I'm new to the audiophile world and first bought Klipsch r51m bookshelf speakers in May. I paired that with the Yamaha A-S301 BL integrated amp and a Klipsch R8-sw.I wanted to hear the difference between horn and soft dome tweeters on this system so I bought the Elacs. What a difference! I feel like I'm front row. The Klipsch are still great for movies

Pros: Can't wait to break them in

Cons: None at all

I bought these speakers based on all of the reviews I read and listen to on YOUTUBE. I have an old 100-watt Pioneer receiver, JVC CD deck, and an Audio Technica AT-LP 120 UBS Direct-Drive Professional turntable. I was totally blown away! The more I use them the better they sound. Clear transparent sound, good bass for a speaker of this size. Solid construction utilizing quality materials. The sound when playing vinyl is spot on. CD's are unbelievable! You do not need a woofer with these speakers. Later on, I think I will purchase the center speaker and that will complete the setup.

Pros: Great for the budget! The sound is crisp and clear. The bass is awesome, not overpowering.

Cons: For speakers of this quality, They should upgrade to magnets to attach the grills.

Bought these to replace a more expensive pair of bookshelf speakers--one had blown. What a difference. These speakers are vibrant, without being sharp. Solid, but not overly heavy bass. Incredible sound for such a small footprint. Great value. Would highly recommend.

Pros: Great sound.

Cons: None.

These speakers sound amazing paired with my Cambridge Audio CXA60. The 6.5"woofers are very capable of reproducing a lot of bass, but they won't rattle the walls or anything like that. The sound is clear at higher volumes with proper tone adjustments. I'm sure they'll even sound a little better once I put them on stands too. I really feel like I have to look to see were the sound is coming from, it's pretty awesome.

Pros: Impressive sound quality, bass reproduction is amazing for their size. I keep looking around the room for bigger speakers.

Cons: None

Speakers are as expected from reading reviews and store commentary. Speakers have a musical sound to them, hard to say it's because of one characteristic or another but they sound good. Some transients get squashed a bit whether it's in a Mahler symphony or a rock album but these speakers sound great.

Pros: Musical sounding, full range, nice bass even though I use a sub-woofer just a tad.

Cons: Some transient FFFs get a bit fuzzy for an instant--like a cymbol crash accompanied by a slam from the rest of the band. Speakers don't smooth over harsh material--don't really know if that's a con.

With the COVID-19 lockdown I have been upgrading and playing with my two sound systems. First up was my den as I am spending 8 hours a day in here. Spoke with Crutchfield and got these ELACs - this was after I was thinking of getting some speakers that were twice the price. My room isn't all that big ,10x10, and I have these hooked up to a late 70s Yamaha CR-440 with a SHIIT Modi DAC connected to a Mac and TIDAL. Whoa!!!!! This setup is great. There is a reason you are seeing so many positive reviews on these guys both here and on YouTube. The Yamaha powers these things awesome - I've never gone past 50% (vintage amps are the way). Put on Philip Glass, Vampire Weekend, Wale or whatever you want - this setup owns it. I'm always playing with placement as sometimes I am at my desk and sometimes on the sofa behind me. As always I am glad I went through Crutchfield and they have earned my business and I trust them - fantastic customer service.

Pros: sound, sound, sound - all the highs, all the lows and no sub needed.

Cons: wish the finish was just that much better and wish the grills were with magnets, but for the price this seems awfully picky.

I was initially unimpressed. I hooked these up to my ancient Sansui 441 and felt they lacked quite a bit in presence. However, after about 20 hours, I hooked them up to my new Cambridge receiver and they came alive. These speakers need power to wake up. In the right size room, with optimal placement, there is no need for a sub. Build quality is average and they are not as pleasing to look at as other bookshelf speakers but the sound quality is quite good. I now get the hype.

Pros: Price, Crutchfield service, good overall sound quality.

Cons: None really, nothing aesthetically pleasing about them.

Oh my _! Now I understand all the raves...... My mains are a set of JBL 530s and a SVS PB1000, not the most expensive, but not cheap. 140 watts of Yamaha Aventage at 6 ohms, my reference. Elacs hooked up to Yamaha 481, at 110 w at 6ohms, with a Yamaha NSSW 100, SW. Unhooked the Def Tec SM65, for the B6.2. At first they gave me that sound of way back, uncompressed, original sound. No coloration. A good thing. With Pandora just alright. Then some Steve Miller on CD, along with some M Gentry, and C Trick. All CDs I love on my main. Sounds good, played with the internal eq and balance. Really good but not enough that I will keep Them. Decided to run the internal YPAO on the Yammi. All checked out OK. It set to the crossover to 40, seems to be the norm in this room. Sat down in my chair and pressed play. The YPAO program literally picked up the soundstage and dropped it perfectly in place. I have never heard music coming from so many places at once! I was dumbstruck. I was not done though, what if I check the sub crossover. I raised it to 50 , 60 and at 90, the sub and B6.2 just fell in love with each other. I auditioned the RP51 from Klipsch just last month in the same room. Awesome product and tremendous sound, but my ears would ring. The SM 65 stayed and the RP51, returned. I thought I would never replace the SM 65, B6.2 so musical, unreal at this price. I would dare to put these up against the JBL 530, as long as I have an option of room correction. Yes that good!

