Been on the lookout for neutral speakers that are not boomy nor brittle and play my vinyl records in a transparent and natural way. It's been a chore of trial and error but finally landed on these and they do just that at a great price! They even make badly recorded albums sound ok and the good ones are just stellar with lots of clarity and detail.

The speakers sound amazing. I upgraded from an older set of polk audio's and they sound so much better in all ranges. The other plus is the slim size allowing them to fit in smaller spaces.

Excellent

Pros: Great highs and lows with a very natural sound. My sales REP suggested these speakers instead of another brand for the same price. They are very well made and in my opinion, a great value.

Cons: no cons.

I was looking to upgrade my B&W 602 s3 speakers that are great but a bit dated. Didn't want to spend a ton to do so I decided on these after I purchased some other ELAC products for another room in the house that I thought were terrific. Great design with the cabinet and excellent extension on the mid and upper ranges , I like my speakers on the bright side. They were on sale so that made it even better. I wasn't expecting much on the bottom end but it isn't bad (is to be expected for 5" drivers)and I felt they needed to be pushed a little to deliver. I use the sub for movies but these and very musical and do all genres pretty well and to me the crossovers are at the right ranges. These don't need a lot of power and I got the matching center channel in this series and I'm really happy. Tower spikes were included. That was a nice touch. These are a superb value that perform well beyond their price point and they sound better than other towers I listened to around town that cost a lot more. Only reason I didn't give these a 5 star is because the foot pads were loose, but there may be a reason I'm unaware of. You can't bi amp these but they are efficient and have clever design. I highly recommend these for moderate listeners and audiophiles alike.

Pros: Excellent design Great drivers Frequency range

Cons: Delivered with loose foot pads

Elac Debut 2.0 F5.2 In my retirement search for audio nirvana and to be led back to the dayze of my youth and my performing life, I have decided I need a pair of reasonably priced good bookshelf speakers, a nice floorstander and a pair of Maggie's. In my search I tried quite a few different brands. Most were pretty good. Some ripped my ears out, some were too soft. I'm sounding like Goldilocks. I tried Klipsch, Yamaha, Dayton, B&W, Dali, Q Acoustics, Sony, Polk, Kef, Emotiva, Focal on and on. Elac. The debut 2way pieces were quite good. The unifi boxes were more detailed with more presence with the nice 3 way design and aluminum woofers. A dedicated Mid range speaker gives more realism in voices, piano, drum snare and Tom Toms and the body of electric guitars. Mid range is where a lot of the fun is. So I thought I'd try the 3 way debut floorstander since I had decided on the Unifi Reference for my bookshelf. (although it's really too big to be called a bookshelf, it's a reference monitor that demands a regal perch). The Debut double woofers can produce enough bass to go without a sub on most everything. Sub may be needed on older recordings and action movies for big bangs. Hard to beat any of the elacs for all around good performance. Unless you're totally into metal. Might wanna go with Klipsch.

Pros: Good mids Good bass Good soundstage Handsome symmetrical design Excellent for small to midsize room Best at this price point

Cons: None

The cross over occasionally trips up causing Tweeter crackles trying to play to low. Other than that it provides a good center image and isn't what I would call a soft.

Big room... 24' x 36', vaulted ceilings... lots of glass. Horrible room for listening to music. A pair of these, along with the ELAC 200w Sub, pushed by the EA101EQ-G amp, FILLS this room with sound. Awesome bass, sharp, clear midrange, bright, crisp highs... wide soundstage. Andrew Jones had his hands all over these, and it shows. Elac's self analyzing EQ and Sub fader in their EA101EQ-G amp is excellent. Better than anything I've seen at many times the price.

From the challenging order placement using multiple pay sources, amazing 2 day delivery during peak holiday on line shopping, to the great sound, Crutchfield and ELAC rate 5 stars... I had purchased the debut 1.0 bookshelf speakers a few years back based on the outstanding reviews and I am very happy with them. They have been moved to my rear surrounds with the purchase of the towers. Great sound and great sale price. Miles Davis "Flamingo Sketches" never sounded better..

