Russ, Crutchfield information architect, checked out the Soundmatters foxLv2 Platinum Bluetooth speaker system. He enjoyed the sound quality and really liked its portability.

Russ: So I recently got a chance to check out the Soundmatters foxLv2 Platinum edition and I was truly impressed. When I got it out of the box I hooked it up immediately to my iPad and it found it, recognized it right away and I was able to start playing almost immediately. It came on super loud blew my co-workers away. So once I was able to figure out the volume get everything under control one of the co-workers from across the room actually shouted out to me and asked me what the device was and commented on how well it sounded. That was really cool because most of the time they're pretty much just annoyed at me in doing my product testing at the desk.
So playing this through my iPad sounds really good, but I took it home and I've got a MacBook Pro at home which is capable of aptX and I wanted to stream Bluetooth through the MacBook to the device to see if there's a difference. I did notice a noticeable difference right away. It was a wider, it was a louder sound, a wider sort of sound stage the little bit more crisp and clear quality coming from the speaker. So if you have any devices that are aptX capable this thing is even better.
If you're going to be using this paired with a Bluetooth-enabled phone, there is a built-in microphone and speaker capability which will allow you to answer, end, and reject phone calls directly from this speaker right here, which is a pretty cool feature because one click of the button and you're talking on the phone end it, you're listening to music.
If you choose not to stream or you don't want to be wireless, you can actually hook this thing up with the cable that comes with it. It's the AudioQuest Evergreen cable which is a really good audio cable in itself. It has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It's supposed to last up to twenty hours when it's wired or ten hours when you're streaming Bluetooth. I have not had to recharge it yet. I've had it running for probably about six or seven hours and streaming Bluetooth and it still has plenty of battery life left.
You can also purchase a case that's made specifically for this device. It's the UKPRO 10, which we sell. It's fantastic. This thing is built like a tank. It's also waterproof. When you have a cool gadget that has a cool gadget case it makes it even cooler in my opinion so I had to get the case.
So I've tried other portable speakers and they're either just a little bit too big to truly be portable, or they're too small to really sound good. This is, in my opinion, the perfect combination of both size and sound quality. I have not found anything this small that sounds this good.