Pros: Cost Clarity Details Soundstage Musical These are a drop the mic explosion, with room correction. Don't even care what a movie sounds like, its that good for music

Cons: I used room correction to blow the sound up!! Is this a con, not in my opinion. CField was sold out, so I strayed to get them.

1 x C6.2, 2 x B6.2 and 4 x B5.2

Crutchfield customer from Tulsa, OK on 4/15/2020

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I chose the Debut's because the reviews indicated that they were tonally balanced. I took a chance and ordered a pair of B6.2's and a C6.2 as the front three for surround. After listening to them for a week, I liked them so well that I took advantage of the sale that was still in effect and ordered two pairs of B5.2's, two for surround and the other two are on my desktop - for now. In my room with the surround, all of the surfaces are hard and the furniture is leather, so I had been concerned that some of the other brands in this category would be harsh in this room, as are my Klipsch Forte's that live in another room with carpet. These are indeed balanced tonally in this room. I am unaware of the tweeter, the treble is just *there* where it belongs. Not screechy or muted. I'm in the acoustical Goldilocks zone. I found that there is a slight tonal difference between the C6.2 and the B6.2's. I only hear it with the pink noise setup-tones in the surround receiver. It almost sounds as if the main vocal range is punched up a tiny bit, but it is still minor. The tonal difference between the B6.2's and the B5.2's is very small. So just listening, music of various types and styles and quality, movies of various types and I haven't been dissatisfied yet, in the month I've had them. These are mated with a folded horn sub, crossed over at 60 Hz. I might try something different someday. I'm good for now.

Pros: Clear, smooth, uncolored sound. Look nice with the grill off. Build is sturdy, internal bracing allows me to place TV on the C6.2.

Cons: Cloth covered plastic grill and snap-in mounts, would prefer magnetic. Packaging uses Styrofoam, would prefer something more readily recyclable and/or collapsible, perhaps all-cardboard supporting structures.

So beautiful, they brought tears of joy to my eyes!

Crutchfield customer from San Francisco, CA on 3/29/2020

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I have only one classical cd I know pretty well. First played it on my old speakers. After I changed to the Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 it was like new music, closing my eyes I felt as though they were really playing right there. That's when tears of joy came to my eyes! I don't really "hear the speakers" but rather the music!:-) My CD player plays at 24/92. All my CD's sound much better! The second most noticeable positive change was in my Vinyl. I'm playing on a vintage Technics 3350 (1978/79) turntable with a Schiit Audio Mani phono preamp. The third biggest positive change was streaming (Bluetooth only at 24/44.1. My understanding is that it's a good idea to get good speakers first and then upgrade the other components. In the future I'd like to get a CD that plays at least 24/192 and WiFi streamer that plays the same. And upgrade my current receiver (old Denon S-301). In summary the Elac speakers are a great upgrade to my system and make my music come alive at a new higher level! Great value! I got my pair on sale and "scratch and dent" (no visible scratches or dents at all!!:-). I am very happy, satisfied and truly love these speakers for the beautiful music the reproduce. I find them great for classic Rock (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young...) Jazz (Miles Davis...) and Classical (Tchaikovsky...) If these speakers are an upgrade for you I'm confident you will love them too!!!:-)))

Pros: Bring out details in music I never heard Nice base Nice range Nice imaging Nice sound stage Great value!!!

Cons: None really. I sure if you spend a lot more you can get better.

Ideal Bookshelf Speakers if you have actual bookshelves!

Crutchfield customer from Lake Forest, CA on 2/9/2020

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I ordered these during Black Friday week, took a while to get them hooked up to a move and have now finally had some time with them. I have these matched to the Debut C6.2 center channel and an SVS NSD-SB12 sub. These speakers are powered by a Cambridge CRX120 (plent of power for these). Video is either streamed or from an Oppo BDP-103. Overall, I love this combination! For reference, these are used for video/home theater and audio in the main family room, which is adjacent to our kitchen. The room has bookshelves; so, for once, bookshelf speakers are actually on bookshelves! Huge news here is that the ports are on the front. That's a requirement in this installation case and there aren't many choices that offer this. The good news is that these don't just meet the minimum requirement of front port, but they are fantastic speakers, especially at their price (even more so around Black Friday). I find that these faithfully reproduce everything thrown at them (music or tv/movie material). These are not too bright nor too boomy (receiver crossover point is 80hz, which seems to work well). I have occasionally run these in stereo mode (no sub/no crossover) just to see how they sounded, and they hold up very well. The 6.5-inch drivers are quite capable! Also, I added isolating feet to these to eliminate any rattles on the shelves. I never listened without them, so I can't say how much difference they made. Overall, I'm very, very happy with these!

Pros: Very nicely balanced for movies or music. Front port means can be shelf-mounted. Amazing for the price.

Cons: I haven't found any yet.

