Average Customer Review(s):
Makes the install a lot easier and fits like a glove.
This fit perfectly in my 2004 Ford Ranger. I had to clip the 2 pieces on the top, because I didn't need them. They broke of fairly cleanly, so there wasn't much filing down I needed to do to make it slide into the opening.
Pros: Fits and hold well.
Pros: Fits perfectly
Simple, perfect fit, excellent instructions, great price, quick shipping, packaged well. 5 stars!!!
Pros: Ease of use
I used this to install in a 2011 Ford Ranger. It does allow you to install an aftermarket radio. It doesn't make it easy. At least in my case.
Pros: Looks good in the dash.
Cons: No walk in the park as far as installation goes. In a Ranger at least.
Worked great on my 2000 Ford F-150 Lariat. Fit is perfect and looks great with the Pioneer DEH-X3910BT.
Made installation of JVC receiver possible in reasonable amount of time with little effort, thanks to Crutchfield.
Pros: Better than factory mount in 2002 Fi50
Fit perfectly as usual. Very easy to install
Pros: Very easy to install
Fit like a glove. Very easy install.
Works perfectly as advertised. Nice factory look fit for the aftermarket head unit.
Pros: Works as it should, nice fit
I think this kit is actually better than the factory mounting
First time using this brand. Love it! So simple to put together! You don't have a ton of nubs to cut off like Metra and other brands either. Put quicker process and end result is very sturdy and clean.
Easy to install. Brought live to the truck. Looks like I paid to get the radio installed.
Came free with purchase, instructions were clear and easy to follow. Looks great installed.
Pros: Free with radio purchase, easy and clear instructions, looks good.
easy install deeper pocket than most i have had.
I'm really surprised this dash kit has such good reviews. I found this kit to be a complete piece of junk and here's why: 1. its cheaply made-for my Ranger I had to break off the screw tabs (as directed) and the plastic broke off in jagged pieces making it not only difficult to install but made the kit look ugly. In addition, the anchor tabs, once they are clicked in, forget ever taking your stereo out again. On first attempt at installing I realized the dash kit was a bit crooked so I tried pushing the pins inward to remove the system. The pins snapped right off immediately. 2. the pocket space is horrendous-the Ranger has plenty of room for a full length and width pocked and yet this kits' pocket can barely fit an iPhone 6 sideways! 3. It's poorly designed: there is a rear support bracket, but guess what? you can't even use it! The rear support bracket (shaped like a triangle) screws into the back of the pocket and is supposed to slide into the groove in your cars dash to support and stabilize the system. However since the pocked on this model is so short, once you put the stereo in, the stereo hits the bracket! I thought maybe the support bracket would attach to the stereo itself but there was no screw hole. Oh, and on top of that the screw hole in the back of the pocket isn't even threaded. I love Crutchfield and have been using them for years, but their dash kits are really horrendous. No wonder they are free when you buy a stereo.
Cons: Just about everythingCrutchfield response on December 20, 2016 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to this customer to issue an apology and help him further. We'll either help him get the kit working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
Perfect fit in 2001 F-150
Good adapter. Looks clean after installed. Easy installation.
Great fit and color match
This integrates well with my Alpine stereo install in my 2006 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I was concerned how a single DIN radio would look in a double DIN opening. It looks great! It was easy to use, instructions are clear and concise. They give you parts for nearly every imaginable possibility. In my case I didn't need most of them and had to cut the tabs off.
Pros: Price was right, looks classy when installed. Pocket functional.
This item came as part of the installation kit that was recommended and provided at a deep discount. This item was great! While it is designed to fit many vehicles it worked like it was only designed to fit my 2002 Ford Escape! I quick removal of the Mustang mounting tabs and BOOM! It snapped right into place. Filled the over-sized factory hole perfectly. I simply slid the DIN adapter from my new head unit in bent the tabs over and it looks and functions great.
