About the Philips Hue Play White and Color Ambiance Light Bar

Set the scene
Set the scene
Adding colorful backlighting behind my TV really upped my entertainment game. And the LED strip I have back there isn't even smart — I have to turn it on with a chintzy remote. Play from Philips Hue makes it so much easier (and more fun). Like the rest of the "white and color ambiance" collection, this light bar lets you choose from over 16 million colors and 50,000 shades of cool to warm white light.

Add just the right ambiance to your movies and shows with the Play Light Bar.
To set up the Play, you'll need a Philips Hue Bridge (sold separately). Then, you can use the Hue mobile app to select color and brightness, right from the palm of your hand. Use it from anywhere in your home, or even when you're not at home. The HDMI Sync Box (sold separately) even lets you synchronize your lights to your movies, music, and games.
Mounting options
The Play light bar can be attached to the wall behind your TV or directly to the back of your TV using the included mounting clip. It also comes with a stand that lets you place it upright for a bit more directional flexibility. Or you can simply lay it flat on a table or TV stand.
You can choose a single light bar or a pack of two. But the wall adapter included in either kit can actually support up to three bars. That means you can expand your smart lighting later with the add-on Extension Bar (sold separately). And if you need a little extra line between a bar and the wall adapter — you can pick up an Extension Cable.
Control it with your voice
You can control your lighting system hands-free if you've got a voice assistant. Play works with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. That means you can turn your lights on or off, dim them, and recall your favorite presets just by asking.
Other control options
Operating your lights with an app or your voice is fun, but you might find that some members of the household prefer a good old fashioned wall switch. If so, you can pick up a Hue dimmer or Tap. Or, if you've got a lot of smart gadgets you want to easily operate from one place, try replacing a wall outlet with a Brilliant Smart Home Control.

Product Research
Features
Overview: The Philips Hue Play LED light bar gives you a unique way to light your home. As a part of the White and Color Ambiance series, Play can add color to any room with ranges of warm to cool white light, plus up to 16-million colors. The light bar must be connected (wirelessly) to the Hue Bridge (sold separately) for color and brightness control. Dimensions: 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" x 10" (W x H x L); Weight: 8-1/2 ounces.
Suggested Uses: The Play light bar can be used to decorate your room with light, create an ambiance or light mood, or sync the lights with music, movies, or games. Placing a light bar behind or attached to your TV illuminates the wall behind it, enhancing the experience of watching a movie or playing a video game. Painting your room with light will create a mood for special moments. Lighting can help you wake up in the morning, or relax in the evening. If you're having a party, syncing the lights with the music will add to the atmosphere of the event. The Philips Hue app lets you choose the color and intensity of the light, and lets you set light schedules to fit your daily routine or special occasions. The Philips Hue app is compatible with iOS (13.0 or later) and Android (versions vary with device) devices.
Friends of Hue: Philips Hue home lighting products work with many third-party devices to make it simpler to operate. Philips Hue works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Windows Cortana, and Apple HomeKit, allowing you to control your lights with your voice. The lights also work with some Logitech Harmony remote controls, Samsung SmartThings, and Nest Thermostats and other products. In addition, Philips Hue lighting products can be triggered by certain events through the IFTTT (If This Then That) app.
Mounting Options: The Play light bar can be installed in a variety of ways using the two mounts included in the box. The TV-mounting clip attaches at the center of the light bar, and allows you to mount the light to the back of a TV, or any flat surface. The Table stand has an arm that can hold the light bar straight up on a tabletop (attached to the end of the light bar). It can also mount the light to the back of a TV with the light aimed upward (attached to the center of the light bar). Both mounts can be attached to a flat surface with the included 3M dual adhesive pad. Play can also be placed flat on a tabletop without a bracket. The angled rear panel lets you aim the light toward a wall or another object.
Power: The Philips Hue Play has a 6-1/2 foot long cord, and comes with an AC adapter. The adapter has three 24-volt DC outputs, allowing you to power three light bars at the same time. The optional Play light bar extension pack is designed as an add-on light (comes without an AC adapter) to the Play Light Bar. An optional 16.4' extension power cable (sold separately) for the Play Light Bar is available, if needed.
