Proven design

Memphis Audio designed their Bass Reference Series subwoofers with one thing in mind: giving you the deep, rich, soulful bass you've been looking for. These durable subs combine proven technology and materials with rugged design to create subwoofers that will handle high power and keep on kicking.

"Old-school" bass

The BRX1044 10" subwoofer sports a reinforced high-density paper cone that lays down warm, "old school" bass that'll have your vehicle rocking. The double-stitched surround helps this sub handle up to 400 watts RMS, so you can feed it plenty of power. The sub's dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to draw maximum power from your mono amp. Just add an amp and an enclosure, and you've got the makings of a real bass party.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 300 and 600 watts at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Small Beast That Beats Hard

2014 Honda Accord

I purchased this sub based on the great experiences that I have had with past Memphis Audio amplifiers. I have purchased JL Subs for my last 3 vehicles, but since I am now 5 from 50, I figured that the W6 would be overkill in my recently purchased Honda Accord Sport Sedan. The sub arrived swiftly,( thanks Crutchfield!! ), and upon my initial inspection, I found the BRX1040 to be wonderfully and beautifully made! The overall design of the sub is impressive and the massive magnet adds some serious poundage to the overall weight! My installer is a friend of mine, ( 20 years of installs can do that ), and he was equally impressed with the weight and overall build quality of the sub and the new PRX1000.1 amp that I chose to run this baby beast of a sub. He wired it in 2 ohm configuration and we have the amp's gain set at about 3/8th so that the sub gets enough power to start the break-in period. I must say that this sub is anything but subtle. It's not broken in and this sub pounds hard and clean!! I am sure that after the break-in this sub will be able to hang with my W6 easily!! I would be hard pressed to say that it would pound equivocally, but the BRX/PRX combo should definitely come close and for allot less money! I can't wait to feel the bass once this thing breaks in!! I would strongly recommend this combo!!!

Pros: Everything. Great Price

Cons: None

I love this sub it takes a little time to break in but wow my 2 10" sound really clean and hit really hard I'm running my 2 subs with a Phoenix gold1200.1sx and it really rocks these really good.

Pros: These subs really pound hard and I cant believe how much power these things take but the best subs I have ever bought do sure.

Cons: None

Awesome

I have this Sub installed in a Ram 1500 crew cab matched with a Rockford Fosgate Power series T-500.1BDCP and all I have to say is WOW!! I've had a lot of systems in the day and just got out of a SUV with 2 Fosgate P3 10's. So I began the search for a single 10 sub setup for the truck. Not an easy task! With that said, give this a shot, you WONT be disappointed..! BTW, I purchased from a different online source and looking at this price, I wish I stopped here first!!

Pros: Phenomenal

Cons: None

Product Research

Features

Woofer Terminals: The woofer has spring post wire terminals. They will accommodate bare speaker wire up to 10 gauge.

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 4Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Memphis Audio recommends a sealed enclosure of 1.0 ft.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Memphis Audio recommends a ported enclosure of 1.5 ft³ with a 10-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 17-3/4" slot port, yielding a tuning frequency of 38 Hz.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
