Product Research

Overview: The Philips Hue Lightstrip Outdoor 80 provides a flexible way for you to add color to your outdoor decor. This 6.5' weatherproof Lightstrip provides a diffused light effect wherever you want it. As part of the White and Color Ambiance series the Lightstrip Outdoor can produce white light from warm white to cool daylight (2000 to 6500 Kelvin) and 16-million colors. Control of the brightness and color requires wireless connection to the Hue Bridge (sold separately, or included in a Hue Starter Kit). A longer Lightstrip Outdoor 197 (16.4 feet) is also available.

Lightstrip Outdoor: The Lightstrip Outdoor 80 consists of a flexible silicone strip that provides a uniform diffused light. Attached to one end of the 6.5' lightstrip is a 2' cable and transformer, which plugs into an 11.5' power supply and AC power cord. The lightstrip is roughly 3/4" x 7/16", and has an IP67 weatherproof rating. It comes with 24 plastic clips for mounting the strip where you desire. The Lightstrip Outdoor 80 has a 19-watt rating when lit, and 0.5-watt maximum standby power. It has an estimated life of up to 25,000 hours. It produces the following amount of light output (lumens):

  • 740 lumens at 2200K (Kelvin)
  • 760 lumens at 2700K
  • 850 lumens at 4000K
  • 900 lumens at 6500K

Hue Compatible Products: This Lightstrip Outdoor not only works within the Philips Hue universe, but is compatible with many third party products, including many of the top voice assistants. Hue products work with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Cortana by Microsoft. Using simple voice commands, you can turn the lights on and off, dim or brighten the lights, and set a light scene. In addition, other "Friends of Hue" include IFTTT (If This, Then That), Logitech, Nest, Xfinity, and SmartThings.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

What mounting options are available for this? Is it 360° lighting or directional? If directional, can it be mounted to a ceiling or soffit pointing downward?
[ Mitch  Sep 24, 2019 ]
1 answer
They produce closer to 180 degree lighting and would work well mounted under something like to the ceiling or a soffit
