About the JBL Concert Edition Premium Audio Upgrade

Crank up your F-150's sound

JBL designed their Concert Edition audio upgrade package so you can put high-fidelity, concert-worthy sound inside your Ford F-150 SuperCrew without having to cut a single wire or change anything about your interior's appearance. This upgrade replaces the factory front and rear speakers with high-quality JBL models, and adds two 8-inch JBL subwoofers as well. An 8-channel amplifier with digital signal processing provides your music with the power and tone customized for your F-150's interior.

JBL Concert Edition

The dual 8" enclosure under your rear seat punches out some powerful bass.

Stealthy install

JBL's illustrated instructions clearly show how to "drop in" and plug up the new speakers and wiring harnesses that integrate the Concert Edition upgrade into your vehicle's factory system. The sub enclosure and amplifier assembly fit out of the way under the rear seat, perfectly positioned to provide power and bass for your music.

Note: For the Extended Cab application, the subwoofer will extend beyond the seat by about 2".

Pre-tuned for your Ford's interior space

JBL engineers measured the physical and acoustical properties of the SuperCrew cab's interior and modeled the Concert Edition's sound equalization curves and speaker time alignments so everyone inside will hear premium sound, wherever they sit. All the components — speakers, amp, sub, and wiring harnesses — fit perfectly in position and simply plug into the factory system. The only installation tools required are a 7 mm wrench, a panel tool, and a wire worm or large tie wrap.

Important Note: This upgrade package will only work with the 2015-up Ford F-150 SuperCrew and Extended Cab trucks with the basic, 4-speaker system. It will not work in a F-150 with the premium (Sony) sound system.

Features

Overview: JBL's VSSF150 replaces the front and rear factory speakers, adds two subwoofers in a custom enclosure, adds an amplifier to power the entire system, and includes all the necessary wiring for installation in select 2015-2019 full size Ford Super Crew and SuperCab pickups. (The subwoofer enclosure extends approximately 2" beyond the rear seat in the SuperCab.) Please enter your truck information to confirm fit.

Front Speakers: Two JBL GT7-86 speakers are mounted in custom Ford brackets and have Ford wiring harnesses attached, so they mount without any modification and the factory wiring plugs in.

Rear Speakers: Two JBL GT7-6 speakers are mounted in custom Ford brackets and have Ford wiring harnesses attached, so they mount without any modification and the factory wiring plugs in.

Subwoofer Enclosure: The custom enclosure is loaded with two 8" subwoofers and mounts under the back seat.

Amplifier: The amp is mounted to subwoofer enclosure, thus hidden under the rear seat. Three plugs on the end of the factory integration harness connect directly the amp; no other wiring is needed.

Wiring: Two custom wiring harnesses are included, an 11' power harness and a 17' factory integration harness. The power harness is routed from the battery (in the engine bay) to the center console, where it connects to the factory integration harness. The factory integration harness is routed from the radio location to the JBL amplifier, mounted on the subwoofer enclosure. The factory integration harness has custom plugs on both ends, so no factory wires need to be cut or spliced.

40 OUT OF 53 REVIEWS POSITIVE OF 4-5 STAR, APPEARS TO BE A GREAT VALUE TIME WILL TELL. HAD A QUOTE FOR ADDING A HIDEAWAY SUB AND REPLACING DOOR SPEAKERS AT OVER 700, AND A FULL BLOWN CUSTOM UPGRATE AT OVER $3,000. DECIDED TO BE CHEAP AND GIVE IT A GO [ PATRICK  Aug 03, 2019 ]
A
Been wanting a sub in my truck for a year. Only found two aftermarket options: JBL and Kicker. I like the Kicker behind the back seat better but it was $700 while JBL under the seat was 399. Occasionally I use the space under the seat so I didn't buy anything until Crutchfield had refurbished JBL's at 80 dollars off plus I got another $25 off for slow boat shipping. I was originally hesitant due to the price. I am interested in trying it at the sale price. I liked the fact that it is plug and play. I upgraded the system on my 2013 F150 and it was a bit more involved. [ Sean  Sep 20, 2018 ]