Pros: multiple vehicle fit, easy instructions, snapped right in, bonus storage
Cons: could use more space to bend DIN tabs
After trying 2 other brand kits from other vendors, I came to Crutchfield and got this one. It fit in my 2011 Ford Ranger XL Single Cab with no problem. I only wish I had come here first!
Pros: Snapped right into place and had my new head unit in within 20 mins.
Awsome! Couldn't be a better, clean look on my 1999 Ford Truck dash.
Pros: Easy install, great fit to the dash and the stereo head
Cons: Minor: Instructions enclosed with the kit parts are limited, but there aren't a lot of steps involved to setting up the kit.
Makes aftermarket deck installation a breeze,
Pros: Great instructions, easy to use
Installation was difficult because the directions were horrible but once in it does what it's supposed to.
Perfect fit, super easy installation and brief yet easy to understand directions. Better than what I remember as these are seemingly less flimsy and more rugged than those I used 5-7 years ago.
Always love the free installation gear!!! Cruthcfield Rocks!!!
Part fit but came broken in half, right where the pocket meets the radio ring.
Cons:Crutchfield response on November 30, 2016 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to Cameron to issue an apology and help him further. If he hasn't installed this kit successfully, we'll send out a replacement free of charge right away. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
It was EXCELLANT ! Good delivery, good parts, good instructions ... thank you !!!
Took a little ingenuity to get the right fit....well its in the dash.
Pros: ...It fills the hole in the dash. It works on 15 different Ford models
Cons: ...could fit better
Super nice kit that will adapt to almost any application. Looks great in my truck.
Pros: Fits multiple applications. Quality made and easy to figure out.
Cons: A better diagram of what all can be done with this kit. I kind of just stumbled upon the configuration that I used.
Great product. Fits great. Customer service was great
This unit was incredibly easy to use and install. Required me to remove a couple of plastic tabs in order to be used in my vehicle - 1999 F-150 - but it snapped right into place and gave the installation a nice, professional look.
Pros: Good quality, easy-to-follow instructions, fit like a glove
Cons: Had to remove a couple of plastic tabs - easy, but took a few minutes
Easy to install, nice fit, good instructions. I would give it 5 stars, but it seems just a little bit flimsy. Not really in a bad way, but I feel like it could have had a touch more heft/structure to it. Still, overall I'm very satisfied.
Had to modify it to fit my 05 mercury just a bit but it wasn't too hard due to the tools I had available, it might have been fairly difficult had I not had a stone grinder.
Installed a new head unit in a 03 Ford Explorer with this kit. At first I thought they shipped the wrong kit because neither the radio or radio tray fit through the opening in the front. A quick call to crutchfield and they got me back on track. The front opening has a removable bezel that pops of, it fits so well when installed it's hard to see the seam.
Pros: Fits and looks good installed
Cons: Could use better pictures in directions
Awesome products on Crutchfield. All the items I purchased were good deals and came with perfect installation instructions.
Pros: Fast and easy installation. Easy to read assembly instructions. Perfect fit for my car.
Product worked great, but instructions are basically useless. Once you figure out your specific application, it worked very well and fit nicely in my 97 Grand Marquis
This item fit on my 2003 Windstar and although there we're instructions specifically for my vehicle, it wasn't as clear as it could have been. I had to figure out how the radio slid in because of the various fits to other vehicles with the same kit. Some tabs have to be removed and/or adapter has to be removed. Eventually you will get it. I've installed a few car steroes here and there but I'm no master.
Pros: Looks nice and clean.
Cons: Some figuring has to be done based on lackluster directions
The kit was a good fit and installed simply. Next the support is got during my install was 2nd to none. I called on a Sunday and actually talked to live person! He was very clear and helpful. I will recommend Crutchfield to anyone that is in the market to upgrade their car audio!
Pros: Good fit , nice appearance.
Overall, the kit worked as expected. It seems to be of high quality. The instructions could be a little clearer. They referred to installing a bracket that would not fit the radio. After calling technical service, I learned that the bracket was no longer needed.
