If you buy this system you will be disaapointed. I have the SoundTouch 20 and the Lifesytle 535. I bought them so I could listen to music via Wifi throughout the house. I am very disappointed. The SoundTouch has only 5 preset stations and the phone app does not allow for a user to search for other Pandora stations. You can only do that using the application on your desktop. The combined system cannot stream music from Spotify, Beats or any other streaming music system other than Pandora. The Soundtouch and Lifestyle system cannot connect using Airplay. I can only airplay to the SoundTouch but not both systems at once. Not being able to using Airplay means that I cannot use my phone to play my music in my house. You can only connect to one ITunes music library; this is a serious flaw because the rest of your family cannot access their music. We had to move all the kids music to my wife's iTunes account. When I finally connected to the music library, I had to scroll though the names in an alphabetical order because there is no search for feature. If you have a large music library and you want to find a song or artist you need to scroll one page at a time until you finally get to the name. The connection to my router did not work. I had to have the Bose installers out to my house three times. There is nothing remotely cutting edge about Bose.

Pros: good sound

Cons: the connection to WiFI and SoundTouch

Awesome Lifestyle!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Music at it's best, simply so awesome to listen to music or movies through this piece of art.

Pros: Blown away completely

Cons: None so far, still enjoying

Incredible sound

Parker Wade from Greer, SC on 3/3/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Incredible sound. Very loud. We have the 525 set up in a dedicated rear projection theater and the clarity is fantastic. It's loud and crisp. The Bose unify system is ridiculously awesome. It's so easy. It makes life easy for the veteran AV guy to the beginner. My only wish is that it had more powerful base. But for all the pluses, I can deal with that one. Over all, the best system I've listened to especially for TV and movies.

Pros: Loud, crisp, easy to use, easy setup, incredible sound

Cons: Bass not as powerful As I would like but still great!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great experience with Crutchfield first of all! The bose system is fantastic ! But really impressed with the actual components and the ease of setting the system up. The sound is great for such small speakers. When I actually got in and set up the speaker volume and sound adjustments to my liking I was even more impressed. I am glad I spent the money for this system.

Pros: Set up, quality of components and sound.

Cons: Have found any yet.

Fantastic sound from such a small console

Dave E. from Paradise on 1/1/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this new Bose all in one system to replace an older Sony ES receiver and Bose speaker system. The New Bose console works and sounds great and attaching my Dish receiver, DVD player, and Apple TV was very simple and reduced the number of cords to a minimum of 4. Surprisingly the new Bose console even made my HD TV picture quality even clearer then before. AdaptiQ set up is easy and well explained. Never dissatisfied with any Bose product or the simplicity of ordering any product from Crutchfield. I have been a satisfied Crutchfield patron since 1985

Pros: AdaptiQ makes set up simple. Increased sound and picture quality.

Cons: Bose remote does not recognize my Dish remote. For the price, it would be nice if Bose included the speaker wall mounts.

Simple to use and great sound

Ryan from Kansas on 12/15/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great product that is very easy to setup. It is a bose so the sound is great. I recommend it to my technology challenged customers because of its ease of use for them. The missing star is because it needs a manual override for the equipment setup portion. My last customer had an old vcr that only had a mono output for sound and the unit would not recognize that it was hooked up. I figured out how to fool it with a y connector but this was very frustrating.

Pros: Ease of use and setup

Cons: to automatic sometimes

System Components

5.1ch Home Theater System: The Bose Lifestyle 525 series II is a 5.1-channel home theater system consists of an AV Control Console with built-in AM/FM tuner, Acoustimass module, four direct/reflecting dual-cube speakers, and a horizontal center-channel speaker. The Lifestyle 525 series II also includes the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system to optimize system performance for your room. In addition, there is an RF remote control included for convenient wireless operation of the entire system and your connected components.

AV Control Console w/ Built-In Tuner: The Bose Lifestyle 525 series II features an AV control console that is equipped with all the system's audio/video inputs & outputs; including 4 HDMI inputs & 1 HDMI output. The Lifestyle 525 series II's control console features a built-in AM/FM tuner and comes with an AM loop antenna and FM wire antenna. The built-in tuner can store up to 25 FM and 25 AM preset stations. The integrated tuner also supports RDS and displays the information on the system's LCD remote.

