About the Memphis Audio 15-M615D2
Big bass, Memphis style
Big bass, Memphis style
From Elvis to Stax, the "Memphis Sound" has always relied on a foundation of deep, rich bass to tie the music together. Now, Memphis Audio brings that bass tradition to your ride with their M6 Series subwoofers.
Ready to pound
Memphis Audio created the M6 Series 15-M615D2 15" subwoofer for high-performance bass reproduction. The fiberglass reinforced cone offers exceptional rigidity so it maintains accuracy at high levels, while its double-stitched rubber surround helps to maximize and control excursion. The vented cast aluminum basket keeps things cool, and virtually eliminates resonances that can color your bass.
Handles plenty of power
The 2.5" voice coils combine with a 120-ounce magnet to handle up to 900 watts RMS, so make sure you feed this sub plenty of power. The dual 2-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for 1 or 4 ohms for system flexibility.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 650 and 1350 watts at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Memphis Audio 15-M615D2 reviews
I've had tow sets of these in the frames of them would come apart and make a bunch noise in the Voice coil
Pros: When they work they sound great
Cons: Memphis don't stand behind their product One year warranty is just not enough for them because they only last about a year if that

I had the 10 inch version and i completely agree with douglas review..it was professionally installed and i didn't really push it hard and after a few weeks it lost half of the spl. Sql was still very decent though it follows the music well

Hey Crutchfield review readers! My name is Douglas and I've been working in car audio for awhile now. I've done everything from simple deck install to full fiberglass boxes. But now on to the review on the Memphis M6 15. This subwoofer is they worst dollar value woofer I've seen. What I mean by that is there are a lot better of options you can get for around the same price. This woofer was put in a custom built box(ported) for the specs of this woofer. And I was not impressed one Rockford fosgate p3 15 sounds almost the same. I've tested both on a Rockford fosgate T1500bdcp amp. Also both in custom box built for the specs of each subwoofer. There was minimal difference in sound quality and SPL. My opinion not worth the extra money.
Pros: 1. Sounds clean at low volumes. 2. Looks amazing. 3. Speaker terminals are built really good.
Cons: 1. Not a SPL woofer 2. Not a sound quality woofer. I think Memphis was going for a mix of SPL and SQ. 3. Not worth the price tag. 4. Gets hot fast(amp was tuned with a smd DD1+) 5.weighs nothing compared to other brands on the market for the same price. 6. Once you get to a higher volume the subwoofer barely makes noise over mids/highs (T600-4) (T400-4)

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features two 2Ω voice coils, allowing impedance flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.
Terminals: The two sets of spring post terminals are on the same side of the subwoofer. They will accommodate bare speaker wire up to 10 gauge. They will also accommodate many single banana plugs, but the post is slightly recessed, so some single banana plugs will not fit well. The binding posts are spaced too far apart to accept standard dual banana plugs (¾").
Sealed Box Volume: Memphis Audio recommends a sealed box volume of 3.0 ft³. A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequencies.
Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume is 4.75 ft³ with a 15½" x 3" x 16½" slot port; this yields a tuning frequency of 38 Hz. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, maximizing bass output for a given amplifier.