After more than a year of ownership, I still have these connected to an aging Yamaha receiver and they are a huge step up from the prior speakers. Very happy with their music playback in all genres I've listened to so far. I'm still not totally satisfied with the imaging when used in home theater when dialogue moves from side thru center to the other side, but that might be the receiver and or lack of center.

Great sounding speakers set up in the bookshelf configuration for listening to music of all genres. Pair perfectly with classic Adcom GFA-535 smp. Clear transperant sound, good bass for a speaker of this size. Solid construction utilizing quality materials. No need to push to extreme levels as that is not what I require in this setting and wouldn't attempt without a subwoofer and crossover. Competively priced but free shipping with no "lag time" out of the warehouse and excellent customer service from Bear sealed the deal.

Had Polk bookshelves speakers, which I thought sounded great. They had a back port and were close to the wall so went with these Elac due to the front port design and size of speaker I was looking for. Wow! From the very minute I hooked these up they blew me away. I didnt expect them to sound that much better but I was wrong. If you are going to be putting your speaker on an actual bookshelf close to a wall, you need to give these a try.

Pros: Front port. Solid construction. Clear, flat response

Cons: Cheaper looking grill. I leave mine off though.

I purchased the ELAC Debut B6.2 speakers as an upgrade to a pair of 1992 Cerwin Vega AT10 floor standing speakers I had purchased new back in the day. Based upon research I had done on bookshelf speakers, I was very excited to receive these. They arrived from Crutchfield only a few days after I ordered, just as promised, and a week before my 64th birthday in July. I hooked them up to a 90s model JVC A/V receiver and I immediately knew I'd made the right decision. The more I played them the better they sounded. A few months later I came upon a Marantz SR 4320 amp in great condition at a re-sale shop for twenty bucks! I brought it home, cleaned it up and hooked the B6.2s up to it. Wow! I now know what audio reviewers mean when they say something sounds "sweet". I listen in a spare bedroom in our home that has become my office, man cave, dog house, and play room. It is small, approximately 10 feet x 12 feet with what some would say, has too much stuff in it. As a consequence, sound is very nicely dispersed which is a good thing, most likely the main thing when listening to music. The B6.2s sit on top of the AT10s and the tweeters are at about ear level when I sit to listen. They are about a foot and a half from the wall and I sit approximately six feet away from them. These dang speakers keep me up too late at night! They sound so good I just don't wont to stop listening!

Selecting a speaker is like walking into a paint store and asking for "white" paint...you are handed a selection sheet of more "whites" than anything imagined. Recommendation and listening is best. However, how do you accomplish this over the internet...Crutchfield does a great job of helping. If you are considering build quality, these speakers are extremely well constructed. Crutchfield recommended these over the Polk I was considering. I already own the Polk S20 and could compare them side by side. To my hearing these speakers handled the bass better and had a better high end--especially on voice. Smooth and effortless for such a small speaker, these would be my choice when listening to either classical, jazz, or jazz singer. Realize these are small; however, they fill the room with sound. You cannot compare them to a three way like the JBL Century 100; but, they hold their presence and handle power well. If you are looking to put them in a small room and drive them with a vintage integrated amp like I am, you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Exceptional bass for a small speaker; power handling very good

A perfect fit

I don't think I would have bought a pair of speakers in the past that I didn't audition first. The sheer number of raves and recommendations for these changed my mind. So I ordered them with a Denon PMA-600 NE amplifier and a couple of sets of the Crutchfield Speaker cables. I first plugged in everything including a Sony FM tuner I had. When I fired it up, I just sat there listening. My new setup replaced a pair of much larger Polk speakers I had purchased decades ago. The sound is so much better than I could have imagined. Everything is clear, the bass is solid and I can sense no coloration to the sound. This is just the right size for a whole lot of people who want to enjoy their music with no additives. When I ran music from my digital files, I was blown away. These are absolutely fabulous. They just deliver the goods.

Pros: Perfect bookshelf size for most folks Crystal clear sound and well-defined bass

Hesitant to order over internet but packaging was superior and speakers and stands arrived in separate shipments in perfect condition. Love the stands and the feature for hiding the connection wires to my amp and their sturdiness. Sound quality and especially the bass is better than I expected. I will not hesitate at all in future to order from Crutchfield.

Pros: High quality construction, great sound quality highs and lows, like the front bass portal since having to locate close to wall on both side of entertainment cabinet.

I am not a professional audiophile so this is a subjective review based on my experience with the speakers and what I think about them personally. This is my first Elac speakers, and before that I had Cambridge Audio Aero 6 towers that were pretty good but lack detail on the top end. With the Elac DEbut 2.0 B6.2, the music experience went to another level. The detail of instruments are well defined, a lot better than the Aero 6. Sound stage is pretty wide and the stereo imaging is fantastic. These are very enjoyable speakers, large and heavy cabinet that for me is a plus for stability and acoustics. I like the design and the quality is pretty good, the price is amazing for what the offer. I have them paired with my Yamaha A-S1100 and the synergy is perfect. I highly recommend these if you appreciate hifi sound and enjoy large stereo imaging, these are a good option.

Pros: Detail, large stereo imaging, instrument separation and a great listening experience. Large bookshelf speakers with pretty good weigh that for me is a plus.

