About the Memphis Audio 15-PRX12S4
Thunder and lightning
Thunder and lightning
Sometimes the wind blows just right down Beale Street, and it brings up thunder and lightning. Memphis Audio built their Power Reference Series subwoofers to bring some low-frequency thunder into your ride. The 15-PRX12S4 12" subwoofer delivers big bass and high output, with an improved suspension and coil design that allows this sub to handle up to 300 watts RMS.
The power of paper
There's a reason that most electric bassists use paper speakers – it sounds warm! Memphis Audio uses a coated paper cone with a double-stitched foam surround to build a sub that creates classic bass tone while still standing up to the power demands of today's bass-heavy music. The 4-ohm impedance works great when you're bridging an amp or putting together a multi-sub setup.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Features
Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight installations.
Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Memphis Audio recommends a sealed enclosure of 1.25 ft³, yielding a -3 dB point of 45 Hz.
Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Memphis Audio recommends a ported enclosure of 2.66 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/4" x 16-1/2" slot port, yielding a tuning frequency of 38 Hz and a -3 dB point of 30 Hz.
