A sturdy home for your audio gear

High performance audio gear can be affected by even minor vibrations transmitted through the floor. The Solidsteel S2-5 audio stand uses quality materials and construction to minimize those vibrations. The four open shelves are ideal for oversized audio components, such as a power amp, preamp, or power conditioner.

Quality construction

S2-series stands are Solidsteel's most affordable, but they're still solidly built with audio performance in mind. Each shelf is made of vibration-dampening MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), and supported by aluminum pillars. The pillars rest on solid steel carpet spikes that virtually isolate the stand — and the components it holds — from vibrations transmitted through the floor.

NOTE: To use this stand on a hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl floor, we recommend using a set of Solidsteel protective discs (not included) to prevent scratches.

Solidsteel S2-5

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I think this is a great rack. I've owned the Sanus Euro rack and the Salamander and prefer the Solidsteel rack over both of these. Goes together very easily; took me less than a half hour to assemble.

Pros: Goes together very easily; looks really nice.

Cons: None.

Cheap Junk In Every Way Except Price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This stand ships in a flat pack with the thinnest slivers of styrofoam to protect it inside the box. Despite no visible damage to the box, all of my shelves were marred as if they'd been dropped directly on their edges or corners. I was able to generally oriented these shelves so the damaged edge was facing backwards, but this stand straight out of the box does not look or feel like a piece at this price. While I love my Solidsteel speaker stands, this product is of a substantially cheaper quality and feels less "luxury" than a basic Salamander rack. Tolerance on the holes in the shelves didn't perfectly match up to the columns, so several of the columns cut away at the veneer material as they were inserting, making it look and feel even cheaper. Once assembled the stand is solid, though the adjustment spikes don't have a ton of travel if your floor is imperfect. The assembly instructions are not great (pro-tip: assemble top-down not bottom-up) and there are two different screws with slightly different thread lengths on each end; pay careful attention. All in all just a sort of janky product and criminally insufficient packaging (this should be at minimum double boxed if you want any hope of it arriving undamaged).

Pros: Large shelf size accommodates large equipment.

Cons: Insufficient packaging to protect from damage during shipping. Poor assembly instructions. More damage likely to be caused during assembly when screwing leg columns into shelves. Not a lot of adjustment travel on leveling spikes.

Features

Solidsteel Philosophy: Solidsteel's philosophy is that there should be no compromise in the build quality or benefits to sonic performance, and that the products should reflect the Italian "style" of design with the use of excellent materials, clean lines, well-considered utilization of space, and attention to detail.

S2 Series: The S2 Series is Solidsteel's entry level range of audio stands created to satisfy the very essential needs of those looking for a very sturdy vertical structure for their audio equipment at a very affordable price.

5 MDF Shelves: The Solidsteel S2-4 audio rack features five fixed shelves. The dimensions of the shelves have been designed for the most common audio/video components. All five shelves are made of MDF wood (22m/0.86" of thickness) with a polymer laminate. The top shelf measures 23" (w) x 16.9375" (d). The other four shelves measure 19.75" (w) x 16.9375" (d). The top shelf sits 42.125" off the floor, while the four lower shelves each have a compartment height of 8.625". Each shelf can support up to 110 lbs.

4-Pillar Design with Aluminum Construction: The four pillar design is geometrically positioned to give maximum support and minimum physical contact with the surrounding environment. The 4 pillars (poles) are made of painted anodized aluminum and the hardware parts are of AVP iron (galvanized to prevent rust).

Stainless Steel Spikes: Solidsteel's traditional and adjustable stainless steel spikes are included to finely regulate the frame on the ground. The included spikes screw underneath of the audio rack's bottom shelf. The spike feet provide a solid and secure footprint. All spurious mechanical energies are discharged into the ground through the spike feet at the point where the audio rack's legs contact the floor.

Optional Protective Discs: There are no rubber feet or protective discs included with this audio rack, so be careful not to scratch your hardwood, laminate, tile, and vinyl floors with the spike feet. We recommend you purchase one set of Solidsteel's protective discs (961DISCS4, sold separately) to protect your floors from damage.