This Dash Kit is so easy to use. I had it installed in a matter of minutes. I highly recommend these dash kits to anyone installing a new audio system.
Pros: Ease of installation
This was a challenge. Not all the pieces fit right, had to do lots of trimming to parts I would expect to work without doing that. Felt like it was going to break with the force I had to use to get everything to fit. And after I got the radio installed in my truck, this dash kit doesn't fit directly into the existing radio housing perfectly, so my radio trim bezel for my truck didn't fit on my dash correctly. I had to take a dremmel to my dash piece so it would go back to where it was supposed to. With all that said, it isn't a bad dash kit, but I hope there are better ones. No one would be able to tell I had issues just by looking at it. so it gets a 3.
Pros: radio fits
Cons: directions were vague lots of trimming to fit cheap tabs broke upon normal installation
The Kit was broken in the package and not usable it appears that when deburing it got broken and they packaged it anyway.
Cons:Crutchfield response on August 31, 2016 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our Customer Support team right away. Our Customer Support has reached out to Jeff for a follow-up. We'll either send out a replacement kit free of charge, or issue him a refund.
I used the side bracket mounts. The unit holds the receiver securely and fits the dash well. Only problem was that it was difficult to snap the side brackets into place without breaking a small retaining tab.
Pros: secure mounting and good fit
Cons: assembly of mounting bracket could be easier
This dash insert fit nicely, a bit of bending to actually snap it in place. But it fit and even allowed me to reuse the same grounding point. Easy to assemble a bit of trimming needed because snap positons were not fully cleared.
Pros: Easy to use, inexpensive for the amount of beauty, quick shipping, and easy full instructions that exact'y fit the dash inserts, rugged design.
Cons: Needed a bit of forcing but eventually snapped into place perfectly, glad it was built well if not might of snapped the housing pushing it together, some of the snap points weren't fully cleared nothing a razorblade cou'dnt clean up.
Worked like a charm, once we figured out how to use it.
Nice kit. Had way too many parts and no info regarding the Ford Sport Trac. Luckily, with all the extra parts, I was able to fashion a mount that worked fine for the Sport Trac.
Pros: Obviously useful for a variety of vehicles, even those not covered in the instructions.
Cons: My specific vehicle wasn't included, so I had to improvise. Some of the plastic parts are a bit tough to mate together without fear of breaking something.
Fit perfect. Made everything look nice.
Easy to install
Made the radio install VERY easy!
Pros: Instruction easy and made install fast and easy!
Great Item worked great good fit
Pros: Great fit
Cons: Had to trim 2 tabs off with dremal tool
Was a good fit once I figured out I didn't need most of the pieces that came with it. The instructions were not very good.
Pros: Free and was a good tight fit.
Cons: Instructions not very clear.
Fit perfectly and worked perfectly, but the instructions left a lot to be desired. It's not rocket science but still would be nice for things to be a bit more clear, especially with all of the "extra parts" that may or may not be necessary for your vehicle.
Pros: Good fit
Cons: Confusing instructions
This dash kit fit very good looks like a custom fit both the radio and to my dash
Pros: Fit very nice look better than I thought
Very confusing instructions. Finally figured out that I only really needed the outer sleeve, that accepted the installation sleeve, not the various side pieces, rear support, etc. Took hours trying to figure all this out, and if you can put the side pieces in place by following the instructions, you get the prize. Once I found that I only needed the mounting sleeve, all I had to do was figure out that I needed to pry the trim ring off the Pioneer stereo, install it in the sleeve, and replace the trim ring. There was a trim ring included, a replacement, but it did not fit my application. Fortunately the old one fit. The whole experience was like that. Things did wind up fitting, working, doing the job, but he instructions need a lot of work.
Pros: Did the job.
Cons: Took a lot of head scratching to get there.Crutchfield response on July 11, 2016 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our tech support team right away. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
This looks great and is a perfect fit on my 2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty. Made installation a breeze. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to mount a single din stereo.
