About the PowerDrive PD3000
Use household devices in your vehicle
Use household devices in your vehicle
You want to use your household AC-powered devices in your vehicle, but you've run into a basic problem: cars, vans, and trucks use DC power. PowerDrive's power inverters convert your vehicle's DC power to AC power, allowing you to run your household devices from your vehicle's power supply.
3000 watts of continuous AC power
PowerDrive's PD3000 inverter connects directly to your vehicle's battery, delivering up to 3000 watts of continuous AC power. You can run and charge a variety of items, from phones and laptops to refrigerators, toaster ovens, and microwaves. The inverter features four 3-prong AC outlets, one USB power port, and a USB-C power port, so you can charge or run multiple devices simultaneously. Safety features include overheating and overload protection, plus high/low voltage shutoff. A built-in voice alarm lets you know when there's a problem so you can attend to your devices.
Built-in Bluetooth® for remote control
The PD3000's Bluetooth capability allows the inverter to connect to Android and iOS smartphones. PowerDrive's free app lets you remotely access features and settings. The inverter also features a removable control panel with a 12' cord which allows you to locate the control panel away from the inverter.
Note: When connecting this inverter to your vehicle's battery, you should use suitable power and ground cables of the shortest possible length — see the Owner's Guide for recommended gauges. PowerDrive offers their own installation kit suitable for this inverter, too. The PD3000 includes 3-foot cables.

Product Research
Features
Overview: The PowerDrive PD3000 Power Inverter takes the DC power from your vehicle's battery and delivers up to 3000 watts of AC power to four 3-prong outlets, and DC power to dual USB ports. It has a removable control panel with a 3-character digital display and 12' remote extension. You can also pair the inverter with your smartphone via Bluetooth and the PowerDrive app for remote control and monitoring the battery voltage, output power, and inverter temperature. The inverter connects directly to the battery via the included power cables. Its dimensions are 13-15/16"W x 4-1/4"H x 12-3/4"L (14.0" including the mounting rails), and it weighs just over 9-1/2 pounds.
AC Outlets: The PD3000 features four 3-prong standard North American AC sockets. The outlets are rated at 115V AC, 58-61Hz on the Modified Sine Wave. The inverter provides up to 3000 watts of continuous power and 6000 watts surge power. It operates at >88% max efficiency and >84% efficiency in Full Load. With no devices plugged in, the inverter has a no-load draw of less than 1A, so its impact on the battery charge is negligible.
Dual USB Outputs: The PowerDrive inverter offers two USB ports for charging your electronic devices. The USB-C port's output is rated at 3A (15 watts). The USB Type A port has a 2.4A output for a total of 12 watts.
Removable Control Panel: The inverter has a removable control panel that contains a 3-digit digital display, power button, and voice alarm speaker. The control panel is held in place with two thumbscrews, and connects to the inverter with a short cord. After removing the thumbscrews and disconnecting the cord, you can plug in the 12-foot remote extension and operate the inverter from a distance. Dimensions: W-3.934, H-1.775", D-1.333". The digital display can display the battery voltage, output power (in watts), and the following error codes:
- LUP: Low Battery Voltage
- OUP: Over Voltage Protection
- OCP: Over Temp Protection
- OPP or OLP: Overload Protecting
Bluetooth Operation: The PowerDrive inverter can be controlled and monitored on your smartphone or tablet using the PowerDrive app. With the app, you can remotely and wirelessly turn the inverter on or off. Status gauges let you simultaneously monitor the battery voltage, the load on the inverter, and the internal temperature. In the menu, you can set your own thresholds for low- or over-voltage, operate the inverter on a sleep timer (to turn it off after a preset amount of time), or to receive notifications on your smartphone/tablet regarding inverter performance. The PowerDrive app is available from the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad running iOS 8.0 or later. It is also available on Google Play for Android devices running version 4.0.3 and up.
Connecting the Inverter: The PD3000 features two DC cable connections -- one positive and one negative -- that accept power cables installed with ring terminals. Two 3' lengths of terminated red and black power cables are included with the inverter. Longer cables can be used, however, they should be of a higher gauge (a recommended wire gauge guide is in the Owner's Guide). Both of these cables should be directly connected to the battery. An in-line fuse holder and a 300A fuse or circuit breaker should be placed on the positive power cable near the battery. A separate, 8-gauge stranded insulated ground cable (not included) should be connected between the inverter and your vehicle's chassis, or other grounding point.
Cooling Fans: The inverter's ideal operating temperature is 32°F to 104°F. Two quiet-running cooling fans are located on one end to draw cooler air over the internal components to prevent overheating. You should always maintain a minimum of 2" of unobstructed air space around the inverter, and avoid operating the inverter in direct sunlight, if possible.
Safety Features: The PD3000 has a voice alarm that sounds when the battery voltage is out of safe range. To protect the battery, the inverter will automatically shut off when the input power drops below 10.5V DC (+/-0.3V) or above 15.5V DC +/-0.5V, or if the internal temperature of the device is too high. Internally, the power inverter has five 30A ATO fuses (user replaceable) to protect your devices from excess power.
