Hi, I'm Ken and we're here in the Crutchfield studio today with the KD-S100 CD receiver from JVC. This stereo was originally available through car dealers as a factory upgrade. When we had the opportunity, we bought them up because this stereo has a great feature that no other stereo has.
The receiver is unique because it features a built-in sound processing system called the Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station. This DPS compensates for the acoustic short comings of your vehicle's interior to make your music sound incredible. It's the product of the extensive research that the engineers at Bongiovi Acoustics performed on the acoustic properties of hundreds of vehicles.
The DPS optimizes power distribution, extends frequency response, and adds harmonics to maximize speaker performance without straining your system. The result is sound that's big, crisp, and life like. When you activate the Digital Power Station, instrument separation becomes more apparent, the sound stage is elevated to an optimum level, and all frequencies are enhanced to give you a truly rich listening experience.
Best of all set up is easy. All you have to do is insert the included programming disc. It'll run its update and when finished, the disc ejects. That's all there is to it. It makes tuning and power adjustments automatically. Next time you turn on the stereo push the Bongiovi button to activate the Power Station.
One big gain is in bass response. Because everything is tuned, the DPS enables your speakers to produce maximum bass without distortion so you get the feeling of having a subwoofer even if you don't. JVC calls this the "Virtual Subwoofer." Now, I'm not trying to say your car will sound like you have a pair of 12's in the trunk, but the bass output for your speakers will sound bigger and better because it's more focused.
Besides the Digital Power Station, a very cool feature on its own, you get a flexible car stereo too. The KD-S100 has a handy USB input on the front, a slot for an SD card behind the faceplate, and there's an auxiliary input on the back. And of course it plays CDs too. Now to control your iPod from the stereo, you'll need to add JVC's optional iPod adapter.
I'm glad to see one of my favorite JVC features in this stereo. It's called Amplifier Gain Control and it lets you adjust how much power the stereo sends to your speakers. You set it according to what kind of speakers you have. For factory speakers, set it on low so the stereo won't overdrive them. For aftermarket speakers, set the amplifier gain control on high and get full power out of the stereo.
That's the story on the JVC KD-S100 CD receiver. You get amazing sound in a moderately priced stereo and it's an especially good value when you consider that it originally sold for over six hundred dollars. You can find all the details at crutchfield.com/kds100 or give us a call at 1-800-555-9408.