Cons: This is not a con at all, the tweeter is smooth and the top end could be a bit high but fixable by lowering the tone control for the treble. Again, my opinion only, these are fantastic speakers.

I am not an audiophile and have some hearing loss, so this review is very subjective and based on my experience. Wanting to get back into vinyl and actually listening to music, I selected these based on numerous reviews. I paired them with a Denon AVR-S750h with the idea of eventually building a 7.2 system. Purchased an Orbit turntable with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. 1st listen was the remastered Sgt Peppers LP. Incredible sound. Clear, crisp - had to turn it up a bit to get better bass effect (haven't picked out a subwoofer yet). 2nd listen was Traveling Wilburys. Again a great experience. In summary, great speakers at an good price (even at list of 299.99).

If you're looking at bookshelf speakers in the $200-300, just do yourself a favor and try these out. I tried a few different models in that range, mostly from Polk. The b6.2s are just on another level. The sound is so clear and crisp. They have satisfyingly deep and tight bass, something that is important to me as I like dance music. They are a great size and are quite attractive, much moreso in person than in pictures. Don't settle for something else. Seriously.

Pros: Crisp clean mids and highs Tight punchy bass Well built

Cons: Cloth grills feel cheap but are totally unnecessary The cabinet is plain (but not unattractive)

Thanks to Crutchfield for helping me select the right speakers and receiver. I'm sure I could have spent more money and had "slightly" better sound, but the room I'm using these in has high ceiling, lots of windows, and lots of furniture, so I just needed something that would fill up the room without taking up too much space and would be flexible enough to sound great in a room with many challenges.

I was very hesitant to order speakers online without even listening to them. The whole point of putting together a nice stereo system is to be able to hear good quality sound. It was the positive reviews of others that made me go ahead and order these speakers. It has been almost two weeks now and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I am not an audiophile and can't describe in technical terms what they sound like, but I can hear things very clearly and with a sense of warmth. I run these through an Emotiva TA-100 amp/preamp/DAC/tuner and with a Pro-JectDebut Carbon (DC) turntable, all sitting on top of an old solid wood desk. It all just works well. I must say that the buying experience with Crutchfield was great, with good advice from the salesperson who was able to answer my questions. I like the fact that the folks are knowledgeable and take care of the customer.

I needed a bookshelf do it all speaker, and I didn't want to spend allot. In steps in the Elacs here by Andrew Jones of Pioneer Speaker fame, and other high end makes he designed. This man knows what he is doing. I have been in high end forever, these I will tell you are it. Spend more sure. But if you haven't checked these out for the money, wow, you are missing out. Honest and clear articulate midrange, smooth easy highs. Even with my Onkyo TX-RZ820, it dances well. My bass response is my next goal. Would like a Subwoofer to finish off the bottom octaves of the music or movie event. These just image so well, and they are so friendly on the ears. No harshness in the mid treble as I always get scared about. Calibrated with the Onkyo's Auto Cal system, and it brought out the highs a bit more, bass stayed the same, and midrange is more forward but not in a painful way at all. Pretty easy drive for most amplifiers. This will get along great. 6 ohm load is nominal. Even a modest receiver or integrated will go great with these. I am wondering about a Tube amplifier like the Prima Luna. Holy Cow this would be epic. Construct is what I expect for this price. Nothing special. The Vinyl box and squared sharp corners make no illusions this is a value product. I am fine with that because inside is where the effort was spent. So who is this for? Everyone. I cannot see any application this speaker would not please. Easy to get along with in the whole spectrum.

Pros: Clarity, great imaging, easy to get along size.

Cons: A bit more bass would be nice. You want at least a small Subwoofer to create a richer fuller experience.

The goal was to go from a passive Klipsch floor standing speaker which after more than five years left me desiring something a little less bright in the high note category. After several purchases and returns with Crutchfield I came across these babies . It is difficult to put into words the harmonic balance the Elac posses . I use a Marantz integrated amplifier ( 70w x 2 ) to power the bookshelves. Listen to warm analog sound on records I collected and don't want to get off the couch. They are that good . Play CDs on an Oppo media player and I'm in a different world altogether. There is that much of a difference. But it's a good difference. This is my happy place , the ElACs help me get there . I hope you enjoy the ride as well .

Pros: Extremely balanced . Not too high , just enough bass . Fill the room musically with a problem. .

Cons: Non that I can think of .

As the title says, these are really good speakers. I was lucky enough to audition them at an actual audio shop locally a while back, and knew that for what I wanted (stereo setup), and what I was able to pay, these Elacs were perfect. I missed the sales on these but I'm not regretting paying the full price. To my ears this is a very neutral and balanced speaker. They put out exactly what you put through them. If your used to a more 'bright' sounding high end or bass with a little 'boom', then these might not be for you. Make no mistake - they will play loud. I have them paired with an Emotiva TA-100 that I figure puts out around 70 watts into 6 ohms and together the system sounds fantastic. Highly recommended.

Pros: Excellent sound. Great value even at normal price. Build quality is top notch.

