About the PAPAGO TPMS100US

Tired of getting out the gauge?

Okay, I'll admit it — I'm an airhead (no pun intended) when it comes to checking on tire pressure. If you're anything like me, then PAPAGO's TPMS100US tire pressure monitor system is just the thing to keep you more in tune with your older car's needs, and it'll spare you the embarassment of having a "concerned" stranger tell you to put some air in your tires. Oh yeah, and the PAPAGO system will help you improve your vehicle's fuel efficiency, lengthen the life of your tires, and minimize suspension wear — so there's that.

How does it work?

PAPAGO includes everything you need for a straightforward, quick installation. The TPM 100US system uses four sensors, which are easily affixed onto each tire's air valve in place of the factory cap, to communicate with the compact receiver and display unit, which plugs into your vehicle's 12-volt power source. The receiver unit also features a USB port for conveniently charging devices.

Easily stay aware of pressure and temperature

Once you start your car and exceed 9 MPH, the TPM 100US receiver will display the pressure of all four tires at once. Corresponding tire temperature is only a button press away. If tire pressure or temperature is abnormal, you will be alerted with a series of beeps. Beep sequence corresponds to the nature of the warning: leakage warning, abnormal pressure, high temperature, sensor disable, and sensor low battery. PAPAGO also lets you customize low and high tire pressure settings.

Note: the lifetime of each sensor battery is 1-2 years. Each sensor requires one CR1632 battery.

PAPAGO TPMS100US

I installed this product on my '93 Ford pickup. Works just as advertised. As far as installation, the manual omits the part about installing the batteries in each of the 4 sensors. Opening the sensors to insert the battery is also a tricky situation. After using the plastic 'wrenches' to unscrew the top of the sensor from the base, it is best to insert a fingernail and thumbnail between the top and the base and slide your fingernail around to the other side while keeping your thumbnail in the slot on the other side. in order to pull the two apart. Also make sure you don't screw the top and base together with the clear plastic seal protruding as this could cause air to leak out.

Pros: provides a continuous display of tire pressure for all 4 wheels.

Cons: opening the sensor to install the battery can be a difficult task. Fortunately you won't have to do that often.

title caught my attention right away

The tpms system works about like I thought it would. It installed easily and seems to work okay so far. I figured out how to change the pressure units from Bar to PSI, but I could not figure out how to change the temperature units from Centigrade to Fahrenheit. When I sought technical help, there was none to be found. I have a bad feeling this is going to be one of those bad purchases that gets tossed in the garbage after a few weeks. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Pros: easy to install

Cons: Support on this system not readily available

Good product, awkward set up

The product works well and is a good value...however the setup procedure for the sensors to wireless connect to the display was an awkward process that took several tries to get it right. Once it is set up it works great. The sensors on the tire valve are kinda big , about the size of stack of 5 nickels. I give the product an A- overall.

Pros: Good value

Cons: Awkward set up

Features

Tire Pressure & Temperature Monitoring System: The PAPAGO! GoSafe TPMS 100 is a tire pressure & temperature monitoring system created to minimize chances of accidents, improve fuel efficiency, lengthen the life of tires, and minimize suspension wear on cars that do not already have a TPMS. The tire sensors inspect the pressure and temperature of each tire and send the information to a receiver, a device that inserts into your vehicle's 12-volt cigarette lighter port. When an abnormal change in pressure or temperature occurs, the receiver beeps and specifies which tire is impaired, alerting the driver to pull over.

RF Wireless Technology: Empowered by RF wireless technology, the GoSafe TPMS 100 constantly monitors and displays real time tire pressure and temperature through an LED color display. When the vehicle starts, the sensors automatically and wirelessly transmit each of the tire's pressures and temperatures to the receiver.

Smart Notification System: The GoSafe TPMS 100 is equipped with a smart notification system that will alert the driver when the tire pressure is too low (lower than 1.8bar / 26 psi) or too high (over 3.2 bar/ 46 psi) or the tire temperature is too high (exceeds 149°F/65°C).

4 Tire Sensors: The TPMS 100 continuously monitors each tire's pressure and temperature through 4 Sensors and send the information wirelessly the receiver inside the car. One Sensor will need to be installed to the valve-stem of each tire (Sensors are labled "FL", "FR", "RR", and "RL". You will need to remove the valve-stem cap and replace it with the Sensor using the included hexagon nuts and wrench. Each sensor is powered by a CR1632 3V battery. 4 batteries are included and will need to be installed using the included two-piece battery tool.

  • TPMS Range: 0bar ~ 3.5bar / 0psi ~ 51psi
  • Margin of Error: +/- 0.1 bar / +/-1 psi (Tire Pressure), +/-2° (Tire Temperature)
  • Battery Life: 1 to 2 years (will vary by vehicle usage)
  • Dimensions: 0.875" (diameter) x 0.8125" (deep)

12-Volt Receiver: The wireless Receiver, with its simple and easy-to-read LCD screen, displays Tire Pressure or Tire Temperature for all 4 tires. The Receiver will also alert the driver immediately if the pressure or temperature of a tire is abnormal according to the Sensor, specifying which of the tires is affected. The Receiver plugs directly into your vehicle's 12-volt/cigarette lighter socket for power.

  • Input Voltage: 12V (+/-3V)
  • Standby Current: <35mA
  • Dimensions: 1.4375" (diameter) x 2.125" (deep)

USB Charging Port: The GoSafe TPMS 100's Receiver is equipped with a USB-A port (5V/0.5A) that allows you to charge other devices (like your smartphone) at the same time, so you will not lose your 12-volt lighter socket when installing the GoSafe TPMS100.

DIY Installation: The PAPAGO! GoSafe TPMS100 allows for quick DIY installation. No dismantling of tires or professional installation needed.

Q
Does this have the range to install on a trailer to monitor from inside of the tow vehicle? Also, I'm assuming the TPM's are water tight - I am thinking of adding to a boat trailer, so they would be submerged to a depth about 2-3 feet twice each summer weekend. Distance from tow vehicle power to rear tires on the trailer is approximately 30 feet. Thanks!

I've looked through all the information we have on this product for the maximum range the RF signal can carry and still work with the receiver part, and for any details on submerging the pressure valves. I cannot find any mention of this in our information and came up empty on their site too. I suggest calling Papago on 844-972-7246 to see if they even have those specs My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
