Product Research
Features
Compatibility: The Zenmuse Z3 gimbal camera is compatible with DJI's Inspire 1, Matrice 100, and Matrice 600 aerial drones. Once connected, it works seamlessly with the integrated DJI Lightbridge and Lightbridge 2 found on these platforms to provide 3.1mi (5km) of HD transmission range. Aircraft setup can be further accelerated using the DJI SDK to create industry specific aircraft automation protocols that maximize aircraft efficiency.
Note: Flight times when used with a DJI Inspire 1 reach up to 19 minutes, and can even reach 30 minutes when flying a dual-battery equipped Matrice 100 and 39 minutes using the Matrice 600.
3-Axis Gimbal: Perfectly integrated with the camera, a 3-axis gimbal utilizes DJI's world-leading stabilization technology to automatically stabilize your camera in flight. This gimbal communicates constantly with the aircraft as you fly, and powerful brushless motors instantly respond to every minor movement to keep the camera level, even when capturing long exposure or time-lapse content. So focus on what you want to shoot, knowing that the resulting footage will be stable and ready to use. The gimbal can tilt the camera up to 120° and pan 320° in either direction, providing 640° of yaw rotation.
- Angular Vibration Range: ±0.02°
- Controllable Range: Tilt: +30° to -90°, Pan: ±320°, Roll: ±15°
- Mechanical Range: Tilt: +50° to -140°, Pan: ±330°, Roll: +90° to -50°
- Max Controllable Speed: 120°/s
Aerial Zoom Camera: The DJI Zenmuse Z3' camera that is optimized for aerial videography and still photography. The camera features an optical zoom lens with 3.5x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom with a 92° wide-angle field of view. The 1/2.3" CMOS sensor supports 4K video recording and 12MP still photos.
- Image Sensor: Featuring the same highly refined Sony 1/2.3" sensor found on the DJI Inspire 1 2.0 and DJI Phantom 4, image quality is class leading. Still images can be captured at a resolution of 12 megapixels, while Adobe DNG RAW support allows for advanced image editing. Video can be captured at up to 30 frames per second in crisp 4K.
- Zoom Lens: A 7x zoom made up of 3.5x optical and 2x digital lossless zoom creates a 22mm to 77mm equivalent focal length range, making it ideal for industrial applications. When a camera is zoomed in the smallest movements are magnified. Adding an additional layer of stability to the yaw control of the Z3 is a custom designed reaction wheel. This works in tandem with the normal yaw motor to allow for more refined movement.
DJI Go App: DJI's GO app (for Apple iOS 8.0+ and Android OS 4.4+) is tightly integrated with the Z3, acting as both a HD live feed to see the camera's image and the primary control system for the camera from your compatible Apple iOS or Android mobile device. It can be used to change camera settings, swipe to zoom in and out, capture photo or video, and activate Intelligent Flight Modes. Photo and video capture as well as zoom can also be controlled through dedicated controls on the Remote Controller of your compatible DJI aerial drone.
4K Video: The DJI Zenmuse Z3 can record video in 4K Ultra HD or 1080p Full HD. Choose between the following resolutions and frame rates - 4K (4096x2160) @ 24/25p, 4K (3840x2160) @ 24/25/30p, 2.7K (2704×1520) @ 24/25/30p, 1080p (1920x1080) @ 24/25/30/48/50/60p. Video is recorded in MOV or MP4 onto a microSD card. You can use the DJI Go App on your compatible smartphone device or the controller of your compatible DJI drone to control video recording. The following advanced video controls can be done through the DJI Go App.
- White Balance: Auto (auto white balance), Preset Modes (Sunny/Cloudy/Incandescent/Neon), or Custom (2000k-10000K).
- Photo Styles: Standard (general purpose for most scenes), Landscape (focus on as much of scene as possible with large depth of field), Soft (suitable for scenes with natural or soft colors), or Custom (manually set sharpness/contrast/saturation).
- Color: D-LOG, D-Cinelike, None, Art, B&W, Vivid, Beach, Dream, Classic, or Nostalgia
Still Photography: The DJI Zenmuse Z3 captures photos in 12 megapixels (4:3 aspect ratio) or 9 megapixels (16:9 aspect ratio). Still photo images are recorded into JPEG, DNG, or JPEG+GNG onto a microSD card. You can use the DJI Go App on your compatible smartphone device or the controller of your compatible DJI drone as the camera's shutter button. The following advanced photography controls can be done through the DJI Go App.
- Shooting Modes: Single Shot (Normal), Burst (take 3/5/7 shots in a row), Auto Exposure Bracketing (take 3/5 bracketed frames with +/- 0.7EV steps for exposure compensation), or Time-Lapse (take 5/7/10/20/30 second intervals).
- Exposure Modes: Auto (shutter speed/aperture set automatically), Shutter Priority (manually set shutter speed while camera automatically sets aperture), or Manual (manually set shutter speed and aperture).
- Photo Styles: Standard (general purpose for most scenes), Landscape (focus on as much of scene as possible with large depth of field), Soft (suitable for scenes with natural or soft colors), or Custom (manually set sharpness/contrast/saturation).

- Color: D-Log, D-Cinelike, None, Art, B&W, Vivid, Beach, Dream, Classic, or Nostalgia
microSD Card Slot: The Zenmuse Z3 features a microSD card slot and comes with a 16GB microSD card. It supports microSD/SDHC/SDXC cards with a capacity of up to 64GB. DJI recommends using a UHS-1 microSD card to minimize the delay when reading and high resolution video data. You can download your photo and video files to your computer via a microSD card reader (sold separately).
microUSB Port: You can also download your photo and video files to your computer via the Z3's microUSB port and a USB cable (sold separately).
