To quote a previous review: " Crutchfield's database claimed it was not compatible with my 2013 BMW X5 hifi without pillar speakers (in my case, 2019 BMW X1). Thankfully the manufacturer's website claimed it works at 100% plug and play. I've always trusted Crutchfield on these matters but I gotta call you on this one. I installed in under an hour. Also the price from the mfg. website is significantly lower. Of course, Crutchfield's still my go to source for all thinks electronic!
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: No Mac software available.

This is what I have been looking for all along. Unfortunately Crutchfield's database claimed it was compatible with my 2013 BMW X5 hifi without pillar speakers. Thankfully the manufacturer's website claimed it works. 100% plug and play. It is very slightly wider the then stock amp so the tightening screw does not go in all the way. But it holds firm. This amp is a dream for those who wish to tweak their sound to perfection. Free software along with freely available sound profiles makes for getting the sound you want out of your speakers.
Pros: All settings available in software to tweak every bit of the sound. Gains, crossovers, sub settings, every channel can be tweaked in groups or individually.
Cons: Only 2 presets can be stored at a time. Also you have to go to the truck to change the setting. Although I believe there is an accessory with a touchscreen that you can purchase to use along with this that can be installed in the front. For the cost of this thing it should have just been included.

Fantastic improvement in sound quality. Put this into my '14 F30 (328i) and I finally have decent sound. Very highly recommended.

Just to clear things up, this amp WILL WORK in BMW 2 series with the Harmon/Kardon (HK) audio system. I suspect it won't work in BMW 3 series and higher cars with HK audio because in those cars the amplifier is connected to the MOST bus through digital "fiber optics". The 2 series and lower cars with HK audio have amplifiers that are connected through differential balanced lines (analog). With that being said, I installed this amp in my 2018 BMW M2 with no problems. Installation took all of 20 minutes. Tuning of the amp took way longer than that. The Audiotec Fischer website has generic sound files for this amp; they are terrible for the 2 series HK system. You can use them as a base line, but you should expect to spend a good amount of time with a laptop PC and a calibrated mic. I used a MiniDSP UMIK-1 microphone for the system tuning. Once I got the tune to where it sounded decent to me, I noticed the soundstage had risen up from my left knee to centered right in front of me on the dash. The overall system sound is much better but this amp will reveal how bad the OEM HK speakers are. I will be replacing those soon. I didn't give this amp 5 stars for a couple of reasons- First, the DSP software is only available for PC, no Mac software. Second, bass enhancement effects are tied to specific amp output channels; channels F and G. Channel H is pre-amp output that could be used for a sub; but no bass enhancements.
Pros: Perfect fit for BMW M2 Fully adjustable DSP
Cons: No Mac software Limited audio effects control