Cons: None for me, but some might find the aesthetics a little plain. No shiny baffle, rounded corners, or multi-layered lacquered finish. They remind me of a pair of mid-eighties B&W bookshelf speaker I owned back in the day.

I still can't believe how amazing these speakers sound. I had been hearing about them since the first Debut line, but thought that mostly non-audiophiles were buying them to use in home theater set up's (fine btw) and they weren't for serious 2 channel listening. i've connected these to a Musical Fidelity M6i integrated (200 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms) and Harman Kardon 730 twin powered stereo receiver and they leave me dumbfounded. I have many high end speakers and have caught myself listening to these more lately. Not bad for the price during the pre-Christmas sale. Thanks Andrew Jones and Crutchfield.

I stumbled on the half-off sale for these speakers completely by accident. I was reconstructing a small sound system in one room of my house, and the speakers I salvaged from another old system were crap. I decided to buy a set as a semi-delayed Christmas present for me and my wife, and hit Crutchfield at the tail end of the sale. I checked the specs and reviews, and these Elacs blew everything else out of the water, and the price was unbeatable. I ordered them Christmas night (Wednesday), and got a call from Crutchfield the next morning (!) to confirm my address, and received them on Friday. They are INCREDIBLE for the money. Very compact, so they fit where I needed them to fit; astonishing bass for unpowered bookshelf speakers; and beautifully clear highs. I'm amazed by the super quick turnaround and by the reach-out from customer service when normal people are fighting a hangover. Great product, great service.

These are great speakers for the money. I also got on sale - a fantastic value. Wish I could give 4.5 stars. I bought these for my 24 yr. old son who has a good job and wanted to put together his first real music system. We assembled and auditioned a group of 4 passive and 2 powered designs on music, video games and as a 2.1 audio system for movies. We both decided that the passive designs with an integrated amp was our preferred set up both for sound quality, feature set, future growth, versatility etc. These were the second cheapest retail and THE cheapest price paid of the entire group but they rose right to the top as far as performance for the buck as tested. It really came down to a choice between these and another passive design which we both thought actually sounded a bit better but lacked low end and really needed a sub for his intended use and music style. Also at 4ohm they needed a better more powerful amp to drive well and they were more than twice the cost paid. For the allocated budget, he made what I feel is the right choice - Elac 2.0 B6.s speakers and with the money saved was able to get a very nice full featured 2-channel 50wpc class A/B integrated amp with Bluetooth capability and sub-out for the same money as some of the speakers alone. Sounds great! Smart kid. I have to thank Crutchfield who supplied 2 of the 6 samples. Great product selection, generous shipping/trial policies and awesome support.

Pros: Quality, full range, room filling sound. Front port so can be used in tight spaces or actually on a shelf if necessary. Price/performance value.

Cons: For the money paid? - None.

Excellent Speakers

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I'm currently using these with a Yamaha R-S202 stereo receiver for music listening. For the price, these are excellent speakers. Very clear, great soundstage, and well balanced. Initially I had paired them with an old home-theater-in-a-box receiver and was a bit underwhelmed by the low range, but I figured out that the receiver was trying to send the low range to a subwoofer that I didn't have connected (and it wasn't adjustable due to being a home-theater-in-a-box setup). So I bought the R-S202 stereo receiver and immediately heard the difference in bass. No need for a subwoofer, unless you really want it to thump. From low to high, these speakers sound very clear, natural, and balanced. A couple of things to note: I've read from multiple sources that these speakers like lots of power and I would have to agree. They sound really good with the R-S202, but the higher the volume the better they sound and I'll be looking to move up to a nicer amp in the future. Also, they are kind of plain looking, especially with the covers on. But I wanted great sound for a good price and they deliver perfectly on that.

Pros: Clarity, soundstage, value

Cons: None for the price

Could be your first and last speaker

My first "proper" stereo speaker (previously had some open box home theater speakers) and it may possibly be my last. Also had the matching open box subwoofer with my old speakers, no need for that any more! You get a speaker that images well, has good tight bass and is super clear. Voices sound like voices in the room, not a speaker playing the voice. The front port allows me to put the speakers close to the front wall. As an entry audiophile speaker, there is no downside, beside possibly the finish. I think the speaker looks good when up in the room, but there are more attractive speakers out there for sure. I mainly listen to rock, blues, country and bluegrass, and these speakers cross every box. I don't think you need a sub unless you want the deep, deep home theater rumble, but for music, it's perfect. All of this is coming from cheap sources and electronics, so I'm looking forward to upgrading those to get even better performance. Also putting them up on Pangea speaker stands improved their performance. Buy these now!

Pros: Clear, images well, easy to drive, great bass, easy placement

Cons: None

These speakers are fantastic. You cannot go wrong with these - I am rediscovering my music all over again. They are driven by a Marantz 2 channel integrated amplifier (40 x 2) and these things really deliver. I wish they came in white to match my decor and blend in to the white bookshelf a bit more, but we're using them without the black grill to give a slightly softer look.

These speakers are a steal at the price. Clear treble without spit or sizzle. Articulate midrange with gorgeous vocals. A decent soundstage with good image depth for the price. Bass is mostly missing but what there is plays without boom. Can play quite loud in 11x20 room but headbangers should look elsewhere. Get a pair or three for home theatre.