Pros: Looks great,easy to install
Real easy installation process using this kit. The Pioneer media player was very lightweight and fit perfectly into the frame kit. No hassles.
Pros: Easy of application. Easy to understand manual. Fits securely in dash and holds unit tightly..
Cons: With the Mazda you need to cut off the two top mounting tabs ( not needed for this application). Be careful when doing so to not scratch the outer edge of the remaining frame piece. A dremel works very well for cutting the tabs.
This will never make it to the web page, but I am so disappointed in Crutchfield in their choice of "dash installation kit" supplier. The stuff is junk, badly explained and leaves me with a queasy feeling as to how secure my unit is in dash. I purchased a Kenwood CD player (which I am totally satisfied with) but the "free" custom installation kit was worth what I paid for. Follow the instructions (right) could not get the unit to slide into the kit pocket; finally called Crutchfield tech support (great service) and was prepared for a long discussion but after about 30 seconds of explaining my problem , the tech guy laughed "yeah they have a lot of calls on this, you need to pop the face plate off". Well it was not mentioned in the instructions and looking at it, it did not seen that it pops off. But it did. I finally got the unit inside and the only security it has is the din sleeve of the Kenwood. Here's my point charge me for a well made installation kit. The wiring harness and Posi connectors were great, but this cheap floppy dash kit ruined the whole purchase satisfaction for me.
Cons: Cheaply made, incomplete installation instructions and sloppy fit.
This fit perfectly and very easy to install.
Pros: Easy install and easy to follow instructions.
Easy Installation...A Little Too Easy?
Pros: Instructions were very clear and covered a variety of installations. Appearance is of good quality.
Cons: The plastic this is made of is a little soft. The clips that should hold this in place will not prevent or slow down anyone just slipping it out. There is no back bracing for my installation.
For my truck I just snapped off the upper detachable tabs and it slid in storage portion down easily. Didn't need any of the other pieces but the face plate rim
Pros: Easy to install
Great item for transitioning from factory install to new stereo
Pros: Easy to use, great fit
Even after making a call to customer service I was not impressed with this dash kit it is perfect for a full-size stereo single Din but not good for a media player as there is no way to hook up the back support bracket customer service said you don't need the bracket but without it the stereo shakes up-and-down and vibrates while driving down the road also the surround ring was pretty attached when I got my kit and I had to snap it off in order to install the sleeve which damage the tabs on it and I had to glue it before I installed it please note this is The first time I have used a dash kit that wasn't perfect:(
Cons: Not really designed for a media player install
Worked perfect, easy to use
Nice looking trim adapter
Pros: looks good nice storage pocket
Cons: took a little bit of thinking to make it work instructions not the best
Makes the install neat and clean, no frills but does the job well.
Pros: Clean looking and fits well.
Very easy installation, perfect fit. Came free with my stereo purchase. Very happy with kit.
Pros: Perfect fit, storage tray perfect for stereo remote and phone.
Made the Alpine head install quick and painless.
Pros: Free from Crutchfield with my Alpine head purchase.
Looks nice in my 2000 F350 truck. No issues installing, just works well. One note, it's held in by plastic clips, so once you install the adapter, it is quite difficult to remove and if you do so you could break some of the plastic clips unless you are very careful.
Cons: Not easy to remove should you need to.
Pros: Good fit & sturdy product
Cons: Generic review.
This was easy to install, and fit perfectly. The finish was a good match for the dash, and the storage cubby is nice to have for holding the head unit's remote.
Pros: See above.
Easy to install
Pros: Easy to install
Install went well, plastic is little cheap in quality
Pros: Easy Install
Cons: Quality of plastic
Came free with the purchase of the stereo. Very plain. If I was doing a high end install I would not use it. I get the sense they were just trying to cover too many years of cars and stereos with the one kit.
Pros: Clean look, pretty easy to use, cheap.
