Want to rock the house? Get BIG speakers
For room-filling sound, tower speakers are hard to beat
Heads up!Welcome to this article from the Crutchfield archives. Have fun reading it, but be aware that the information may be outdated and links may be broken.
Why I love big speakers
Little speakers are good for some situations. I listen to a portable Bluetooth® speaker while working on projects around the house. But for serious listening, I rely on my big speakers to fill the man cave with music and movie soundtracks. My tower speakers effortlessly fill my 16' x 24' room with life-size, chest-thumping sound. Smaller speakers simply can't compete.
Here I am in the Crutchfield Lab with a pair of MartinLogan Theos. Their curved electrostatic diaphragms reproduce even the most delicate, nuanced sounds with stunning power, clarity, and realism.

You get high-end sonic performance and powerful deep bass for big stereo or home theater sound without the need for a separate sub.

And a tempered-glass top-panel helps eliminate high-frequency vibration. All of these techniques add up to crystal-clear sound and a deep, expansive soundstage.
