Our take on the X-10 ST539

This Powermid transmitter is specifically designed to work with the Powermid remote extender. This flexible system lets you control audio/video components that are tucked away inside a cabinet, hidden in a closet, or even housed in another room. It's a great add-on for folks who want to control A/V gear in their main room from multiple areas around the house. For example, if you want to be able to control your gear from each room in your multi-room audio system, simply add a transmitter in each area.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I absolutely love having the Powermid. I have a couple TV's hooked up to one receiver and it was a major pain to have to always go to where the receiver was to change the channel or use DVR controls every time I wanted to do something. This makes it much more convenient and efficient to do so. Also, I like how it looks and the relatively small size.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product works as advertised if you are close enough. I have to be within 10 feet of the unit with my remote control for it to work properly. I changed the batteries on my remote control but that did not help. So I ended up with the Powermid sitting across the room from the television. Not what I had in mind. I will be looking for a replacement product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I origionally purchased my first pair of these from Crutchfield over 15 years ago. In that time frame, this is the 2nd time I've replaced the transmitter and the receiver is still ticking. I purchased this replacement and it is still compatable with the origional receiver I bought over 15 years ago. With the previous two transmitters, they seemed to get a little loose over time and started picking up a lot of background signals (non IR remote signals) which would cause the regular remote signal to get muddied when transmited to the next room. You can tell by the activity light that after 5 or 6 years they started showing activity for several seconds after you stopped using the remote and after a while would be on constantly until they became non-functional. But guess what, just buy a new transmitter every 6 years or so and you are good to go again. With a ratio of $6.50 /year, this is a great value.