Pros: Articulate speakers with no glaring deficiencies.

Great soundstage, good bass - enough so that depending on your usage you may not need a sub. Very solid midrange and clear but not piercing highs. Great well rounded speaker. Using for music and movies/tv. Seem well built, nice heavy feel. Heavy enough that if you're not using stands you'll want to get some foam or at least silicone/rubber feet to separate them from the surface they're on - that cleared up the bass and midrange a lot. Not very pretty but that's secondary. Take the grills off if you can, seems like there's a lot of plastic material in the grill that can't be doing any good for the sound.

Pros: Soundstage, build quality, well rounded sound profile

Cons: Not the prettiest. No real cons.

The B6.2 is a significant improvement in refinement over the first generation B6. Lows are much less boomy, highs are much less shouty though still a little bright for my taste, resolution & coherence & off-axis performance is better, overall a smoother integration of all the elements. Were the original B6 3 times better than the Pioneer BS22? Maybe for some people, but I didn't think so. It was much easier to nit-pick. At the sale price the value is off the charts and for the money it is very difficult to find any faults. Bravo ELAC and Andrew Jones!

Pros: Great value for the money.

For the price these are great speaker. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the quality of sound coming from these budget speakers. Sound separation of voices and music is very good, nice sound stage, surprisingly good bass and clarity makes this a great speaker for the price you pay. These are easily good enough to be your front left and right mains in my opinion considering the size of your room of course. I actually purchased these for my daughter for her first set of speakers. She listened to them and was thrilled at the sound quality.

I picked these Elac speakers to replace a pair of Energy pro 4.5s. I wanted something a bit newer and more compact. I have not fully broken these in but have observed a couple of things. Of course my view is subjective. Initially, right out of the box, I was not impressed at all. I was ready to repack them and send them back. However after just a few days of listening my view has changed dramatically. These are good, in fact very good. Not great, but very good. I took note of a few things early on. These don't sound the least bit boxy. They are quite open for this price point. I feel that the speakers are as open as they can possibly be considering this. The treble is somewhat bright, however that could be a product of the amp. The base is very tight, lacking slightly in the very low frequencies. Not at all muddy or boomy. The separation is excellent and the sound stage is placed well. Placement can affect this of course. Where these shine the most for me so far is vocals. The 1k range on these rivals many speakers that I have heard for 10 times the price. I caught these on sale a Crutchfield for half off. If you can get these for anywhere near that price, grab them and hold a couple doors open until you need them

Pros: really good for a small investment These do a lot of things very well excellent vocals not fatiguing

Cons: binding posts are a bit difficult to work with possibly a tad bright up top

Great sound for price. Re-run your receivers equalizer for best sound

David from Woodbridge, CT on 11/29/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 is a very good compact speaker for the price. It's not perfect ... but few compact speakers are "perfect". Also, please remember to re-run your receiver's equalizer setup. It makes a big difference. I purchased my Onyko A/V receiver from Crutchfield several years ago, and it included the Audyssey equalizer and reference mic and a very easy-to-use setup. I needed to downsize my front speakers because of space restrictions. I hated to ... they were high-end Infinity 6 Kappa large floor standing 3-way speakers with a 10" woofer, 6" midrange, and the famous Infinity ribbon tweeter. This was combined with a 650w Polk 15" sub-woofer, Mirage center speaker, and Nanostat rear satellites. The 6 Kappas are excellent, and somewhat bright due to the ribbon tweeter, but were equalized using the Audyssey equalizer. When I first disconnected the 6 Kappas and plugged in the ELAC B6.2 ... I was very disappointed. I have the Celine Dion concert DVD "A New Day" which has a great sound 5.1 soundtrack ... and I saw the concert live in Las Vegas. Initially, the ELACs had no high end, and sounded muddy. Then I realized that I was playing the ELAC's using the 6 Kappa's equalization profile! The 6 Kappas are very bright and have a lot of base and the 6 Kappa equalizer profile actually turned down the high-frequency bands and much of the woofer. This was not appropriate for the ELAC B6.2. When I re-equalized for the ELAC it was night-and-day.

Pros: Good sound from compact speaker. Excellent voice reproduction and imaging.

Cons: No rubber feet (so just add them) Connectors could be recessed a bit more so banana plugs would not stick out of the back as much.

Not even close to original ELAC Debut

Dan from San Francisco, CA on 11/28/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Not as good as the original Debut. Treble is super forward, exposing bad recordings -- and making placement trickier. Bass ports on the front don't do much, when the tweeter has so many nodes. Bass is not nearly as forward as original. The best strength of the original Debut speakers was that they gave music appropriate weight, and punched way above their price point in terms of making it seem like the music has oomph. Taking measurements, the speakers had very little sound under 200hz. This leaves almost the lower two octaves of music out. Debut 2.0 speakers are more analytical and not as fun. If you liked the original Debut speakers, these are completely different. About me: Have designed OEM car stereos that have sold hundreds of thousands of units. Tested with iPhone XS --> Hafler power amp --> Debut 2.0 Mac Mini --> Emotiva XPS pre-amp --> Hafler power amp --> Debut 2.0 Mac Mini --> Peachtree Decco pre-amp --> McIntosh power amp --> Debut 2.0 Lack of bass was not due to lack of power!