Everything works as it should.
Pros: It works
Cons: Little hard to put it in. need little professional help.
Worked well, installed tight, looks stock.
instructions not very clear, could be consise
The single din is pretty easy to use but it does take some time to figure it out. The instructions are pretty vague and do not really explain what you are doing. It is just a few photos that you have to figure out. It did not take too long but, for first time users, the intructions could be a little better. I had to call Crutchfield once for a part on the back that I found out I did not need. The instructions said nothing about how to mount it or if I even needed that part. Crutchfield told me I did not need the small triangle piece
Pros: Works great
Cons: Instructions are about as useful as a bag of rocks.
easy instructions and fit perfectly
Fit perfectly. Easy to install. Looks clean.
Pros: Installed easily. Looks clean. I can fit my ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser perfectly inside the tray while streaming bluetooth audio to my head unit.
I used this to install a single din receiver in place of a double din factory receiver in my Ford explorer. It for perfect, and it was easy to install
Pros: Easy to install, looks great!
Clean easy install
Pros: Clean fit
This trim package looks great with the Pioneer that I got. It looks as good as the original trim.
Pros: Fit great, and attached well to the new head unit.
Cons: I had to modify it to attach to the support rail, noting major, but still....
filled the hole and holds the radio well
Pros: clean simple
Completely satisfied with everything the radio is beautiful installation was a breeze.
Pros: 5 star
Cons: There is no cons
My 16 year old son installed my radio on his own using this kit and instructions provided by Crutchfield. Everything he needed was there and he did a really good job for his first install.
Pros: Very simple instructions and everything you need is in the package.
Amazing fit in 98 Ford Ranger. Looks good and practical.
Perfect fit in my 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis
Pros: heavy gauge wire and solid construction.
Fit perfectly. Easy to install
Pros: Easy to install.
The reason I give this 4 out of 5 is 100% due to instructions.
Pros: Easy to use once you figured out the "1 of 2" ways to install.
Cons: Need specific instructions
This kit works correctly and fits like a dream however; the reason for the four star and not five is because the instructions are not accurate for the model of car. The instructions said I should leave the tabs on and might have to use spacers. This was incorrect. I needed to remove the tabs or it wouldn't fit at all. Not a big issue but it did leave me stumped for about 10 minuets.
Pros: Fits like it should. Quick to install once you know what you're doing.
Cons: Instructions are not accurate.
The kit didn't line up with any mounting points in my dashboard, so it just sits there.
Pros: The radio can slide out of the dashboard without unscrewing anything.
Cons: The radio can slide out of the dashboard without unscrewing anything. Also the pocket is barely tall enough for a phone. Make sure the audio out cable is plugged in securely because you'll be yanking on it to retrieve your phone.
Fits fine in the dashboard, but the pocket is comically small.
This adapter cut the install time I had allocated in half. Fit and finish look like a pro did itT
Pros: worth every cent.
This is a great kit that has almost everything you need with exception of experience using it. Part of the instructions are incomplete for some installations and the back support does not work well because it interferes with the stereo. The easy fix for the back support is using the existing one from the radio you are replacing if that is what you're doing.
Pros: Parts to allow almost any installation configuration
Cons: Inadequate instructions. Fitting parts and some installation details are missing.
Looks good and easy to use
Pros: Worked well and looks good
Easy to install and fits very well....kinda cheaply made plastic.
Cons: Cheap plastic feels like in cold weather the pocket will break with little force. I havnt had an issue but I can see this breaking if not careful.
Fits well, but the unit came assembled w/ a piece attached that should not have been. There were no instructions telling me to pull the unit apart first, yet this is what I had to do.
Pros: Excellent fit
Cons: Instructions should be clearer.
Overall it's an ok product. There was an obvious flaw in the plastic from the manufacturer. Called Crutchfield and they stood behind the product and sent me a replacement ASAP. Very happy with customer service.
