Video: Polk Audio Woodbourne wireless speaker

Most of the people appearing in our videos are employees at Crutchfield. We pull in folks from around the company to share their expertise. A lot of our on-camera stars come from our Advisor Group — they help people choose the right gear via phone, email and chat every day, so they're good at explaining the products and technologies.

Polk's Woodbourne wireless speaker features elegant looks, wireless convenience, and powerful sound. The Woodbourne's sealed speaker enclosure is crafted from acoustically inert materials, and is gently curved for superior rigidity and better sound projection. Check it out in this video from CES 2014.

Logan: Here at the Polk booth at CES 2014, I've got Jim Marshall here to tell me about Polk's wireless music system, the Woodbourne.

Jim: Hi. Thank you. The Woodbourne is a product that we released this year. This piece has a solid mahogany top on it, which is just beautiful, and the cabinet itself is made out of ¾" MDF which makes for a good solid enclosure. Internally the product has two 5-1/4" midrange drivers, one on this side and one on this side, and 1" dome tweeters. Each driver has its own amplifier. There's 70 watts to drive each midrange and twenty watts to drive each tweeter, and they are fully and completely digitally optimized to get the most performance you that you can get out of this product within this enclosure.

The great thing from a user perspective in this product is that it can play from anything. If you have an Apple device that uses AirPlay it can play from that. If you have a Bluetooth-enabled device you can connect to it and play that. If you have an analog audio device or Legacy system that you want to run into it you can do that. If you have a device with a digital optical input you can do that.

It has a USB connector so you can transmit things into it via that connector, and it will also hook up to an Ethernet connector so if you have all your audio files stored on your computer system and a media server and you want to wire it into your network you can do that as well. So it's a really, really useful system, great sound in a very small amount of space. People are just astonished when they hear the way this thing performs.