Direct/Reflecting Dual Cube Speakers: This Lifestyle 525 series II home theater system uses four direct/reflecting dual-cube speakers to fill your room with compelling surround sound. These dual-cube speaker arrays can be swiveled, allowing you to reflect sound off the walls as well as project it directly into the room. The result is full, spacious sound throughout the room; not just in one small "sweet-spot". Direct/Reflecting speaker technology delivers lifelike spaciousness from a natural balance of reflected and direct sound; similar to a live performance. You'll hear movies, music and sports come to life in convincing detail.

Note: Each speaker has a single 5mm threaded insert for optional Bose or universal wall brackets (018UB20B, sold separately) or stands (018UFS20B, sold separately).

Horizontal Center-Channel Speaker: The horizontal center-channel speaker delivers natural sounding dialog and vocals, while visually complimenting your flat-panel TV screen. It utilizes the same small drivers and technology found in the dual-cube speakers. The center-channel speaker also features a rear-mounted 5mm threaded inert for optional wall-brackets or stands (sold separately).

Acoustimass Module: The system's direct/reflecting dual-cube speakers work in concert with a hideaway Acoustimass module to deliver a fuller range of theater sound and effects. Exclusive technology in the module helps provide the emotional intensity you feel at the theater or in a concert hall. The system's Acoustimass module delivers the clarity of pure sound reproduction down to the lowest frequencies, even at the loudest levels. Because it eliminates audible distortion, you can place the Acoustimass module almost anywhere, even behind furniture, and all the sound will appear to come from the system's tiny cube speakers.

Note: When placing the Acoustimass module on bare floors, or other smooth surfaces, attach the included rubber feet to the bottom of the module for greater stability and to protect your floor. For best sound quality, place the Acoustimass module on its feet along the same wall as your TV, or along any other wall in the front third of the room. The front opening of the module can face any direction.

System Connections: The AV Control Console plugs into the Acoustimass Module via the included proprietary system cable. The four dual-cube speakers and the center-channel speaker then connect to the Acoustimass module's RCA jacks via the supplied speaker cable. The dual-cube and center-channel speakers feature spring-clip connectors to attach the speaker cable.

Analog Video Inputs: The Bose Lifestyle 525 series II is equipped with two rear-panel component video inputs. The component video inputs will accept 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i video signals. The unit is also equipped with two rear-panel composite video inputs and a front-panel composite video input (the composite video input will support 480i only). The two rear-panel composite video inputs share the audio inputs of the unit's component video inputs. The 525 series II does not feature a composite, S-video, or component video monitor output; all analog video inputs are upconverted to HDMI.

Analog + Digital Audio Inputs w/ 7.1ch Decoding: The Lifestyle 525 series II's control console is equipped with both analog (RCA) & digital (HDMI/Optical/Coaxial) audio inputs. The three rear-panel optical & coaxial digital audio inputs support Dolby Digital/DTS (up to 5.1ch). The unit's 4 HDMI audio/video inputs will support Dolby TrueHD and uncompressed multichannel PCM. Bose ADAPTiQ Audio Calibration System: The home theater system's performance is customized to the acoustics of your room with the Bose ADAPTiQ audio calibration system. ADAPTiQ audio calibration system analyzes the way your room's dimensions & other variables affect sound, then automatically adjusts the sound of your speaker system to the acoustics of your room.  To perform a calibration you need about 10 minutes when the room is quiet. While wearing the special headset, the system will ask you to place yourself in five different locations (sitting or standing) in your listening area as the system takes measurements in each. Audio prompts from the system will guide you through the process.

Note: The special headset supplied with the ADAPTiQ system has no speakers, but special microphones designed to be worn above the ears. It enables you to take acoustic measurements in your room during the custom equalization process. The headset has an adjustable headband and a 28' cord terminating in a pair of stereo male RCA plugs. These plug into the system's front-panel left and right RCA inputs.

    • Bass & Treble: You can independently adjust the system's bass & treble level.
    • Volume On TV: This feature enables the system to display the volume level meter and mute indicator on your TV.
    • TV Speakers: This function sends HDMI audio to your TV (audio from the TV is not affected by plugging headphones into the control console or by pressing Mute or Volume on the remote). HDMI audio is only sent to the TV via the system's HDMI inputs. It will not output audio from analog connected sources to your TV.
