Jimmy, Senior Advisor Manager at Crutchfield, tried out the Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones. He likes to wear them when he mows the lawn, since they cut out the noise of the mower and let him listen to his tunes. He also tried out the in-line mic and remote with an iPhone®.
Jimmy: These are the Bose QuietComfort 15's and they are simply awesome headphones. I've owned a pair for five or more years. Occasionally I'll travel — use them on a train or a plane, and that's a pretty common use for them, but I find myself using them more and more outside. You know, for example, when I mow the lawn I have these on with my iTouch. There's a microphone inside of these and outside of these, and it cancels out the noise of the lawnmower. So it's great. All I hear is crystal clear music coming through.
It's got a built-in remote control with an in-line microphone, so the nice thing is you don't have to search for your phone. All you do is use the built-in remote. If you're listening to music, you can fast forward, skip, play, and the sound quality is excellent. I listen to all kinds of music. My iTunes library is loaded with everything from folk, pop, hard rock, heavy metal, even a little bit of opera. The nice thing I like about the Bose is it's really, really produces the sound exactly the way the producers meant for it to sound. For example, the bass on hard rock music isn't overly boomy. It's solid and clear. The highs are crystal clear. I find the vocals to be excellent. I'm a huge Beatles fan so quite often I'll listen to a lot of Beatles songs with this and I really like how it produces the vocals.
And the nice thing I love about them is they're comfortable, too, so if you're wearing them for long periods of time you don't feel it whether you're on a plane ride or a train ride or mowing the lawn like I sometimes do. Put them on and go into your own little world. Something like this..aaah.
