Heads up!Welcome to this article from the Crutchfield archives. Have fun reading it, but be aware that the information may be outdated and links may be broken.
Take a look at the voice-controlled Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD navigation receiver. It's loaded with features, including Garmin navigation and advanced sound controls.
One cool thing about working at Crutchfield is the chance to get hands on with some new gear. And one of the most impressive pieces I've seen lately is this new top of the line Kenwood Excelon navigation receiver. Let me tell you a little bit about it.
The DNX9980HD has an easy-to-use touchscreen interface and the navigation is by Garmin. The controls are intuitive and easy to master. You even get 3D building views in major cities. Hook up your iPhone, and you'll enjoy PANDORA® control from the receiver, including "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" buttons.
Bluetooth is built in for hands free calling and audio streaming and there are comprehensive sound controls including a 13-band EQ. Want some variety? Choose from three different skins plus customizable button colors-all in all a very impressive piece of gear.
As I mentioned, this receiver has built in Bluetooth, but the microphone also works for voice control, and that's nice to have when you want to keep your eyes on the road. Say, for example, you want to change sources. Press this button and tell it what you want. iPod. But that's not all you can do. The voice control features let you input addresses, look up phone numbers, look for music or video files, or even change menu options.
Now you may wonder if this receiver will fit in your car. That's where our expertise comes in. Use our "Outfit my Car" tool on our website to find out if it fits your car or contact our advisors through email, chat, or on the phone.