Pros: Easy to install Product backed by Crutchfield
Cons: Problem out of the package. First time it's happened, don't think it's a pattern.
remove tabs? good thing i had a HACKSAW handy. do not use factory radio din. use the plastic mounts that screw to the radio. it a much sturdier way to mount your new radio. pictures would have made it much faster. i had to disassemble and really look at how it was going together.
Pros: it works
Cons: you need it
Fit great and was a snap to install.
Pros: Easy of use
Great mount. Fast and easy install instructions. It also gave a nice little shelf below it.
Pros: Fast and easy.
It did what it was supposed to do. Too much wasted though. I barely used any of it...
Everyone wants a perfect fit without having to do any hacking on their dash. I only had to file the sides a little bit on my 2005 Ford Escape.
Pros: Super Easy!
Cons: Slight filing but not a big deal - it took literally 30 seconds.
Easy to install. Perfect fit.
Pros: Nice shelf above receiver to put remote/glasses.
Perfect fit for my 1998 Ford van. Biggest challenge was putting together the parts of the dash kit. Fits tight & made for a perfect install of the Sony CDX-GT570UP stereo.
Pros: Quick way to make a standard stereo look like a professional install
Easy to follow instructions with a perfect fit. It looks like it is oem !
Perfect fit into a 1999 Ford Explorer. Assembly of the side brackets was tricky, and the instructions were no help at all, but when all was done, it was solid and fit.
Pros: Great fit & Finish
Cons: Tricky to assemble the side brackets - they are plastic, and will break if forced, yet pressure must be applied to get them to snap into place. The instructions gave no info how to do this - had to guess from the pictures (good thing I've assembled a bunch of model cars).
Uncanny how well this unit fit my radio hole. Made installation a breeze and looks professionally great.
Looks good. Fit well.
Does the job it needs to do but it is cheaply made and flimsy. Comes with multiple mounting options.
Made the installation a breeze.
Pros: Worked very well.
Pros: Worked Perfect
Fit the space from the original stereo nicely, mounted the stereo properly, looks good.
Pros: Fit the space from the factory stereo nicely, no adjusting needed. Looks good.. Seems quite solid.
I've had better universal radio mounts but this one was free with my purchase what more can you ask for
Pros: It works
Cons: Doesn't really hold in position in my ranger 100% correctly
Worked with modifications
Pros: It fit
Cons: Instructions needed to be studied thoroughly
Crutchfield Knows Car Stereos. The Dashboard Kit was Very Easy to install and looks Great. The Pocket comes in handy for storing the Remote Control.
Pros: Easy to Put together and Install. Great Fit for my Vehicle.
simple and easy to install....
Pros: looks like it came from factory.
This kit fit very well in my 98 Explorer, I could not be happier!
As always, these dash install kits are great! I've installed one on my dad's F250, one just recently on my F350 and will be installing one soon in my wife's F250. VERY easy to install comes with instructions if needed for your first time installing the kit. On a difficulty scale of 1-10 it's a 0.01. I will only buy from Crutchfield, have been a long time customer and still coming back.
Pros: VERY quick and easy to install, comes with all parts necessary to install.
Bought this for the installation of my new Pioneer head unit in my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. Easy to follow instructions. Perfect fit
Pros: Factory fit No trimming necessary
Excellent Product. Prefect Fit. Looks like it came in the car.
Pros: Easy to assemble. Versatile for any style radio.
Cons: None that I encountered.
fits great, looks great
Pros: fits great, looks great
fits right looks good simple
Pros: good fit easy install
Simple and straight forward, fit perfectly, not much more I can say.
Pros: Fits perfect, looks good, easy to use
Fits like a glove and looks like an OEM install.
Pros: Easy fit
Cons: Had to use the trim bracket that came with the radio instead of the one thst came with the dash kit as it was very difficult to remove the trim piece and I could not snap it back in once the radio was in place.
As always Crutchfield comes thru with the right parts to make m u installation easy.