Q
My 2017 F-150 has a power inverter under the passenger side back seat, will the box with the subwoofers & amplifier still fit under there?7
[ Jayce  Sep 10, 2019 ]
6 answers
A
Yes, this fit in my 2017 F250 that also has the power inverter. They share the same cab interior. If you have The under seat storage, you'll have to remove that so this box will fit
[ BRANDON  Sep 11, 2019 ]
A
No the subwoofer fits like a glove. No room.
[ JESUS  Sep 11, 2019 ]
A
Yes it will
[ Jose  Sep 10, 2019 ]
A
sorry I don't know the answer but my guess would be no. I put mine in a 2017 F250 without a poser inverter and as I recall it took all the space under the back seat. Sorry I cant be more help.
[ Mark  Sep 10, 2019 ]
A
Not sure I don't have a inverter
[ Adam  Sep 10, 2019 ]
A
Yes it will still fit just fine.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

I can't see how this could be related to the speakers within the vehicle, possibly a wire got lose while connecting to the head unit? Currently have installed in my 18 crew and love it
[ James  Jun 22, 2019 ]
A
I dint installed yet the upgrade, based on your question I will have a look over the reviews, I don't want to generate a problem due the installation but, I don't see any reason for the disconnection related with the Speaks.
[ JAIME  Jun 21, 2019 ]
A
Ive had this I my 16 for over a year and xmas has been fine.
[ Rollie  Jun 19, 2019 ]

Q
Does this system work with the 3 1/2 center channel speaker and the 1 in tweeters??
[ Frank  Jun 01, 2019 ]
5 answers
A
I believe this disabled them.
[ Brett  Jun 02, 2019 ]
A
I don't hace center speaker
[ FRANCISCO  Jun 02, 2019 ]
A
My 2018 STX does not have the front center channel speaker, but does have the tweeters in the lower grab bar post. My system worked fine plug-and-play
[ David  Jun 02, 2019 ]
A
The stock center speakers and tweeters continue to work fine. I replaced my center speaker because it was so easy to get to. The system definitely sounds better than stock and doesn't distort at 1/2 volume like the stock speakers did. At $400 it is a steal..
[ RICHARD  Jun 01, 2019 ]
A
Yes the other speakers still work like normal.
[ BRIAN  Jun 01, 2019 ]
Q
Does this cut out like the kicker system with 2.7 ecoboost engines with start stop?
[ jesse  May 30, 2019 ]
9 answers
A
sorry I cannot say for sure but based on the wiring of the system I would say there is no interruption in audio when the engine turns off.
[ Mark  May 31, 2019 ]
A
The system is wired right to the battery with supplied wire. It never cuts out with the stat- stop system. Works great and sounds almost as good as the old Sony system.
[ Brian P. Vanden  May 31, 2019 ]
A
Yes it works if you have the 8" screen
[ GREG  May 31, 2019 ]
A
no it does not - was an upgrade to stock sound but I did not like that it did not fit completely under the back seat
[ glen  May 30, 2019 ]
A
No it doesn't it doesn't cut off the power just cut off the engine has no effect in the electronics
[ JESUS  May 30, 2019 ]
A
I have the JBL installed on a 2017 F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost and it stay on during the stop/start cycle.
[ New User  May 30, 2019 ]
A
No it does not! I have it on my 3.5 Ecoboost with auto stop/start and it keeps playing right on through!
[ Jacob  May 30, 2019 ]
A
No it doesn't cut out at all.
[ Arturo  May 30, 2019 ]
A
This system doesn't cut out at all. It performs like it was installed from the factory. I have had zero issues with it and for sure sounds better than the Sony systems that's installed with the upper end Fords.
[ Jason  May 30, 2019 ]
Q
Will this work with the Sync 3 stereo?
[ Larry  Mar 12, 2019 ]

I installed this in a 2017 F-250 with the 8" sync screen (without the Sony package) and it worked fine.
[ BRANDON  Mar 12, 2019 ]

Yes, integration is why I purchased this kit. That way my steering wheel controls and touch screen all work.
[ Tommy  Mar 12, 2019 ]
A
It worked fine on my 2015 F150 without the Sony radio. It dose have Sync. Installation took about 4 hours and was not hard. I will probably get one for my next truck.