Pros: Incredibly clear voices Present upper-midrange.

Cons: Surprising lack of bass - drops bottom two octaves Treble so present it exposes errors in a recording.

I have the original B6 and the B6.2 and I love them. They're absolutely not the same speaker, AJ redesign truly made a difference. The originals have a slightly more colored sound but they're marvelous speakers and when they first appeared they couldn't be beaten by anything in that price range. Enter the B6.2 and wow, it's amazing. The price point makes this a winner by any standard that's a fact. What's even better is that this is a richer, more detailed sounding speaker than it's older brother and it has an even better top end. The tweeter redesign is impressive. When listening to music with brass or string content, the clarity and detail that these speakers produce is just amazing. Surprisingly they also have a low end that's capable of punching percussion and deeper rumbles. They're a great all around speaker and when given some power they can produce room filling sound that's entirely musical. I use mine in an Atmos system so along with music they have to be capable of imaging and large amounts of movie sound effects. They're entirely up to the task of creating anything that the studios can throw at them. For the first time in my life I can watch a popcorn munching big adventure movie with explosions galore and never hear a moment of distortion. Then I can put on a movie that's nothing but dialogue and it's just as smooth and easily heard as though it were live. The vocal reproduction is deft and subtle and nothing like a the bigger hammer appr

Pros: Crystal clarity and punching bass. Works equally well in Atmos movies and in music. Gob-smacking volume when driven properly.

Cons: If a deeply beautiful cabinet with a piano type finish is important to you then keep looking. These aren't exceptional looking speakers. They're nicely finished but not show pieces. Not a con to my thinking but be aware that they aren't light and should be placed with good support.

I bought these Elacs for the spare bedroom stereo. I won't pretend I'm a golden ear professional reviewer who can describe how the Elac performs in different frequencies, in the highs, midrange, or lows, but I'll say that at first listen out of the box, I was very impressed with its clarity, tonal balance and bass output for a speaker selling at this price point. I switched back and forth between the Elacs and a my B & W 805S speakers. On CDs I was familiar with, the B & Ws had deeper bass, even though the Elac's spec claim a lower frequency spec. The 805s were more detailed and had more ambience in the midrange and highs. It's important to remember the Elacs were not broken in and that these were my first impressions straight out of the box. Also, the B & Ws cost almost 10 times, weighs twice as much (~ 13# vs. 26#, more bracing?), and were broken in. I will say that the Elacs are very impressive and a bargain for the price. If you Google search reviews on this model you will find several positive reviews saying that it's surprisingly a very good speaker. For the money, I think these would be really hard to beat. An excellent value and an affordable solid entry into the audiophile world. I'm basing my rating on these points.

Pros: Excellent value for the money. Sonically a well balanced speaker.

This is a well designed and impressive speaker. I had been looking for a set of two way speakers with woofers between 6 and 8 inches. Frustratingly, recent designs give you either a small bookshelf speaker badly in need of a sub, or tower speakers. I was looking for speaker that could perform across a wide range without needing a sub in many uses (granted a sub is always an improvement). My first desire was an 8 inch woofer. Very few of the newer bookshelf speakers can do that. These ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers produce a very full sound across the frequency range. The 6.5 inch woofers perform excellently. High, mid and low frequencies were quite balanced and pleasing. I have been using them with an older (read excellent sounding) receiver/amp in stereo music applications and for viewing TV. I was quickly impressed. I attempted using them without a break-in period and was surprised at how well the bass was produced (I did later sent time to ensure proper break-in). These can be used in stereo music with pleasing results or as part of a theater set-up. I have used them as the front speakers with pleading results. They would be excellent for side or rear surround. I am somewhat embarrassed to give a completely positive review, but the design is excellent and sound was exactly what I was seeking.

Pros: -Very well balanced sound -Bass exceeded my expectations -Minimal break-in -Very useful as main stereo speakers -Can be used in a variety of theater applications

Cons: -Connectors are a bit difficult to tighten for my fingers

Great sounding speakers for the money. Using them for my rear surrounds. Setting up surround sound system in my bedroom. Andrew Jones knows how to build great speakers.

Pros: Great sounding speakers. The price is right for a great sounding pair of speakers.

Cons: For this price none.