Pros: Clear instructions
I installed this in a 2004 Ford Excursion. The dashboard trim piece is held in place by 2 screws above the factory radio and a bunch of spring clips. This is held in by 6 spring clips That Can Only Be Released From The Back. So if you install this with the 2 screws in place, there is no way to remove either the trim panel or the radio without breaking something. After install, I realized the best install is probably to put the storage area above the aftermarket radio and drill access holes for the dash screws, which can then be accessed with an offset screwdriver.
Pros: Fits well.
Cons: Instructions/warnings/options incomplete.
Parts came as advertised and installation was no problem, Thanks
This unit worked in my 2008 Ford Ranger perfectly. I've read other reviews that claim it "didn't fit" their Ranger, and that it was "wobbly" after installation. It says on the FIRST PAGE of the instructions for this that you have to file down a couple plastic fit nubs that are required for other model cars in order to use this unit in a Ford Ranger. It took about 1 minute to file them off and it installed with no wobble. READ THE DIRECTIONS, PEOPLE!
It has everything you need to install your stereo. Simple for even the beginner.
Pros: Ease of use.
I've installed 6 Pioneer receivers in various of our family's cars, all bought from Crutchfield and all installed using the supplied installation kits. This is the first one I've had a problem with . The (heavy) Ford factory CD unit is supported at its lower edge by a nylon "slider" that rides on a "track" in the dash. This mounting kit includes a piece that should provide this function BUT it cannot be fitted to Pioneer head unit I bought (there is no place on the Pioneer to attach it). It took me a few hours of "chair and stare" to figure out how to re-purpose the factory support for use with the new Pioneer unit. Very unlike Crutchfield-supplied install kits to leave me in a bind like this. It all works fine now but the delay and fiddly work involved was annoying.
Pros: Very complete kit. Thorough, well-written instructions
Cons: Critical rear support as supplied could not be used with the Pioneer head unit I bought.
how crazy excited can you get about an install kit. It worked pretty good, we had a few problems getting it in right but eventually figured it out. not the best directions.
Pros: it fit
Cons: it took several tries to get it in correctly, and we had to "rig" it behind the dash
The instructions are missing a few of the finer details. You can figure it out by trial and error however. Installation was for an early 2000 Ford Ranger.
Pros: Pretty cheap considering most kits go for $15+. Matched my radio and dash pretty well.
Cons: Some of the plastic tabs that is supposed to hold the radio in the dash broke off before I could get it into the dash, making it useless for actually keeping the radio in the dash. Cheap plastic or maybe due to being made to fit multiple vehicles, who knows. Had to use the mounting sleeve on the radio to keep the radio in the dash.
Fit well, stronger than it appears, did not need any adapters for 2004 Ford F150 Heritage
Pros: good fit
Looks good. Easy to install.
Pros: Easy and attractive
After getting the wires all set up, My friend and I sat there for 30 more minutes trying to make the pieces fit, but in the end we simply used half of what was there. Literally half of the mounting side pieces.
Pros: It worked out well in the end. Tight fit.
Cons: Too universal.
Since the old kit somehow broke and I needed to replace the it, I was glad that there was still a few around. Did a reinstall with the new kit and it fit like a glove, with the helper bracket that I should have used to help the back of the radio be supported and slide on the factory rail.
Pros: fits in the same opening as the old one.
Cons: Doesn't fit the dash contour, but it does fit. instructions are a bit confusing as to break off one of the tabs. I think that it would make it weaker as to staying in the dash.
The instructions were like they were written in a foreign country and the product built and in USA
Pros: Good USA built and designed product
Cons: Incomplete instructions installing a second unit would be a snap now that i figured it out on my ownCrutchfield response on July 13, 2015 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our tech support teams right away. Everything was plug and play, self-explanatory and worked like a charm!
Cons: I wish the little tray was a little bit deeper to fully place my iPhone 5 in longways, but it's just a preference. Still works just fine.
