Video: Kenwood Excelon XR-1800 7" car speakers
I've been a camera nut all my life, so it makes sense I'd end up being a video producer. Of course, it has been a roundabout journey for me, as I started at Crutchfield in 2007 writing about car audio gear. Over the years I've learned about all the electronic items we sell, and it is my job to make sure we are making videos that you will find useful, whether you're shopping for something specific or trying to install some new gear yourself. My job is a lot of fun because I get to play around with all the cool stuff you see on our website while I'm making videos about it. Getting hands-on with the gear helps me see what I should show you about a product, though the flip side is my personal wish list is a mile long...

Kenwood's Excelon XR-1800P speakers feature a huge 7" cone, packed into a frame that will still fit into the factory openings of many Dodge, GM, and Toyota vehicles. A bigger cone moves more air, so your music can have the fullness and punch you don't get with most factory speakers. Separate 1-3/16" soft dome tweeters deliver all the high-frequency details smoothly, while external crossovers and powerful, lightweight magnets make these tweeters extremely accurate without sounding harsh.
The XR1800s are also available in a coaxial version.
Zak: I'm at the Kenwood booth at CES 2013 and Matt, tell me about these eXcelon XR-1800 speakers.
Matt: So these are brand new this year, and they're our top-of-the-line in component system, and they will feature an oversized 7" mid-range driver which will deliver a large amount of bass. They also will have a silk dome tweeter and are 110-watts RMS of power.
Zak: Great. Thank you.