Can this go behind the seat instead of underneath?
[ David  Jan 04, 2019 ]

A
Not on supercab. This product is a waste of money.
[ Clint  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
No it's a tight squeeze and you got the Jack back there
[ JESUS  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
No. It is formed to fit under seat and is too large to go behind the seat.
[ Dan  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
No, the subwoofer enclosure is designed to mount in factory supplied locations under the rear seat. There is not enough room to behind the rear seat for this enclosure to fit.
[ Jeremy  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
No try that my self no space
[ GREG  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
No, I literally takes up the entire area under the rear seat in a supercrew.
[ Nathan  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
No; it is very large and designed around the contours under the seat. I love the sound, but I hate that I lost my under seat storage.
[ New User  Jan 04, 2019 ]
A
I'm sorry I wish I could help. But I still haven't put mine in yet still in box.
[ ANDREW  Jan 04, 2019 ]
Q
Can this go behind the seat instead of underneath? That is where all my gear is stored.
[ David  Jan 04, 2019 ]
10 answers
A
No. The subwoofer box is molded specifically to fit under the seat and bolts to the seat brackets.
[ MARC  Jan 10, 2019 ]
A
No, it is specifically built for mounting under the rear seat.
[ Corey  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
No. It's designed to fit under the seat
[ Mitchell  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
No it can only go under the seat unfortunately. And you loose all that storage space.
[ Kyle  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
I have a super cab super duty and it will only fit under the seat. Not sure about crew cab, but would assume the same. Also if it would fit behind the seat you would have to find a way to mount it so it would not rattle!
[ Adam  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
Highly doubtful. It takes up some valuable real estate. But I believe it was worth it.
[ Kyle  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
Sub unit is one solid piece. I doubt it would fit.
[ Hilary  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
No, it's custom shaped to go under the seat. I don't think there is any way to modify it to go behind the seat.
[ James  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
I don't see how this could go behind the seat of my F150, there's no room behind the back seats. It fits perfectly under.
[ Douglas J.  Jan 09, 2019 ]
A
No. It definitely must go under the seat. BTW: It fits like OEM and sounds great!
[ Stephen  Jan 09, 2019 ]
Q
Do you know why this won't work in a 2013 F150 Super Crew?
[ jengel  Oct 07, 2018 ]
3 answers
A
They performed a redesign for the 2016 year, I think, and that included the rear interior.
[ Jeremy  Oct 07, 2018 ]
A
Not a 100% but it may be the harness connector may be different from the one they going to send you take a close look at the one they show on the pic also check speaker side on the door
[ GREG  Oct 07, 2018 ]
A
I had a 2010 F150 before this one and I think maybe the speaker connections might be different. I do not know about the hookups on the radio side. Going from memory here so take it for what it is worth. The system is perfect for me as I wear hearing aids and the music is so much clearer. I think it is worth the trouble to make it work though. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck, George

Q
Will this JBL Concert Edition work on my 16' XL with Factory 4" screen? Should I also replace the head unit or will this work fine with the stock 4" head unit?
[ Jason  Mar 23, 2018 ]

A
It will work the whole system is plug and play
[ William  Apr 03, 2018 ]
A
I have a 2016 XLT 4 door with the 4" screen and this speaker system works fine.
[ Craig  Apr 02, 2018 ]
A
I have a 2016 XLT with the factory 4" screen and this works perfectly. The connectors for the sub and amp are made to fit the factory stereo so if you plan to replace the head unit you would need to rewire the connection from the sub.
[ Bruce  Apr 02, 2018 ]
A
This is made to work with stock headunit so it should work fine
[ Jeff  Apr 02, 2018 ]

Q
First question, will this system be compatible in the 2018 f150? Secondly, does the JBL have the same issue with cutting out on start-up like the Kicker Soundstage with the auto stop/start feature? Starting in 2018 almost all f150 engines have this feature.
[ Larry  Aug 21, 2017 ]

A
I own a 2018 Ford F150 XL STX SuperCrew style and I just installed the JBL Cencert Edition. Perfect fitment with all speakers and exact plug n play. Only thing I had to do was manually hook up power wires to battery n splice the power cables together in cab. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone. Sounds great and the bass is just enough. FYI, this is for factory head unit. Mines 8"
[ Jason  Oct 11, 2018 ]
A
I have a 2017 F150 with the stop-start feature (3.5 EcoBoost). The stop/start has no effect on this system; it stays on throughout the cycle. I have no idea about 2018 fitment.