This process was very simple. complete installation of new stereo took less than an hour and that includes setting it up. this kit really was easy enough for a first time installer to do with no problems.
Pros: easy install,
Cons: no problems
Great fit and finish for the Ford 2002 Expedition. Comes with everything you need.
Pros: Great fit and finish Everything needed is included
Very nice fit. Almost doesn't look like a bracket was used.
Pros: Very nice looking Convenient pocket for storage
Cons: Vehicle instructions could use some improvements
Very easy install and looks good in the dash
Pros: Very easy install and looks good in the dash
Cons: You have to bend the tabs in pretty hard to make sure the radio is secure. It works well, but is loose if you don't do it right.
All the parts worked and there were no problems installing this item with the radio
Pros: Worked perfectly
I gave it 4 stars because in the end it generally worked, looks fine in place in the dash and was FREE with my order. I didn't give it 5 stars because in my application (2002 Ford Ranger) the built in cubby slot is useless as anything you put in it will fly right back out the moment you accelerate forward. Also, I never was able to get it to fully latch into place in the dash even after removing the "nubs". That said, it solidly stays in place even while driving faster than normal over extremely rough terrain (plowed field, washboard surface gravel roads with potholes,...). So all in all I'm not really complaining even with its shortcomings.
Pros: As already mentioned.
Cons: As already mentioned.
Dash kit worked well with my install for the Apline unit I purchased.
Pros: Easy to follow instructions, multiple uses
Cons: Felt a little flimsy and cheap
worked good 2007 Crown Vic.
Pros: worked good
Cons: you need a saw for cutting off the 2 tabs not needed .
The trim kit worked as described and created a very snug fit for my head unit. Thanks again Crutchfield for the precise products and outstanding customer service. I would recommend this product or any other product like this one to anyone who needs it.
Overall good quality. I would have given 5 stars except I was a little annoyed that it was not a complete kit. For my vehicle the instructions say to use a piece of backstrap to secure the head unit. Like I should just have a piece lying around... Maybe a professional install shop would, not the average DIY consumer.
Pros: Fit nicely and looks good.
Cons: Missing back-strap, so the unit is loose until you can get some.
Made the install of the JVC unit easy and fast. Plain and simple it works great and as designed.
Pros: Works great, can be adapted to several units, easy to follow the instructions.
fit well.minor mods required
Pros: looks good,fit well
Instructions included and they were easy to understand. Didn't need anything extra and simply had to cut off two plastic ears for my F350 Ford.
Pros: Fit Very well - liked it a lot. Included for free with the stereo purchase. Better than amazoo for the price!
Cons: Tight fit, but not impossible!
Fit perfectly into my 2004 F350 XLT. Don't even have to remove any dash pieces. I would recommend using the metal cage with your headunit so you can remove the unit if you need to. The included mounts snap into place making it difficult to remove later on if needed.
Pros: Easy install. Looks good.
Really great item. Works really well and looks super clean. Instructions were easy to ready and part was easy to install. Would recomend to all my friends
It fits 02 mounty
Easy to install and made the dash look nice with the new Kenwood deck installed.
Pros: Easy install.
Cons: Not a huge fan of the marbled plastic look, but it isn't bad.
Mostly fine but did not have correct part for rear support. Looks great in dash.
Pros: Good looks. Face plate looks stock. Snapped right in, tight fit.
Cons: Incorrect rear support part.
This worked fine for me but it is plastic and while I can't complain I can't praise it either. Although I do like the pocket.
Cons: Black plastic is the only option.
It was a close fit for a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. Looks good.
Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Not a perfect fit. Needed adjusting.
Perfect fit in my '09 Ranger. Just had to use the factory support clip on the back, and it took a little finesse to get it maneuvered into the hole.
Pros: Perfect fit.
Cons: Didn't know what to do with the extra parts so I mailed them to my senile Aunt Beatrice in Saskatchewan. She did not have any success in using them as cat toys.
