion or
daylight. The wireless Motion Sensor can be placed virtually anywhere--on a
tabletop or mounted to the wall or ceiling. It operates on two AAA batteries
(installed), and has a
battery life of 2-3 years. The Hue Motion Sensor must be used within the Hue Personal
Wireless Lighting System. Dimensions: 2.159"W, 2.165"H, 1.154"D.
Hue Motion Sensor: The Hue Motion Sensor will automatically
turn on your Philips Hue lights when you enter a room. Using the Hue app, you
determine which lights, or groups of lights, or scene should be turned on when
motion is detected. This is very helpful for automatically lighting a bathroom,
hallway, basement, or garage. When there is no motion detected, the lights can
be set to dim for a selected time before they turn off completely, saving you
money on electricity by not lighting unoccupied rooms.
Daylight Sensor: Using Passive Infrared (PIR), the Hue
Motion Sensor can automatically turn on the lights in a room when the ambient
light gets low near dusk or on a cloudy day. The Hue app lets you set different
light scenes for different times of the day: bright lights during the day when
you need to see better, and gentle light at bedtime or early morning. You can
also change the light sensitivity in the app to trigger the light when you need
Specifications: The Motion Sensor has an average detecting
range of approximately 5 meters (16.4 feet), and a reaction time of less than
one second. It operates on the Zigbee Light Link (ZLL) protocol (IEEE 802.15.4),
communicating with the Hue Bridge on the 2.4 GHz band.
Mounting: The Hue Motion Sensor can be placed on a flat
surface (shelf or table), or mounted on a wall or ceiling on the included
magnetic mount. The mount attaches with a single screw (included). On the mount,
the sensor can be swiveled left/right and tilted up/down up to 30°.
