ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2 center channel speaker

ELAC's C6.2 center channel features thick cabinet walls that are internally braced for reduced resonance and improved stability.

An upgraded customer favorite

The original Debut Series center channels were a hit with our customers. The newly designed C6.2 has been re-engineered to get the most out of today's home theater receivers, leaving more power for your system's other speakers.

The C6.2 also sports an improved 1" silk dome tweeter for extended high-frequency response, along with a pair of updated 6-1/2" aramid-fiber woofers for smooth mids and punchy bass.

Custom-built for excellent sound

Fans of ELAC know that renowned speaker designer Andrew Jones has been at the helm of the Debut series since the beginning. Jones himself designs the magnets, woofers, crossovers, and enclosures for each Debut speaker, which allows for high-quality components without the added cost of outsourcing parts and supplies.

Product Highlights:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This center speaker is a great value and pairs nicely with the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers. It provides great detail in vocals and excels across the midrange as well. It's a bit larger than I expected but provides plenty of sound to justify its size. The Crutchfield representatives were very knowledgable and helpful as always. I highly recommend this center speaker!

Pros: Detail Good sound across all ranges Price/Value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Outstanding center channel, I am surprised of how clear and detailed it sounds. My main system is the Klipsch Reference line and even though the elac does not sound as loud as the Klipsch Reference RC-64 II, the elac can however rival it in how clear it sounds which is surprising considering one is much more expensive when on sale and the elac is considerably less. Highly recommend to anyone with a small or medium room. The new 2.0 elac speaker's sound has improved for home theater use with this 2.0 C6.2 center speaker. As far as stereo music goes I still prefer the original elac debut b5, b6, or Uni-Fi UB5 to the new ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 bookshelf speakers because the first three sound more natural and are not fatiguing (the b6.2 is a bit to bright sounding). If you already have any of these no need to upgrade the bookshlef speakers, in my opinion the big improvement on the 2.0 line is on the center channel.

Features

Two-Way Driver Design: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DC62 center-channel loudspeaker features a two-way driver design with a 1" tweeter, two 6.5" woofers, and a 2,200Hz crossover. Both the tweeter and woofer have been custom designed by Andrew Jones to deliver an exceptional audio experience that can't be delivered with typical off-the-shelf parts

  • Cloth Dome Tweeter w/ Wave Guide: The 1" silk soft-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround that improves power handling and a waveguide that improves directivity control by eliminating cabinet diffraction inherent in traditional box enclosures. The 1" silk soft-dome tweeter candle handle high frequencies up to 35,000 Hz.
  • Dual Woven-Aramid Fiber Woofers: The center-channel speaker features two 6.5" woven aramid-fiber cone woofers with rubber surround, oversized magnet, and vented pole piece. The revised shape of the aramid cone offers even greater stiffness and damping; far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.
  • Custom Crossover: A custom seven-element crossover (2,200Hz) with audio-grade components is implemented to ensure smooth transition between the tweeter and woofer.

Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DC62 center-channel loudspeaker uses a bass reflex cabinet with two front-firing flared ports for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. Moving the bass ports to the front of the cabinet means placement against walls or in bookshelves won't compromise performance. The cabinet is made of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) to strengthen and stiffen the cabinet, helping minimize unwanted vibrations that can discolor music or movie content. The MDF outer walls of the cabinet are covered with a black ash wood-grain vinyl finish. A detachable cloth grille is included.

5-Way Binding Posts: The Elac Debut 2.0 series DC62 center-channel loudspeaker is fitted with a set of 5-way binding-post terminals which will accept bare-wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single or dual).

Placement & Mounting Options: The center-channel speaker should be placed directly above or below the center of your TV screen. It can rest on a flat surface like a table top, shelf, or stand. Try to keep the center-channel as close to the same level as your front speakers for a more even soundstage. If this is not possible, you might try tilting the center speaker up (if too low) or down (if too high) to aim it wards the listening area. The speaker should be positioned approximately 1' to 2' away from boundaries, such as walls or corners.

Note: The center speaker does not include a bracket, key-hole slot, or threaded insert for wall-mounting. However, you can wall-mount the DC62 speaker using the PinPoint universal center-channel bracket (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

Elac Debut 2.0 Series: The Elac Debut 2.0 series family of loudspeakers consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (DF52/DF62), two bookshelf loudspeakers (DB52/DB62), two center-channel loudspeakers (DC52/DC62), a Dolby Atmos enabled loudspeaker (DA42), and two powered subs (S10EQ/S12EQ).

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

The Debut series of ELAC speakers have an excellent reputation and a neutral to warm sound, which will help mitigate the seemingly inherent "bright" sound of my Yamaha RX-V683 receiver. I purchased ELAC Debut 2.0 series bookshelf 6.2 speakers earlier this week and am pleased with how they sound. I suspect the sound will only improve as they see more use. [ Mark  Nov 24, 2018 ]
The price was outstanding for such good speakers [ Robert  Nov 19, 2018 ]
Owner of 2 pair of Debut 6 2.0 speakers, used in surround system and needed a better center than I presently own. I love the clarity and power of the Elac bookshelf models and the amount of sound they can produce when properly driven. Center channels need to be able to keep up and the content they produce in Surround is essential so I wanted one that could heft the load and I'm hoping this is the speaker to do that. Were excellent reviews and have been satisfied with Crutchfield service in the past. [ A  Oct 15, 2018 ]