Pros: Great all around speakers for HD with good bass Great stereo for jazz

Cons: none for my ears

Purchased the Elac Debut 2.0 F5.2 speakers after listening to Dalquist bookshelf speakers for way too many years. Bought the Elac's because they are slim and fit my room nicely. Put on the new Abbey Road and was very pleased by the crisp highs and clarity of the speakers. I highly recommend these affordable speakers and have been happy with the Crutchfield experience. Thanks Guys!

budget price, great sound!

Crutchfield customer from San Mateo, CA on 2/20/2020

Verified employee review (What's this?)

These speakers are awesome. For this price point, I gave them a try. The manual for placement is somewhat misleading. I started with 1 foot away from back wall and toe in towards listening position. That gave me overly bright treble as some review article mentioned and lacking bass. As I experimented, placing the speaker 8-9 inches from the back wall and slightly toe in gave me good bass and image. The treble is calmed. great job Andrew!

Pros: When correctly positioned, balanced sound and image.

Cons: - sensitivity is a bit of low - need careful placement - no choice of color, the debut reference has more modern look.

I just upgraded after about 15 years. I guess my old ears aren't as bad as I thought. What a difference. Clean, full music. I also picked up an Elac center speaker for surround when I want to use it. I have a new Yamaha RX-V485 receiver driving the speakers and added a small Yamaha Sub to join the party. My surrounds on my 5.1 system are Polks. It's great to hear music the way you should hear music. I'm listening to CD's again. That should say it all. And everything about Crutchfield is phenomenal. Class act, knowledgable and caring. Can't do much better than this. Thanks from a real happy customer.

Pros: Clarity, tone, fun to listen to.

Cons: None.

ELAC does it again

Roger from Sun City, AZ on 10/9/2018

The original F5's were, and are still, fantastic, but I had to know and hear what the F5 2.0 was all about. After all, how could the first F5's sound even better? So, I had to find out. I am so amazed that Elac could make an already super speaker sound even better, but they did. The build quality is better, the sound quality is a tad more refined and the high end is more spacious. I cannot use a subwoofer where these are and I find that I don't need one anyway, but that is my situation, yours may be different. I don't give out recommendations freely, but the Elac F5 2.0's I do recommend , not only for the cost, but the performance. You will need some power to drive these and I find that my Marantz 100 watt amp does just fine.

Pros: Sonic performance is outstanding. Small footprint for those with space considerations.

Cons: None that I can hear

Audio bliss on a budget - can't go wrong

Thad from Stanley, NC on 9/29/2018

I bought these with fairly low expectations given the price, but am now completely blown away by these. I use them in a family room with 80% home theater and 20% music. This is probably the best market for these. Though, as great as they are at home theater, what I got when I hooked these up and played 2.0 music for the first time was an eye-opening experience of just how good home audio could be. I've owned and auditioned some nice speakers in the past, but never would have imagined a music experience as awesome as this, at this price. Everything is so clear and smooth. Response is fairly flat. Music representation is accurate and tight with great instrument separation. Listening for long periods of time is effortless and non-fatiguing. Imaging and soundstage are amazing, particlarly on hi res tracks. At times I found myself checking whether I had a surround mode activited. I've found that you really need to keep these at least 18" from the back wall for best results. Folks recommend that you place these closer to the back wall for more bass, but you'll lose soundstage rapidly by doing that. Better to pull them out and adjust your eq for bass, or purchase a subwoofer. Dispersion is wider than I expected, so off-axis listening is great. Some reviewers of the first Debut complained of highs being too soft, but I don't find this to be the case with this version and I tend to prefer brighter speakers. They do seem a bit bright, but perhaps what I'm hearing is clarity.

Pros: Speakers punch well above their price point. Even at full price, these are well worth it. Live like an audiophile without buyer's remor$e. Perfect for mixed home theater and music use. Attractive design - wife approved.

Cons: Comes with carpet spikes, but no floor disks or alternative feet for hard floors. No bi-amp. These speakers are very accurate. As such, they will expose low quality components and sources. Bad mp3s will sound bad, inadequate receiver/amp will sound inadequate, etc.

I have owned a lot of speakers thru the years. I will say for the money you cant beat these floor tower speakers. The lows are very awesome and the mids come thru great. The tweeter handles the clear loud highs very well.

Pros: Very loud and clear with precise sound from music or movies!

Cons: If was going have pick just be cabinet not real wood but that why they cost less. Sound is top of the line
