The Hue Play Gradient Light Tube can display a seamless blend of colorful light, so it's a great way to show off Hue's excellent preset light scenes — both static and dynamic. And when used with the HDMI Sync Box, it can turn your walls into an extension of your screen with color-changing light that can mimic and extend what's on your TV. Setup is simple
You can place the Gradient Light Tube on your TV stand or mount it on the wall above or below your TV (screws required, not incuded). This compact model is designed for TVs up to 55". If you have a larger TV, check out the larger version.
To complete setup, you'll need a Philips Hue Bridge (sold separately). Then, you can use the Hue mobile app to select color and brightness, right from the palm of your hand. Use it from anywhere in your home, or even when you're not at home.
If you want the light to react to your content, you'll also need the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box and the Philips Hue Sync app. You'll create a new "entertainment area" in the Hue app and control light automation parameters with the Sync app.
Control it with your voice
You can control your lighting system hands-free if you've got a voice assistant. The Play Gradient Light Tube works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit devices (sold separately). That means you can turn your lights on or off, dim them, and recall your favorite presets just by asking.

Overview: The Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube - Compact is a slender tubular light designed for 40"-55" TVs. The tube can change color with what's on the screen, whether it's a movie, video game, or music video. Unlike some light tubes, the Play Gradient Light Tube lets you blend multiple colors together at the same time, and can match the predominant colors on the screen. The Play Gradient Light Tube requires the Hue Bridge and the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box are required to get the most out of light effects. Through the Philips Hue app on your smartphone or tablet, you can choose from millions of colors, variable color temperatures, and dim or brighten the intensity of the light. You can also control the Light Tube with your voice through your favorite Voice Assistant.
Gradient Light Output: The Light Tube can be easily installed above, below, or beside your TV and aim it so that it washes your wall with color. You can place the tube on a shelf or cabinet, or mount it to the wall (screws not included). The 29.75" light-emitting lens takes up less than 1/4 of the circumference of the tube, projecting light toward the wall instead of into the room. The tube rotates 340° inside the end caps, allowing you to aim the light in the direction you desire. The light output is rated at 1100 lumens at 2700K (color temperature) out of the box, but the output increases to up to 1540 lumens at 4000K. The Light Tube is capable of producing up to 16 million colors, or 50,000 shades of warm white (2000K) to cool white light (6500K). You can choose to light the tube in one color or simultaneously blend multiple colors over the length of the LED light tube. The LED lights are not user-replaceable.
Hue Sync Box: To enable surround lighting with the Play Gradient Light Tube, you must wirelessly connect it to the Play HDMI Sync Box. The Sync Box works with any HDMI device, and causes the light tube to change color, brighten, dim, and flash in sync with the action on your TV screen.
Wireless Control: The Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube requires the Hue Bridge (sold separately), and the Philips Hue app for wireless control by your smartphone or tablet. The Hue Sync mobile app provides additional control over the Sync Box for changing the intensity of the lights, adjust their brightness, and set the sync mode.
Voice Assistants: The Play Gradient Light Tube can be controlled with voice commands through your favorite voice assistant. Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri (Apple HomeKit) can assist you in setup and control of your light tube.
