Features

Overview: AtlasIED SM-Series surface mount speakers are designed for commercial, professional, and residential applications. These weather-resistant, full-range speakers can be used indoors or outdoors, in monaural or stereo configurations, and can be used in 70.7V/100V or 8Ω applications. Each SM-series speaker comes with a C-shaped mounting bracket.

Construction: The Strategy Series surface-mount loudspeakers feature weather-resistant construction for indoor or outdoor use year round. The talc-impregnated, injection-molded polypropylene enclosure is UV-resistant to withstand fading and breakdown. The speaker cabinet also withstands 100 hours of salt spray testing (per ASTM B117). The enclosure features powder-coated aluminum grilles with all-brass hardware inserts. The included heavy duty steel C-bracket is Zinc Chromate-plated and powder-coated, and is color-matched to the enclosure. The SM63T-WH carries an IP33 Ingress Protection rating.

Paintable: The enclosure and grille can be painted to match your décor, if desired. The cabinets should be primed with two coats of spray primer before painting with oil or water-based house paint or spray paint. The grille should be removed before painting with two thin coats of paint (primer not needed). Care should be given not to clog the grille holes with paint.

Drivers: The Atlas Sound SM63T-WH is equipped with a 1" Ferrofluid-cooled composite dome tweeter, and a highly-efficient 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer. The drivers are crossed over at 2.7kHz (12dB/octave). The speakers provides a full 120° horizontal and 120° vertical coverage (120˚ conical). The PolyGuard High Frequency Circuit provides protection to the tweeter from damaging transient signals.

Wiring Options: The SM63T-WH has a two-pole barrier strip terminal with a weather-resistant cover. The barrier strip can accept spade connectors or bare wire. For runs up to 500', 18-gauge wire is recommended, 16-gauge wire for 500'-1000' runs, and 14-gauge for runs over 1000'. The speaker is equipped with line matching transformers, requiring an amplifier capable of driving a 70.7V/100V line. Tap settings include:

• 70.7V: 4W, 8W, 16W, 32W
• 100V: 8W, 16W, 32W
• 8Ω: Transformer bypass

Speaker Placement: The speaker is wedge-shaped, which provides a number of placement options. For outdoor use, the speaker can be placed under an eave or other protective overhang. Indoors, you can use the natural boundary effect to increase the overall output. When you mount the speaker against one surface (wall), the boundary effect will increase the output by 3dB. Mounting the speaker against two surfaces (two walls or a ceiling and wall), the output increases by 6dB. Mounting the speaker against three surfaces (in a corner near a ceiling), the output will increase by 9dB. The bottom of the speaker cabinet is flat, and 90° to the speaker baffle, allowing you to place the speaker on a shelf. You can also place the speaker horizontally in any placement option. C-brackets are included for mounting.