The reviews speak the truth! No question these are amazing speakers for the price. Good midrange, hi highs, and impressive bass for their size. Vocal clarity is descent. I had them in my smallish bedroom and they were more than adequate, and I hadn't bought the center or sub yet. Powered them with the denon 1400 no problem. However, (and I realize this is a big step up in price, not just for the UB5s (+$200) but also for the appropriate receiver/power supply) BUT if you can step up to the Uni-Fi UB5s like I did you'll notice the next level performance and wont look back. The veil that lingers over the entire soundstage of the B6.2s is lost and true Hi-Fi clarity and imaging is revealed with the UB5s. If you're a novice to home audio like myself with a limited budget ($1000-1200) for a system and are looking for some "future proofing", I think it's worth stepping up for the UB5s initially with the intent to upgrade the receiver later on. After all, given the quick improvements in home theater and the fact that power is getting cheaper every year, I'm sure I'll get another reciever/power supply before I need new speakers. One could also argue that for $1200 you could get a full Elac debut system, be done and still have amazing sound for the price. Either way I think you'd be happy, I just like to tinker (aka spend money). Huge thanks to Crutchfield for their patience and amazing, honest tech support. It's because of them I found the perfect system:)

I'm no audiophile, I was just looking for the best budget entry level speakers I could find. I'm driving them with an 80w receiver and find that it's plenty of power - they get uncomfortably loud at about 65% max volume. They sound nice and look nice.

Was blown away by there at the Newport Audio Show a couple of weeks ago. Purchased for a simple living room system and background music. These perform WAY over their price tag.

Pros: Superb full rich detailed sound

Cons: Nothing to report

Took about 25hrs to break in. They sounded very cupped n flat then they came alive. Highs especially. Bass is tight n tune full. But not wide n deep. Lived with vonshwiekers vr1s for 13 years. Love their all around sound. They are in my home theater n I have them in all around me. I was hoping to get as close to that sound with the elacs. Big price difference. So I didn't expect that same level of sound. But the elacs can't do low level presentation or play all music to my satisfaction. Hearing box n driver coloration especially with jazz guitar. Also with piano notes. But for the price they are killer speakers. If ur going to build a not so large home theater system n can't afford much more expensive speakers. Go with these. I'm going to have to spend 2 or 3 times more to get where I want to be. My 2 CH system is Belle's reference 150 v2 . tascam CD player, project pre boxs2 DAC. Signal cables n powe cords . power company AC conditioner.room 13 by 16.

Pros: Sound nice at high level with bright recording.

Cons: Low level sound is life less. Box n driver coloration with electric guitar or some piano notes.

Simply awesome speakers! I used them to replace my old Samsung HTIB front L/R speakers in my home theatre setup, along with a Denon X3400H AVR. The sound of rock music, classical, Blu-ray movies, spoken word -- really shines. I've definitely experienced less balanced & lower quality sound from much more expensive speakers (listen up, Bose lovers)! The Debut 2.0's are spot-on. I couldn't be happier!!! Big cheers to Andrew Jones & the folks at ELAC!

Pros: Well-balanced image Deep, rich bass Gorgeous sound! Great price point Solid, powerful design

Cons: Can't think of any!

DEFINITE buy- Should trump any other non-essential purchase.

You can stop looking for speakers. I've owned the B6 original. It's awesome. It has a laid back tweeter that I struggled with for a while because I'm used to sharper highs. Not quality wise- that was totally fine, just the freq. rolls off after 10K. So I've got the 2.0 now. AJ definitely listened to the critics because he put in this SWEET black rolled dome that extends to 35K? More importantly its NICE- and it goes low, somewhere around 800 to 1000 hz. Compared to the original this is a forward, brighter speaker. In general its a bit north of neutral for sure. Casual Clinical is the made up word that comes to mind. Mids and Lows are are good. Last generation had better low end, but it was also a PITB rear ported box. Mids better on this. Highs too x20. The imaging though. Dat imaging. It's the best I've owned. The waveguide on the tweeter makes a large sweet spot- you can definitely enjoy these off axis. When I got a whiff of the imaging these things were putting out I didn't think it was "good for the money". The imaging is good enough to make you unsure which speaker is projecting what into the center. A lot of time went into that engineering. Low volume playback is good; balanced bass retention good. High volume playback is a 10/10 without a price tag. No distortion. The room falls apart before the drivers do. These speakers need a LOT of power if you want it all. 100 watts per C for headroom. Buy them and

Pros: -The sound is excellent -The imaging is the best I've owned -Good bass response -Blends easily with a subwoofer (can be used stand alone) -Sophisticated, grown up aesthetic -High volume rock and roll speaker -Lower volumes you can be pretty critical. I've flattened the response and it sounds as it should. I like it as it as tho- minus the room EQ. It's easy enough to listen to forever. -Upgraded construction with bracing. -You become 46% cooler owning these.

Cons: There REALLY aren't any cons on this- even the compromises of both Debut series is spoken about by A. Jones. A possible issue for someone though would be that this speaker is more detailed than the previous gen. This means poorly recorded or mixed tracks will sound like absolute trash. You will hear the nastiness of modern mixing that's optimized for bluetooth speakers. 80s super aluminum treble boost? That's there too so be careful with that dial.

Superb Value, Excellent Sound

Outstanding speakers with particularly strong bass response. I have them mounted on brackets near the ceiling, right up against the wall. The front port allows them to really deliver the low-end and I have a subwoofer in my system, as well. Good mids with excellent clarity and very smooth top end. I use these speakers mostly for listening to my own mixes from my home studio and they have served me well for the month I've been using them. So far, so good!

Pros: Balanced with an impressive low-end.

Cons: None

Pros: Great sound reproduction, looks good, and can handle all genres.
